It is known that the urban environment modifies the energy balance between the surface and the atmosphere, causing changes in temperature, relative humidity, among other things, opening the way for studies aimed at urban climatology. Based on the theme of urban climate, this research focuses on the city of Assis, located west of São Paulo. The generation of urban climate is a result of various factors, among which stand out: the use and different land use, the thermodynamic properties of buildings, number of buildings in the urban, socioeconomic activities, etc.. In general, this increases the temperature and reducing relative humidity, providing thermal discomfort. The rural environment is used for comparison studies to this theme by presenting different characteristics in relation to the structure, morphology and urban functionality. The main objective of this study is to determine the characteristics of temperature and humidity environments with the habits and occupations of the different soils in winter, at night, one inserted into the urban fabric of Assis and the other in the rural environment, to verify for evidence of changes in climatic elements because of urbanization. To collect the data will be used mini automatic weather stations that record data on temperature and humidity. For analysis of the results will be made between the data obtained in the city and the countryside, developing graphics application using Excel to tabulate the data. It was found that there were differences in the thermo-hygrometric data collection points, showing a specific urban climate in the city of Assis

The climate is one of the main elements of the natural environment that governs the life of man. Specific conditions of temperature, humidity, light, wind and precipitation have direct influence on physiological conditions that man needs to survive and more than that, besides the influence on human and animal physiology, the climatic elements are also responsible for a significant portion of economic activities such as industry, agriculture, commerce, transportation, and others. Therefore, any change in weather patterns has great impact on daily activities, and even more in urban sites, where the most of population is concentrated nowadays. Based on this discussion and concerned in understand the atmospheric structure, this monograph intends to analyze the pattern of atmospheric and temperature element in seven cities of small and medium size located in the state of São Paulo countryside... Devido à ação antrópica e consequente fragmentação e degradação do bioma Cerrado, as Unidades de Conservação cada vez mais se inserem como importantes locais de retenção da biodiversidade. A Estação Ecológica de Itirapina apresenta-se como um dos poucos locais do Estado de São Paulo que conservam as diversas fitofisionomias comuns nesse domínio. No intuito de contribuir com informações que auxiliem na conservação e restauração desse bioma, este trabalho traz como questões: as “Ilhas” de Vegetação facilitam o processo de sucessão no Campo Cerrado da Estação Ecológica de Itirapina, SP? Há diferença na regeneração em função da cobertura de copa condicionada pelas espécies formadoras das ilhas estudadas? Para isso, foram selecionadas ilhas com predomínio de Dalbergia miscolobium Benth. (Fabaceae), de Hancornia speciosa Gomes (Apocynaceae) e “Ilhas” Mistas, nas quais levantaram-se todos os indivíduos lenhosos e sublenhosos em parcelas montadas sob sua cobertura de copa e no seu entorno, além de amostrada a cobertura do estrato herbáceo, em função da aplicação do Método do Toque. Comparando-se o entorno e o interior das ilhas analisadas através do uso do Teste t pareado, foram relacionados os componentes diversidade, densidade, riqueza, cobertura do estrato herbáceo, além dos parâmetros de estrutura de habitat: temperatura, luminosidade, umidade do ar e do solo, e biomassa de serrapilheira. Utilizando-se a análise de ANOVA foram usados os mesmos parâmetros para a comparação das ilhas entre si. Alguns resultados nas Mistas, como a diversidade e cobertura do estrato herbáceo (t=5,113; p=0,00373/ t=-3,51; p=0,017, respectivamente), e nas ilhas de Dalbergia miscolobium, como a densidade e a riqueza (t=3,264; p=0,0223/ t=2,850; p=0,0463, respectivamente), associados com análises de estrutura de habitat (para p≤0,06), indicaram... This work deals with the thermal load study of a fictitious aircraft as well as scaling, in terms of the airflow and temperature of the air conditioning system, for heating and cooling of the its internal environment, aiming the thermal comfort of occupants. The first part is presented the techniques and methods utilized for modeling different heat exchanges that occur in the aircraft and then allowed to calculate the total heat load and the airflow and temperature necessary to comply with the requirements of the thermal comfort. Techniques to determine the basic parameters, as convection coefficient and global coefficient of heat exchange, are also presented. The work aims to develop a program, using a computational tool, to automate the calculations so that facilitate this study. It also allows to be used for other airplanes just changing parameters and the control variables related to the specific project. Finally the program performs calculations for a fictitious airplane, to analyze its functionality and the influence of parameters involved in the temperature controls. The program allowed analyzing the sensitivity of portions of the thermal load and the corresponding parameters of influence, as well as the scaling of the air conditioning in terms of airflow and temperature. It was considered, despite the simplifications, a good approximation to the actual values and then can be used in development of the other airplanes

Os morcegos estão constantemente expostos a condições ambientais que podem alterar o seu padrão de atividade. No presente trabalho descrevemos a atividade horária de morcegos filostomídeos em três áreas florestais no sudeste do Brasil. Também testamos a influência da temperatura ambiente, luminosidade da lua e de diferentes áreas na atividade de Carollia perspicillata. Foram coletados 154 indivíduos pertencentes à família Phyllostomidae, sendo 37,7% deles representados por C. perspicillata (n = 60). Glossophaga soricina, Sturnira lilium e Desmodus rotundus apresentaram um padrão unimodal em sua atividade. Já Anoura caudifer, Chrotopterus auritus e Micronicterys microtis demonstraram uniformidade nas capturas ao longo da noite. C. persprcillata apresentou um padrão bimodal, com picos de atividade no início e final da noite, no entanto a espécie foi ativa durante todo o período. Houve diferença na atividade de C. perspicillata entre as áreas, sendo uniformemente distribuída nas áreas I e III, e unimodal na área II. A temperatura ambiente e a luminosidade do luar não foram fatores decisivos na regulação da atividade de C. perspicillata.

The study and selection of an equipment of air conditioner for any type of environment, should be made without overestimate or undersizing the project. The undersizing does not provide an adequate comfort temperature if the environment is too hot because the air conditioner does not remove all the heat necessary in the environment. But if the project is oversized, energy consumption is higher and there is an unnecessary cost. To prevent these failures is necessary to make a calculation of the thermal load on the environment and choose the equipment that has a higher cooling capacity than the calculated heat load and closer to the calculated heat load. In this graduate work will be chosen an air-conditioned equipment for bus, showing the calculations made for the thermal load for various types of heat gain in this type of vehicle. The thermal load on vehicles is more complicated to calculate than in areas because there are several factors that vary with the movement of the vehicle. It will also explain the compression refrigeration cycle, which is the cooling system used in vehicles because it is weightless, compact and lower cost. From the calculated heat load, it will be chosen an air conditioner that best suits the project and, finally, a brief presentation of the selected equipment will be made

In this work, it was studied the thermal and fluid dynamic behavior from theorical and experimental point of view of a blast furnace tuyere. The tuyere is responsible for the hot air insuflation into the blast furnace. The parameter used in the comparison was the difference between the cooling water inlet and outlet temperatures. There were used forced convection correlations inside circular sections with adequations for non circular sections. Based on operations dates of flux and thermal loads it was possible to model numerically the tuyere, and, since it was obtained the wall temperatures, estimate the conduction and convection resistances and the heat flux through the walls in contact with the water. The total heat fluxes from wall to water were applied to the energy conservation equation where could be estimated the theorical temperature variation. Compared to the real value, the theorical value presented a difference of 0,2 °C. Considering that the boundary conditions around the tuyere are transitories and that your channels have some rugosity irregularities we can consider the estimation method for cooling system coherent with the real operational parameters

The internal combustion engine is a heat engine widely used in the automotive industry. In order to better understand its behavior many models in the literature have been proposed in the last years. The 0-D thermodynamic model is a fairly simple tool but it is very useful to understand the phenomenon of combustion inside the chamber of internal combustion engines. In the first phase of this work, an extensive literature review was made in order to get information about this kind of analysis and, after this, apply them in a model able to calculate the instantaneous temperature and pressure in one zone of the combustion chamber of a diesel engine. Therefore some considerations were made with the aim of increasing the accuracy of the model in predicting the correct behavior of the engine, adding the combined effects of heat transfer, leakage and injection. In the second phase, the goal was to study the internal flow of a three-dimensional model of an internal combustion engine. In order to achieve this goal the software Solidworks was used to create the geometries of an engine and the suite of softwares Ansys was used to create the moving mesh (ICEM CFD and CFX-Pre) and to solve the CFD problem (Ansys CFX code). The model was able to perform the air flow simulation during the four-stroke cycle of an engine: admission, compression, expansion and exhaust. The results obtained from both models were suitable and they open a new range of possibilities for future researches on the field

In this paper we investigate the temperature variation of the mass of waste along the depth in a household waste landfill of Rio Claro - SP, São Paulo, having a climate characterized as Tropical Altitude. In this research, there were two holes in two distinct points of the landfill, with different depths and characteristics in order to fix several thermal sensors - RTDs - to record the temperature at predetermined depths. Overall, the results show the influence of temperature at depths of up to 3.0 meters (from the surface) and that it varies in a manner to stabilize at depths above 5.0 meters. The highest temperature obtained was approximately 37.5 ° C for a time of waste disposal of 7 to 10 years. The results showed the presence of organic matter (substrate) which resulted in elevated temperature resulting from biological activity

We report here a study about the application of a formal teaching strategy about heat and temperature concepts applied among high school students. The strategy belongs to a research trend which deals with epistemological analogies and has an innovative character related to the students’ preparation for rational debates between conceptions and/or rival theories, using didactical rational reconstruction (DRR) which aims to help scientific concepts rational learning. We investigate the outcomes of this preparation and students’ conceptual development, analyzed through a qualitative-interpretative methodological approach.
