The deslignification with oxygen, also denominated pre-O2, consists in a whitening stage, which consists of accomplishing an oxidation of the lignin, and remove it with the alkali, providing a larger earnings in the bleaching of the pulp. The pre-O2 is a process already very established, where a significant part of the cellulose of whitened short fiber produced nowadays suffers deslignification for this method. The conditions of work of this stage contemplate directly in the results of the deslignification level, in the physical, optical and mechanics properties of the pulp, and consequently of the paper, because this is important to know their effects fully. The main variables related to the control of this process are respectively: pressure and oxygen load, alkaline load, consistence, time and temperature, being this last variable was the study focus in this work. The objective of the work was to analyze the effect of the variation of the temperature in the oxygen whitening along every bleaching process of the pulp, refine and in the optical, physics and mechanics properties of the paper. The development of the work was based in four temperature levels (90, 95, 100 and 105°C) combined to two whitening sequences (OD0(E+P)D1P and OAHTD0(E+P)D1P). The results obtained in the oxygen deslignification stage indicated that the elevation of the temperature contemplated in increases of the whiteness, deslignification efficiency and in the viscosity loss allied to the reduction of the selectivity of the process. In the remaining of the whitening, the sequence that included the acid hydrolysis presented values slightly inferior of whiteness, kappa number, viscosity and yield in relation to the other sequence when compared with the samples of same temperatures. This study has as objective determining the chemical properties that serve as the basis for potential scientific and technological applications of seven species of fibrous plants cultivated in Brazil, which are: Banana” (Musa spp.), “Coco” (Cocos nucifera), Curauá (Ananas erectifolius), Fique (Furcraea andina), Piteira” (Furcraea gigantea), Sisal(Agave sisalana) and “Taboa” (Typha domingensis). The tests for determining the percent dry completely, extractives soluble in cold water, in hot water, in sodium hydroxide 1% and in ethanol-toluene, and the percentages of ash, hydrophobicity, lignin, holocellulose and cellulose were performed at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Agronomy College (FCA) of UNESP – Botucatu, São Paulo State. It also presents a literature review about these fibers and their potential applications. Differences between the results obtained and those found by other authors are possibly explained by variations on the origin of plant material, the harvest season, the climate and soil where they were grown. However, the results and the methodology used, serve as a basis for further studies with natural fibers

The waste, exaggerated and incorrect disposal of biomass are common practices in modern times where everything is disposable. However the growing concern with the nature and the environment compel man to give nobler destinations for these products through sustainability and recycling of waste. Banana peel is a residual biomass, which is not consumed. It generates tons of waste per week in São Paulo city. This trash is disposed in dumps and landfills, which could be reduced by using it as reinforcement in natural composites. The high density polyethylene (HDPE) is a polymer derived from the ethylene polymerization and is easily recycled. Which makes it a sustainable material. In the present work characteristics of the natural composite composed with banana peel and high-density polyethylene were studied. It was noted that removing the lignin present in the banana peel, the fiber introduces a significant improvement in thermal resistance. The preparation of composite was made with a ratio of 5% and 10% of reinforcement in comparison with polymeric matrix mass. Composites were thermally, mechanically and microscopically characterized. The addition of fiber in the polymer increased the mechanical strength of the composite. The fiber surface treatment with distilled water removed the amorphous material present in the fibers, improving significantly thermal stability and increasing crystallinity of the celullose. The addition of 5% fiber in mass to the polymer increased significantly the tensile strength and elasticity modulus for the composite. With 10% of fiber addiction there were also an improvement when compared with pure HDPE, but when compared with 5% composite the mechanical properties are slightly lower. Fibers are non-digestible materials by human organism, and they are insoluble in specific conditions. The corn fiber has been used as an alternative to enrich the food products for human consumption, in order to add nutritious value to this co-product. This study aimed at determining the chemical and fractions components of corn fiber, extracted by semi-wet milling in laboratory (LabF), and by semi-humid milling in industrial process (IndF); and microbiological analyses were perform in the last fraction. The fiber composition differed significantly among these two products as to moisture, ash, lipids, proteins, insoluble dietary fiber, neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), cellulose and lignin contents. The sample IndF showed microbiological parameters in compliance with the specifications for consumption. The investigated corn fiber may effectively contribute to increase the fiber intake in the diet. As the industrially processed fiber (IndF) showed compliant microbiological parameters with the specifications for food, this component might be incorporated into the food products formulation.
