Throughout the history of medicine surgeons realized the importance of the patella to the functioning of the knee. The main function of the patella is to increase the mechanical efficiency of the quadriceps tendon and knee extensor mechanism. It was found that 50% to 80% of the fractures without deviation of the patella have the transversal pattern, possibly due to excessive tensile forces applied to the extensor mechanism. The purpose of this study is to analyze the loads to which a patella is submitted during a normal extension movement of knee. This analysis will be done by modeling a 3D patella and subsequent load simulation as, described in medical literature, using the finite element method

Uma análise da eficiência de uma transmissão CVT

This undergraduate thesis evaluates the effects of temperature variation of the air inside the CVT gearbox on the performance of a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The CVT used in the tests was manufactured by Gaged Engineering (GX9 model) and is currently used in a Baja prototype. It’s a mechanically operated CVT, which the movement of the pulley plates varies according to the drive shaft rotation, shifting the belt along the diameter, and varying the transmission ratio. The purpose of this work is to analyze the change in the slip factor, coefficient that compares the variation between the actual transmission ratio and the ratio of geometric transmission, and its correlation with the power variation. In 2008 the United States had suffered from a financial crisis due to the real estate market, this movement affected other countries whose economy depends on the USA. Brazil suffered this crisis, but to avoid a greater turmoil in national territory the government launched some public policies to allow the market to keep working, that way allowing a cash flow more stable. Dossiê campo de públicas no Brasil: definição, movimento constitutivo e desafios atuais

This article introduces the Public’s Field, which brings together teachers and students of undergraduate courses in Public Administration, Public Management, Public Policy, Public Management and Social Policy in Brazil, around the republican and democratic ethos as values, and multidisciplinary approach as proposed construction of knowledge. Based on a literature review, documental analysis, and especially in participant observation of the authors as actors in the construction Field, the article is per se a dossier. It starts with the definition of the Field and describes - in detail - their constituent movement in the last 12 years, culminating in the approval of the National Curriculum Guidelines of Public Administration in 2013. The text shows the achievement and growth of Field in the country before the growing supply of undergraduate courses, stimulated by upgrading and expansion of the public sector. Finally, we list some challenges, concerning the process of institutionalization and identity.
