Bacterial cellulose is a highly hydrated pellicle made up of a random assembly of ribbon shaped fibers less than 5 nm wide. The unique properties provided by the nanometric structure have led to a number of diagnostic biological probes, display devices due to their unique size-dependent medical applications. Bacterial cellulose matrix extracellular is a novel biotechnology and unique medicine indicated for ultimate chronic wound treatment management, drug delivery, tissue engineering, skin cancer and offers an actual and effective solution to a serious medical and social problem and to promote rapid healing in lesions caused by Diabetic burns, ulcers of the lower limbs or any other circumstance in which there's epidermal or dermal loss. In this work, it is reported novel antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) bacterial cellulose/polyhexanide biguanide (PHMB) which are produced by symbioses culture between polyhexanide biguanide and green tea culture medium resulting in the pure 3-D structure consisting of an ultra-fine network of novel biocellulose/PHMB nanofibres matrix (2-8 nm), highly hydrated (99% in weight), and with higher molecular weight, full biocompatibility.

A better understanding of the paracrine and autocrine regulatory loops within the cumulus-oocyte complex (COC) is fundamental for the improvement of in vitro maturation (IVM) outcomes in humans and domestic species. This review presents the most important local regulators identified in the COC to date with special attention to those secreted by the oocyte and acting on cumulus cells, as well as their roles in different processes crucial for the successful maturation of the COC. An autocrine regulatory loop mediated by epidermal growth factor-like (EGF-like) peptides in cumulus cells triggers COC maturation. During COC differentiation, oocyte secreted factors (OSFs), particularly members of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF beta) and fibroblast growth factor (FGF) families, regulate meiotic resumption, cumulus expansion, cumulus metabolism, apoptosis and steroidogenesis.

Cutaneous melanoma is a malignancy caused by the uncontrolled proliferation of melanocytes. Has been increasing in incidence and mortality over the years. This type of tumor may arise in the skin or any other place where there was migration of neural crest cells. Melanocytes are located in the basal layer of the epidermis forming the epidermal melanin unit, involving a melanocyte to 36 keratinocytes. The proliferation of melanocytes depends on this relationship with the keratinocytes, gap junctions, E-cadherin and desmoglein. The basal membrane is responsible for promoting the integrity of the skin, their adhesion structures shown to be altered in several skin diseases. Some molecules that play the role of adherence in this membrane are the laminins, type IV collagen and type XVII and perlecan. Analysis of protein expression of cell adhesion molecules in melanoma by immunohistochemistry on tissue microarray (TMA). We selected paraffin blocks of patients who were diagnosed with cutaneous melanoma in the period 1995 to 2010, reaching a sample of 124 cases. All these have gone through review of preparation for subsequent histological analysis of tissue microarray (TMA). The protein expression will be analyzed by immunohistochemistry, using markers anti-laminin, anti-collagen type IV and type XVII and anti-perlecan. There was a predominance of female patients, Caucasians and southeastern Brazil. There were frequent in type of extensive superficial ulcers with Breslow depth greater than 4 mm, Clark level IV and mitotic index greater than 6 mitoses per cga. The patients, most of them were female with mean age of 57.13 years and Caucasian. The most frequent histological type was extensive superficial followed by acral lentiginous. Predominated cases very deep, with Breslow thickness greater than 4 mm, Clark IV, ulcerated and on average by 9 cga mitosis, leading to worse prognosis in this sample. Bulbophyllum, which comprises 1876 species, is considered the second largest genus of angiosperms, with a pantropical distribution. The morphological and anatomical floral studies in the genus are incipient, with data restricted to the gynostemium and lip of some species. Based on molecular data, six sections were recognized within Bulbophyllum at the Neotropics, amongst them Bulbophyllum sect. Micranthae, which comprises 12 species distributed in central South America. We aimed to study the floral anatomy of six species of Bulbophyllum sect. Micranthae, in order to determine useful characters to differentiate them and contribute to the anatomical characterization of the section as a whole. Floral anatomy was assessed through usual techniques of light microscopy. The data found here for B. adiamantinum, B. chloroglossum, B. epiphytum, B. mentosum, B. micranthum and B. rupicolum allowed to identificate the presence of glandular trichomes and the possible presence of a secretory region on the lip, which might produce substances used as a reward to pollinators. The most significant anatomical characters to the species characterization were the shape and ornamentation of the outer periclinal walls of the epidermal cells, as well as the number of vascular bundles in dorsal and lateral sepals and at the lip. The data also allowed the differentiation between B. epiphytum and B. rupicolum, species very similar in morphology and phylogenetically related. Besides that, the data also allowed the discussion regarding the maintenance of B. mentosum within the section: although its inclusion is supported by molecular studies, the anatomical data here presented shows greater differences compared to the other species, not supporting its maintenance in Bulbophyllum sect. Pemphigus complex in animals is considered rare, but not so when compared with the occurrence of other autoimmune diseases. Pemphigus Foliaceus in dogs is the most common varieties of pemphigus and is characterized clinically by intraepidermal pustules, starting on the face and ears, pads, groin, and may become multifocal or generalized in six months. As the pustules are very fragile, the lesions usually found are secondary, which may range from dry to collarettes epidermal crusting, and nasal depigmentation. The diagnosis is difficult because presents sintomatology similar to other diseases and laboratory diagnosis more precise through the histopathological examination of pustules integrate (biopsy), which are rarely found. The treatment, although of the individual treatment regimen, is based on treating opportunistic diseases and immunosuppressing the animal in order to decrease the production of autoantibodies. The drugs of choice depend on the clinical presentation, however is usually oral prednisone and azathioprine in the dog and combined immunosuppressive therapy. Should make use daily until the disease is inactive and gradually decrease the dose until have the minimum effective dose, preferably on alternate days for the remission of the disease. Prognosis of pemphigus varies according to disease stage and treatment established. Pemphigus foliaceus is less serious nonetheless might be fatal without treatment
