The progressive condylar resorption is a irreversible complication that can result in malocclusion and facial deformity that can happen especially in postoperative orthognathic surgery of mandibular advancement or combined surgery. Predominantly affect young women, bearers of malocclusions of skeletal class II and with incidence of temporomandibular disorders prior to surgical treatment. Its exact etiology and pathogenesis remain unclear. The purpose of this article is to make a literature review of the last 10 years on the progressive condylar resorption. For this, we used the Medline database for articles in the English language. Then, 13 articles were found, evaluated and compared on predisposing factors, etiology, diagnosis and clinical management.

Titanium dental implants have been common practice in the dental office, which can increases the number of allergic reactions to this material. Objectives: to alert dental surgeons and specialists of this possible phenomenon through a literature review. Material and methods: an electronic search at PubMed was performed with the keywords dental implants, titanium, and allergy from January 1990 to May 2013. Only articles published in the English language were included. Letters to editor were excluded. Results: from the 22 initially retrieved articles, only 7 were included, being 4 clinical case reports and 3 experimental studies. For clinical cases, the reactions included edema, erythema, exfoliative cheilitis, and eczema. Regarding experimental studies, skin rash and dermatitis were reported. A patch test was not used in two clinical reports. Only one study used histological analysis to attest the lack of allergic reactions. Conclusion: within the limits of the available literature, allergic reactions to titanium dental implants are extremely rare and seem to be related to the female gender. More controlled clinical studies are necessary to elucidate this question.

With the search for treatments faster and aesthetic improvement of materials and surgical techniques, immediate implants have become a clinical reality increasingly practiced. Thus, based on literature the specific purpose of this study was to address critically the concepts of immediate implants, discussing issues related to dental extraction, milling technique, care of the periodontal tissues support and protection, prosthetic replacement, benefits, indications and contraindications. To this end, from Pubmed electronic crawler Medline, 54 articles published between 1990 and 2009, over 4 items classics, all in English were selected. The Studies have shown success rates for this technique Conventional techniques like two-stage surgery, many different techniques and planning are present among these techniques, and implants more immediate subject to failures.

This study was designed to present and discuss some results produced by a research involving the use of English subtitles of some news videos from the webiste Reuters.com (http://www.reuters.com) with pedagogical reasons in a Brazilian context (Academic English for Journalism). We have developed the research during two semesters at UNESP (Universidade Estadual Paulista Jlio de Mesquita Filho). The professor in charge of the study has chosen the students of Journalism as the audience to whom the videos were presented. The assumptions of many theorists and experts in Audiovisual Translation were adopted as our Theoretical Sources. The first step of the study was the assessment of the syllabus of each course. This was very helpful as a guidance in order to choose the most relevant and interesting videos for students. After the evaluation of academic and professional interests, we chose some videos to insert appropriate subtitles, according to some strategies suggested by Panayota Georgakopoulou and Henrik Gottlieb. Finally we presented the videos during the English classes. At the first time, they were presented without subtitles just to notice the comprehension level of the students. After that, the videos were presented with English subtitles. As we first assumed, the students havent had the whole comprehension of specific details during the first presentation, they have just used their previous knowledge and the visual aids to help them in a superficial understanding of the news. As the subtitles appear, the process of communication was finally accomplished.

This work is a study which deals with political, electoral and party features from the Republic of Malta. An interest that motivated the study is to understand how works the consolidated two-party system in the country, the cleavages which foster that features and the Maltese media groups alignment process to those prevailing political parties. Our goal is to identify the main factors which creates and maintain those features of a two-party model in Malta, and how much it overlaps the political and electoral models applied in the country. The analysis is mostly literature, also backing up data about the nation, on elections and political parties which allow enough stability for analysis and enables us an approach about the actual facts. The survey data and literature available is mainly in English, by the lack of academic papers on Malta in Brazilian Portuguese. Therefore, this work contributes as a small panorama of the Maltese political reality, which can serve as a point of comparison and reflection on other countries' realities, with a sharp bipolar political trend, strong social entrenchment of political parties, and media groups aligned to those

For some time, researchers in teacher education (ZEICHNER; LISTON, 1996; GIMENEZ, 2005) have been drawing attention to the need to place undergraduates in contexts of practice that help them make sense of the theoretical training they receive in the graduation course. In this article, we discuss the intersection between school and university for initial foreign language teacher education through activities carried out under the Brazilian Institutional Program for Initiation to Teaching Language and Literature of a state university. These activities were aimed, on the one hand, to promote reflection about the concept of culture and intercultural language teaching during initial teacher education and, secondly, to deconstruct stereotypes of high school students about German and English language and culture. Based on the analysis of data on the beliefs of students of the school and the support of theoretical studies such as Kramsch (2006, 2009), Bolognini (1993), among others, workshops were designed to expand the cultural universe of the high school students in the partner state school, the concept of culture and to deconstruct stereotypes. It was found that the activity contributed to the reflective education of the undergraduate students in relation to the treatment of the subject culture in language teaching.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo relatar a ocorrncia de cinco casos de neoplasias de língua em ces. Os sinais clnicos mais observados foram ptialismo, halitose e hiporexia. Aps bipsia excisional para exame histopatolgico, os resultados revelaram dois casos de melanoma, um caso de histiocitoma, um caso de fibrossarcoma e um caso de mastocitoma grau II, sendo que neste o proprietrio no autorizou qualquer forma de tratamento. O tratamento para os demais foi a glossectomia parcial e, no caso de fibrossarcoma, associou-se a quimioterapia. Dois animais apresentaram deiscncia de sutura no ps-operatrio, no havendo necessidade da realizao de nova interveno. em relao ao prognstico, os pacientes com histiocitoma, fibrossarcoma e um com melanoma no apresentaram recidiva, nem metstase da doena 12 meses aps a cirurgia. No outro caso de melanoma, o paciente apresentou metstase na pele e nos pulmes 30 dias aps a resseco cirrgica.

Estudiosos dos campos da Educao, da Lingustica Aplicada e da Formao de Professores de Línguas insistem hoje na grande importncia da incluso de Tecnologias de Informao e Comunicao (TICs) na formao inicial, bem como na necessidade de promover o desenvolvimento do pensamento crtico-reflexivo dos futuros professores. Tomando como pressupostos tericos estudos acerca das caractersticas da sociedade de informao, dos ambientes virtuais e da formao de professores, este trabalho tem como objetivo discutir possibilidades oferecidas pela plataforma Moodle de aprendizagem na formao inicial de professores de alemo. Para tanto, apresentaremos diferentes formas de uso de ambientes virtuais e de ferramentas neles disponveis, que demonstraram ser de grande valor no processo de formao de licenciandos, tanto em língua alem, quanto durante suas prticas iniciais. As experincias apontam para um valor inestimvel de ambientes virtuais no acompanhamento de licenciandos no processo de aprendizagem da língua e nas primeiras experincias com a docncia.
