This study presents different modalities of ethics - guardianship, interlocution, social action, care and finally the ethics of listening to the subject's unconscious desire - as analyzers of the care practices conducted by psychologists in the field of Social Assistance. In an institutional approach, cases found in the literature are presented, in a questioning way, which can be considered examples of the practices performed by psychologists and other workers who operate in a wide variety of healthcare establishments. It was concluded that psychologists may encounter, in the field of Freudian/Lacanian psychoanalysis, consistent theoretical-technical and ethical-political instrumentals to guide institutional performance in an effective and informed way so as to include the individual as a citizen and also as the subject of the unconscious.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Low back pain is a common disease in several industrialized countries, being a public health and incapacity problem, especially among economically active people. This study aimed at grouping and updating knowledge about motor control exercises for low back pain. CONTENTS: Cochrane, Medline (Pubmed) and PEDro databases were queried in the period from 2000 to 2010, using the keywords low back pain, stabilization, multifidus, transversus, exercise and training. Six randomized clinical trials were found, which have shown that such exercises may be indicated for acute low back pain to prevent recurrences, in addition to their indication to decrease chronic low back pain and incapacity. CONCLUSION: Motor control exercises do not improve pain and incapacity in acute cases, but are effective for chronic cases to relieve pain, decrease incapacities and improve quality of life.

The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate in the casuistry on class and systems frequently diagnosed in wild animals that were sent to the FMVZ-UNESP-Botucatu diagnostic imaging service. The class of birds was the most referred to the centers, followed by the mammals and reptiles. The majority of the requested tests were the radiographs and in a minor scale the tomography and ultrasound. Although the birds were the greatest number of animals sent to the service, mammals were the most radiographed for wound control. The most frequently observed system was the musculoskeletal caused by trauma, especially in birds. The radiograph was the most exam initially indicated, then the animal could be forwarded to other imaging modalities, which in wild animals medicine is still limited to research.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD), which is a musculoskeletal condition of the masticatory system, may become chronic and further worsen quality of life (QL) of patients. Due to the inter-relationship between physical and emotional symptoms, there is an increasing search for the integrative model, which includes psychosocial approaches for the treatment of painful conditions. This study aimed at reviewing in the literature the impact of education and simple self-care modalities on pain and disorders related to chronic painful TMD. CONTENTS: Psychosocial factors are often involved with pain chronicity, making bio-behavioral approaches increasingly more indicated to change pain perception and to decrease distress and psychosocial changes which go along with persistent pain. CONCLUSION: Current literature, although not extensive, indicates positive results of education and self-care methods for chronic painful TMD. Further studies are needed to reinforce such findings and spread the application of such approaches to control chronic and TMD pain.
