The disordered occupation in several cities in Brazil, is very common, especially during the rainy season, there are numerous cases of gravitational mass movements, with deads of human and builds destruction. The main objective of this work was to identify and map areas to mass movements, through the geo, the municipality of Vrzea Paulista, the state of Sao Paulo. For the purpose, were prepared thematic maps of slope, geology, pedology, geomorphology and land use and occupation, which were overlaid using ArcGIS GIS Multicriteria Analysis. Each subject received a weight of influence to the outbreak of such processes and the final result was obtained map of susceptibility to mass movements of the city of Vrzea Paulista. This survey found that there are many occupied areas within the city that require monitoring of the Government, especially in the rainy months, because they are in very fragile in terms of geological and geomorphological features. Considering that the data on the physical and natural aspects are scarce in the literature for this region, the results obtained in this study as well as the gathering of information of the physical and cartographic products developed, will greatly contribute to the administration of the municipality, subsidies they provide for the proper use planning and land tenure, pointing out the weak areas of the city geotechnical point of view

Among the flow, the flows have the highest destructive potential, may cause disasters with a very high number of victims, as recorded in the events Caraguatatuba (SP) and the Serra das Araras (RJ) in 1967; Valeu do Rio Figueira, in Timb do Sul (SC) between 1995 and 1996; Vale do Itaja in Santa Catarina, in 2008, Terespolis, Petrpolis and Nova Friburgo (RJ), in December 2010 and January 2011. This project aimed to prioritize the main determinants of inducing processes of debris flows by applying the method of decision making AHP (Analytical Hierarch Process). Therefore, the following stages of work were defined: research of the major factors of debris flows, questionnaire design method for application of AHP expert on the subject, analysis of the results obtained from calculating the ratio of consistency and preparation of proposal for hierarchical of conditions for debris flows. From the surveys it was possible to establish a relationship of conditions according to the scale of work, defining three levels: regional (1:250,000 to 1:100,000), Semi-Detail (1:50,000 to 1:25,000) and Detail (1: 10,000 or higher). The factors found were: concentration time, the flood wave, rain, landslide susceptibility (slope), drainage and development in the deposition. The project analyzed the results obtained from the questionnaires, which allowed the ranking of the constraints, contributing to weight constraints in studies of multicriteria mapping of susceptibility to the occurrence of debris flows. The study showed that the most of the analyzed datas were inconsistent because of the different opinion of the judges

Mass spectrometry is a diagnosis that can aid in the understanding of the kinetics of chemical plasma environment. Through this you can get information about some species present in the environment and make inferences about the behavior of the plasma when parameters such as pressure and applied power changes. When analyzed plasmas generated by the discharge of argon and diglyme (both individually and mixtures of them in various proportions) could be found conditions in which the plasma behavior was different from what is often found in the literature. By the end some peculiar characteristics of plasmas generated by mixing argon / diglyme were raised and it was found that the noble gas is a good mediator of physical and chemical reactions that occur in the environment, and help in the understanding of chemical kinetics. Therefore mass spectrometry was shown highly important tool for the study of plasma environment

A destruio da camada de oznio resulta em um preocupante aumento na incidncia de radiao ultravioleta (UV) na superfcie da Terra, radiao esta, responsvel pela ocorrncia de danos na pele e pelo aparecimento do cncer de pele, tipo mais comum de cncer. Assim, neste trabalho foram desenvolvidos sistemas lquido-cristalinos multifuncionais contendo nanopartculas de dixido de titnio, cuja propriedade fotoprotetora bem conhecida, e alfa-tocoferol, um composto com ao antioxidante. Com isso, pretendeu-se desenvolver uma formulao que atue como protetor solar inorgnico, bloqueando a radiao UV e impedindo sua penetrao que pode causar srios danos pele, alm de conter o alfa-tocoferol que interage com os radicais livres, diminuindo os danos causados por estes. Para tanto, inicialmente foram preparadas formulações baseadas em dois diagramas de fases, as amostras que apresentaram separao de fase foram excludas do trabalho, e as outras foram submetidas anlise de microscopia de luz polarizadas. Atravs da microscopia de luz polarizada foi possvel concluir que a estrutura lquido-cristalina mantida com a incorporao dos ativos no sistema, o que posteriormente foi confirmado com a anlise por SAXS. A anlise do potencial zeta permitiu verificar que na faixa de pH entre 5 e 7, indicada para produtos de uso tpico, possvel evitar aglomerao das partculas, e com isso obter um visual transparente do produto. A avaliao do comportamento possibilitou concluir que todas as amostras apresentaram uma consistncia ideal para aplicao do produto na pele

Mass spectrometry is an analytical technique widely used in several areas of academic research. It allows the knowledge of the information about the micro-world of atoms leading to significant advances in science today. The analysis of stable isotopes of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur, also known as bio-elements, shows itself as a major area of interest in using the proposed method. The development of techniques and equipment coupled with mass spectrometry promises to deliver even greater progress in this field, in particular, for the biological sciences and related areas. The pyrolytic method in reduction of organic compounds at high temperatures provides simultaneous isotopic analysis of bio-elements H and O, by the gases released, H2 and CO after the pyrolitic process, significantly reducing analysis time and the amount of material to sample. This paper presents a review of mass spectrometry with its basic principles of operation, and pyrolytic method for reducing compounds at temperatures above 1400 C for isotopic analysis of bio-elements

This study aimed to evaluate the physico-mechanical performance of three PVA adhesive formulations according to the Brazilian standards for plywood testing and to evaluate the results with those presented in the technical literature and specified in normative documents. The study presents the production process of the panels, the obtaining of samples and, finally, the implementation of physico-mechanical characterization tests based on plywood Brazilian standards. For the panels production it was used a gramature of 120 g / m and applied a pressure of 15 bars and two temperature combinations and pressing time for each adhesive. The commercial adhesives used were PVA 1810, PVA 1060 and Vinyltec 239. The physical tests conducted were thickness swelling, density, moisture content and water absorption. The mechanical tests were static flexion, for the determination of elasticity modulus (MOE) and rupture modulus (MOR), and shear in the glue line. Among the three formulations studied none showed good performance in the presence of water. However, other trials in the adhesive showed better results and closer to the commercially equivalent used, in the case the urea-formaldehyde, was the PVA 1810, that can be applied in non-structural uses and in environments without the presence of moisture

In this paper we investigate the temperature variation of the mass of waste along the depth in a household waste landfill of Rio Claro - SP, So Paulo, having a climate characterized as Tropical Altitude. In this research, there were two holes in two distinct points of the landfill, with different depths and characteristics in order to fix several thermal sensors - RTDs - to record the temperature at predetermined depths. Overall, the results show the influence of temperature at depths of up to 3.0 meters (from the surface) and that it varies in a manner to stabilize at depths above 5.0 meters. The highest temperature obtained was approximately 37.5 C for a time of waste disposal of 7 to 10 years. The results showed the presence of organic matter (substrate) which resulted in elevated temperature resulting from biological activity

This paper reports the data on the cuiabana sausage historical aspect, and from the study performed on its technical/sensory characteristics. Four formulations of cuiabana-type sausage were prepared, varying the basic raw material (bovine, chicken and swine meats). For processing these sausages, the raw meats (beef, chicken and pork) were cut into cubes and together with the other ingredients (garlic, cheese, pepper and chives) they were weighed and homogenized. The resulting mixture was refrigerated for 24 hours for intensifying the flavor. Thereafter, it was stuffed into natural casings. These prepared samples were characterized on the physical-chemical profile and on the shelf life under refrigeration for over a seven day-storage in order to assess the microbiological contamination (total coliforms and fecal thermotolerant bacteria), sulphite-reducing clostridium, Salmonella spp., coagulase-positive Staphylococcus), and pH. The sensory evaluation and statistics analysis were carried out on the different types of laboratory- processed cuiabana sausage. Introducing over time changes in the cuiabana sausages formulation are positive factors; therefore, variations in the formulations it is feasible to get a better final product than that original one, and it might be resulted from the market demand.

Building on some core concepts of dialogic discourse analysis, this article aims to discuss, through an examination of the bestseller lists in Brazil during the years 2000 to 2010, the central features of contemporary mass literature. By the evidence of the prevalence of self-help books, we examine how the phenomenon is consisting. The conclusion that we get is that self-help can be seen both as a discourse genre and as style.

This work intends to test two theories about mass cultural products one that understands them as syncretic and plural and another that sees them as homogenizators and aimed to a mixed audience. We chose Veja magazine as the object of this study and tried to understand how its internal sessions bring in their readers, with the goal of verifying whether readers shared characteristics. In the affirmative case, Veja would be directed to a specific reader; otherwise, it would be a syncretic cultural product. This answer should give us basis to reflect upon the opposition between both ways of thinking about mass culture and help us take a stand on this discussion. Obviously, we do not intend to give a definitive answer to the opposition between these two tendencies. The limits of this work are given by the investigated object itself: we intend to verify empirically how Veja, as a cultural product, solves the contradiction that the co-existence of these two opposite theories point about mass society.
