This work aims to examine, the behavior of a combustion chamber in pilot scale, coupled to a regenerative burner. The objective is to obtain a computational domain capable of supporting a simulation of conventional combustion and flameless combustion regimes. Eficiência energética em uma indústria madeireira

In wood processing industries, which use electrical equipment in the production process, in most cases these are badly scaled or operate under inadequate conditions, resulting directly in industrial energy efficiency, which proves important because besides having technological innovation, also with practices and policies, aims to decrease power consumption. So in a wiring project should take into account the variables that influence energy efficiency. Thus this work has been reviewed and subsequently calculated some of these variables, such as active power, power factor and demand for the entire industry (global) and also for specific equipment, the chipper. The network analysis was performed in a wood processing industry in the city of Taquarivaí - SP, and evaluated these variables with a network analyzer and also by analysis on energy bills, which were found in both analysis levels below those found in literature. These factors are due to poor design, improper use, storage of equipment or even by characteristic of the production process, ie, the equipment running on empty because of the volatility of production

A implantação da televisão digital terrestre na Espanha

This monograph has as objectives introduce digital terrestrial television, describing the process of installation of this in Spain, their technical qualities and possibilities of change and innovation that this creates. The exposure of the different chapters of this monograph has a objective presenting and discussing what are the characteristics of this new technology, your birth, what is its importance in communication and how this is inserted inside the Spanish reality. The introduction of digital terrestrial television in Spain is cited as an example of a pioneer in the development and installation of this new technology, but also appears as a nation that has come a way with some economic failures, reaching one of the largest cases of delayed installation of digital television in Western Europe. Making use of the European system for digital terrestrial television (DVB-T - Digital Video Broadcasting) it was possible some advances as the quality of communication and strengthening national public television system, but many vices of analog system were transferred this new system, as the concentration of channels to a foreign group and interactivity opportunities were wasted. Digital terrestrial television can provides better picture quality and sound, possibility of interactivity, mobility, hypermedia and multiprogramming, while the latter tool may lead to the democratization of media, opening it to other social agents. Going much further than just a technological advancement, digital television is strongly connected with the politics and the economy of the nation in which it operates

Clonagem, expressão e purificação de três mutantes truncados da proteína LaRPA-1 de Leishmania amazonensis

A leishmaniose é uma doença que atinge milhões de pessoas no mundo e, de acordo com a FUNASA, está se espalhando por todas as regiões do Brasil. O tratamento desta zoonose é ineficaz, pois os fármacos utilizados apresentam muitos efeitos colaterais e colaboram com o aparecimento de parasitas e vetores resistentes. Portanto um maior conhecimento sobre a biologia molecular destes protozoários poderá facilitar o descobrimento de novas terapias e desenvolvimento de drogas antiparasitárias. O complexo telomérico é formado pela interação de DNA com proteínas, sendo que estas últimas podem também interagir entre si. A proteína RPA de eucariotos compreende um complexo trimérico subdividido em três subunidades. Este cumpre independentemente ou juntamente com outras proteínas diversas funções vitais para a célula, entre elas, auxiliar na manutenção dos telômeros e ajudar a recrutar a telomerase. Além disso, ela parece ser um dos principais componentes do complexo de proteínas que interagem com o terminal simples fita telomérico de protozoários tripanosomatídeos. Curiosamente, em Leishmania spp., as subunidades 2 e 3, ao contrário da subunidade 1 da RPA, não fazem parte do complexo telomérico. Portanto a LaRPA-1 pode apresentar comportamentos peculiares quando comparada a RPA dos outros eucariotos, e se tornar um importante alvo ao se estudar a biologia molecular do parasita. Este trabalho tem como objetivo clonar, expressar e purificar os três diferentes mutantes truncados da proteína LaRPA-1 para, futuramente, utilizar-se estas proteínas recombinantes como ligantes em ensaios de interação proteína:proteína, visando mapear possíveis sítios ou domínios na proteína LaRPA-1.O gene que codifica LaRPA-1 já encontrava-se clonado e sequenciado no laboratório de Telômeros da UNESP de Botucatu....(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo)

Efeito da infecção prévia com Strongyloides venezuelensis no desenvolvimento do diabetes experimental do tipo 1

O diabetes mellitus do tipo 1 (T1D) é uma doença autoimune cujo tratamento é parcialmente eficaz. A terapia existente visa apenas controlar a progressão da patologia através da injeção diária de insulina exógena, portanto, uma alternativa terapêutica ou profilática para a doença é necessária. A indução do T1D por administração de estreptozotocina (STZ) em camundongos C57BL/6 é considerada um modelo bastante adequado para a investigação dessas estratégias. Além disto, vários trabalhos demonstram que o contato com antígenos ambientais pode diminuir ou impedir as manifestações clínicas do T1D e de outras doenças autoimunes. Assim, o objetivo geral desta investigação foi avaliar o efeito da infecção prévia com Strongyloides venezuelensis no desenvolvimento do T1D. Inicialmente, acompanhamos a dinâmica da infecção em camundongos C57BL/6 para a determinação da resposta imune estabelecida na fase de recuperação da infecção, e posteriormente, avaliamos o efeito da infecção no T1D. Durante a fase de recuperação, caracterizada pelo desaparecimento de ovos nas fezes, ocorreu uma resposta imune de padrão misto (Th1/Th2) com predomínio de Th2, caracterizado pela presença de IgG1 e produção significativa de IL-4, IL-5 e IL-10. Este padrão de resposta determinou um efeito protetor discreto no desenvolvimento do T1D, caracterizado por diminuição do percentual de ilhotas com inflamação mais acentuada. Estes resultados mostram, portanto, que a infecção prévia com S. venezuelensis não impediu, de forma significativa, o desenvolvimento de insulite em modelo experimental de diabetes induzido por STZ

Baja SAE competitions challenge engineering students to design and build offroad vehicles, preparing them for the competitive job market. This monograph aims to study a part of the braking of a Baja SAE vehicle system, the brake disc. Giving attention to the wear suffered by discs of two different materials, steel 1045 and stainless steel 304, helping the team Piratas do Vale Bardahl in the best selection between them. Braking tests were performed on a test bench. Both discs have suffered the same braking conditions. Brake pads material, brake line pressure, braking time, number of braking, were parameters which were repeated in the testing of different types of disk, in order to ensure a high power comparison between the obtained data. Before and after the disk tests were weighed and measured, to make a comparison. After the brake tests, the disks were subjected to hardness and surface roughness testing. With the data collected and observations made in the worn parts, the comparison between these two materials was made, obtaining a selection of the best material for the team. The tests showed that steel 1045 has more advantages, compared to stainless steel 304, when applied to brake discs, on the tested conditions

Given the competitive reality of the globalized market, companies are compelled to develop strategic aspects of the management process, in order to ensure their survival. Among the strategic aspects is the price formation process, whose reasoning occurs mainly of adoption through cost system. Knowledge of costs and expenses provides conditions for the company to position itself strategically in the market, being able to follow the price of competition and sometimes even surpass them, called, more and more attention with regard to price formation. This study aims to identify the best price to be transferred to the market. To this end, were approached concept of pricing and its components, their strategies and pricing objectives, as well as the influence of demand on price formation, as well as the added value the brand and quality; and even a careful analysis of the price established by the said company in the service offered. We used the method of literature review and case study in the company ESA international aeronautical industry. Thus, we sought to explain about the main concepts for pricing in order to support decision making

Análise dos efeitos adversos dos benefícios concedidos às Microempresas e Empresas de Pequeno Porte (EPP) nas licitações públicas brasileiras

The Micro and Small Enterprises are in a special group of companies it given potential for development, employability, and integration into society. Although in Brazil they have high mortality rates, resulted to creation of the Statute of Micro and Small Enterprise in order to encourage it through tax benefits and advantages in public procurement processes. However, the other side of the debate, the public procurement process is the moment when the Public Sector relates to the Private Sector to materialize works, services and shopping. These procurement processes have itself weaknesses, such as excessive bureaucracy, delays and corruption, leading us to inquire: is a good idea promotes the development of micro and small enterprises through weaknesses procurement process? This discussion using theoretical framework, and an analysis of two case studies where the winners of procurement were two enterprises benefited from the Statute of Micro and Small Enterprises

Estudo comparativo sobre a eficácia de duas drogas de ação anti-inflamatória (Etoricoxib e Diclofenaco) após exodontia de terceiros molares inferiores inclusos.

In this article the authors clinically compare the efficacy of two different anti-inflammatory drugs - Etoricoxib (Arcoxia®) and Diclofenac (Olfen®) – in the control of postoperative pain resulting from the surgical removal of impacted lower third molars. Fifteen patients requiring the extraction of bilaterally impacted lower third molars were selected at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Araraquara School of Dentistry – UNESP. The drugs were randomly administered during the first and second surgical procedures. Pain was evaluated by means of a visual analogic scale for 72 hours following the surgical procedure. After statistical analysis of the results, the authors concluded that there were no significant differences in terms of postopoerative pain control between the two drugs studied.
