This work consists of a literature review of technical project management with a focus on cost management in order to establish concepts and build a theoretical basis for later perform a case study of a construction company. All of the literature review is based on best practices in project management from the Project Management Institute - PMI, among other bibliographies that use the same concepts. The case study covers issues such as area of expertise, constructions undertaken, methodologies, procedures, assumptions, allowing to understand how the company operates in the market and, especially, which interfaces with the cost department in company processes. Confronting the knowledge gained from the literature review of the concepts of PMI and the information obtained from the case study on the current situation of the management costs of the company, it was possible to identify some gaps in the company processes of cost management and thus propose the solution of creating a centralized functional area focused on cost, that is responsible for ensuring that best practices in project management, specifically costs, are being applied

The Brazil´s Atlantic coastal forest biome is considered one of the richest and most exuberant biodiversity of the whole planet. Still, other data shows the reality of this Brazilian forest: more than 93% of its original formation has been already devastated, being the human actions the greatest threat to the perpetuation of the balance and diversity of this ecosystem. This destruction affects all the fauna and flora, with even greater impact on medium and large mammals, due to its high demand on the availability of resources, living area and sensitivity to disturbances. However, today it is known the vital importance of these mammals in the preservation and maintenance of biological systems. Thus, the purpose of this study was to survey the species richness of medium and large mammals in a remnant neotropical forest located in Itatinga, SP,Brazil, using the indirect method of recording (traces on sand-plots, marking territorial, faeces, carcasses, scratches on tree trunks and vocalizations) and camera trapping. Data were collected during ten (10) consecutive months in the year 2008, from February to November. Within twenty-five plots of sand installed and monitored during the ten months were found fifteen (15) species of terrestrial mammals of medium and large, five (5) orders and twelve (12) families. Among them, we highlight the presence of threated species like the puma (Puma concolor), the deer (Mazama gouazoubira) and the giant anteaters (Myrmecophaga tridactyla). The chosen method showed up effective in raising terrestrial mammalian species of medium and large neotropical forest area, having a good applicability and advantages over other existing methods. The study area presents a huge diversity of species and, therefore, this work it is recommended to be only the beginning of new researches in the area in order to enrich... The Health Care Wastes (HCW) present serious risks to health and to the environment, if incorrectly managed, because in addition to the presence of pathogenic agents, the may pollute the soil and the water. Thus, a study was performed aiming at diagnosing the HCW management in Araraquara (SP), identifying the difficulties of the agents (municipal gestors and managers of institutions which generate this wastes) in implanting the HCW management Plan (HCWMP) proposed by ANVISA, in order to subside the HCWMP implantation. The methodology was based on question applications in health centers selected to be the samples, and on quantitative data related to the phases of Treatment and Final Disposal, provided by DAAE. As a result, it was observed that a great part of the interviewed centers managed these wastes according to norm RDC no 306/ 2004 of ANVISA. However, only 24% of the interviewed centers knew about this norm, and only 22% of them had the HCWMP. The difficulties in managing the HCW concentrated in the correct segregation of theses wastes in the generation source. The large number of people involved in this phase suggests the causes of the difficulties.

Large electric motors require greater care when driving, especially during continuous operation since they are part of day-to-day manufacturing sector, acting essentially to ensure that no damage occurs to the production process and equipment that are part of the same system. This work includes the analysis of electrical protection in a system comprised of a three phase induction motor driven by a frequency converter as well as an analysis of the functions of a multifunction electronic relay. It is presented a comparison between the existing functions in a converter and a relay and a real case is described in order to exemplify the use of an electric motor and features that are aimed at their protection, and the system in which it is inserted. Based on the results, it is of great importance in this field of performance studies, generating relevant results, which may be exposed in order to unify into a single document, different sources of information that are arranged randomly, improve utilization motor and extend the life of equipment forming part of the electrical installation

The climate is one of the main elements of the natural environment that governs the life of man. Specific conditions of temperature, humidity, light, wind and precipitation have direct influence on physiological conditions that man needs to survive and more than that, besides the influence on human and animal physiology, the climatic elements are also responsible for a significant portion of economic activities such as industry, agriculture, commerce, transportation, and others. Therefore, any change in weather patterns has great impact on daily activities, and even more in urban sites, where the most of population is concentrated nowadays. Based on this discussion and concerned in understand the atmospheric structure, this monograph intends to analyze the pattern of atmospheric and temperature element in seven cities of small and medium size located in the state of São Paulo countryside... This work presents a study of the absorption refrigeration system and the modeling and evaluation of two cycles using the binary solutions water-lithium bromide and ammonia-water for an equipment to be used in small size plants like residences. The study and evaluation aims the complete understanding of all parts of the system and the influence of each one of them as well as the spread of the knowledge to raise the use of this type of equipment in all sizes in order to decrease the energetic consumption of plants of all scales and making viable the alternative sources. The study is done in each element of the cycle separately and in some auxiliary equipments required in the operation such as the main power source, the solar collector. The software used for modeling, with emphasis on thermal part, was the EES (Engineering Equation Solver), that permitted the thermal balance calculus and acquisition of the used fluids properties. The results obtained for the equipment shows the system is more complex than the widely used in business, however, it can be viable and represents an alternative to increase the energetic efficiency

Facing a global scenario where oil is scarce and the emission of CO2 in the atmosphere is a world concern, the search for new methods of energy production becomes the focus of all countries. Based on these assumptions, the wind power gains highlight and happen to be the most exploited around the world, since this does not produce toxic waste, since it uses the wind, no raw material shortage and its cost and efficiency are increasingly attractive. Taking advantage of the geographical features of Brazil, coastal and territorial extension, this study aims to analyze the feasibility of using wind turbines widely used in Germany, one of the countries with the highest production of energy through wind, in Brazil. In order to increase the energy production without causing more environmental impacts, geographical analyses will be made, and to determine the features and costs of production of this type of energy generation, and at the end of this dissertation, will finish for one of the turbines, Montana, is it feasible to install, however due to the Government's little incentive return is not very expressive. With respect to the turbine Passaat, this is infeasible to install under current conditions
