Análise de dados pedogeoquímicos de multielementos visando o refinamento de mapeamento geológico de detalhe em alvos de Pb-Zn nos municípios de Adrianópolis, Cerro Azul e Tunas do Paraná (Vale do Ribeira, PR)

In order to to research, the region of Perau, base metal mineralization, Grupo Votorantim Metals conducted a soil sampling on targets predetermined holding its chemical analysis. These reviews have been provided by the company for this work was to evaluate the potential use of these data pedogeochemical multi-element for refinement of the work of geological mapping. We selected six targets: Varginha, Salvador, Guararema Taquara Lisa and Coffin of Mendes, in the municipalities of Adrianople, Cerro Azul and Tunas do Paraná, located in Vale do Ribeira (PR). Both have about 10 km2 and situated in the geological context of the Fold Belt Terrane and the Massif de Joinville. The main rock types are present metasedimentary rocks of low to medium grade metamorphic, interspersed the amphibolites ortoderivados, both belonging to the Complex Perau, gneisses and migmatitic Complex. Applied to the geochemical data descriptive statistical techniques (variogram, kriging and histogram). From the correlation between the distributions of elements with the geological data, we could assess the potential of the proposed methodology.

Estudo morfométrico comparativo de populações de Rotylenchulus reniformis (Nemata: Rotylenchulinae) do Brasil

Quarenta e oito populações de Rotylenchulus reniformis foram recuperadas de amostras de solo e raízes de diferentes culturas e inoculadas em diferentes plantas hospedeiras, mantidas em microparcelas no Departamento de Fitossanidade da UNESP/FCAV, Campus de Jaboticabal, São Paulo. Os sintomas da doença causada pelo nematóide em algodoeiro (Gossypium hirsutum), no campo, foram documentados, bem como o hábito de parasitismo do nematóide em raízes de algodão e de mamoeiro (Carica papaya), utilizando-se de coloração in situ do nematóide com fuccina ácida. Efetuou-se a comparação morfológica de todas as populações, ao microscópio óptico composto, em montagens temporárias e, de algumas, ao microscópio eletrônico de varredura. Para as observações ao microscópio eletrônico de varredura, fêmeas adultas presas às raízes foram fixadas em glutaraldeído e pós-fixadas em tetróxido de ósmio, desidratadas em álcool etílico, secas em secador de ponto crítico, montadas, recobertas com 35 nm de ouro, observadas e elétromicrografadas em 15 kV. Os dados obtidos confirmam que R. reniformis é a única espécie do gênero distribuída nos agroecossistemas brasileiros e que a amplitude de variação de caracteres morfométricos em populações brasileiras desse nematóide, tais como comprimento do estilete, V % e forma da cauda, é maior que em populações da mesma espécie de outras regiões do mundo. Foram ilustradas fêmeas jovens de R. reniformis com a cauda bifurcada, e esse detalhe da morfologia do nematóide ainda não havia sido relatado.

Aspectos morfológicos e anatômicos da folha de Jacaratia spinosa (Aubl.) A.DC. (Caricaceae) foram estudados com detalhe. O limbo foliar possui organização dorsiventral, estômago anomocíticos, glândulas, laticíferos do tipo articulado anastomosado e epiderme papilosa na face abaxial. A venação é bronquidódroma terminando em alças no bordo foliar.

Avaliação tardia da função renal em doentes com paracoccidioidomicose tratados com anfotericina B por meio da determinação do ritmo de filtração glomerular com EDTA Cr51

A late survey of the renal function was performed in eighteen patients with paracoccidioidomycosis treated with amphotericin B, according to the glomerular filtration rate (RFG). The method was compartment analysis by single injection using EDTA Cr51, determined by its 'half biological life' and dosages of blood urea nitrogen and creatinine. The patients were seventeen males and one female. They were from 22 to 76 years old. Ten of these patients received 2 g of amphotericin B and eight of them received 4 g. There were no expressive difference between the two groups, taking into account age, dose in mg/kg of weight/day, time of conclusion of the treatment, urea, creatinine, glomerular filtration was smaller than the normal, and average of the half biological life of the EDTA Cr51 was large than the normal. The achieved results permitted us to consider that the amphotericin B determines deficit of renal function. However, by the present study, it hasn't been possible to affirm if the modifications are definitive.

SINDROME DE DUBOWITZ

A presentation of two cases of Dubowitz syndrome in monozigous twin girls. The syndrome is a rare congenital disorder, the main clinical aspects of which include retarded intrauterine and post-natal growth, microcephaly, peculiar face and an eczemic rash, resulting from photosensitivity of the regions exposed to sunlight.

DISTURBIO OBSESSIVO-COMPULSIVO E QUADROS CORRELATOS NA CLINICA DERMATOLOGICA

The article describes the obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), a not uncommon mental illness, of an unknown origin, for the most part, which can cause important dermatoses. Some OCD-related disorders of importance in dermatologic practice are also described, such as: body dysmorphic disorder, trichotillomania, onychophagia and factitial dermatitis. The importance of the proper identification of these disorders is stressed for the application for adequate therapy.

Ectima gangrenoso: Relato de caso

Report of a case of ecthyma gangrenosum with septicemia by Pseudomonas aeruginosa with favorable evolution in a 3-month-old boy. This disease is relatively rare, potentially lethal and the early diagnosis and treatment has an important role in the clinical evolution.

Tinea nigra: Relato de caso e revisao da literatura brasileira

The authors present a clinical case of palmar Tinea nigra in a 19-year-old young woman. The Brazilian literature concerning Tinea nigra is discussed as well as the reports presented in Brazilian Congresses from 1985 to 1995. The data show that 63.3% of the cases occurred in patients younger than 20-years-old, they were more frequent among females and 90.5% were localized on the palms; among the cases reported in the Brazilian Congresses those of atypical localization as the back and the genital area are worth noticing.

Granuloma facial: A proposito de dois casos

Granuloma faciale is a benign and rare disease restricted to the skin. Its etiopathogenesis is not related to systemic granulomatous and eosinophilic diseases. Two adult patients with reddish-brown lesions on the facial are reported. Among the treatments used, the more consistent results were observed with intralesional triamcinolona (Case 1) and with CO2 Laser (Case 2), with clear advantage of the laser therapy. The histopathology and the therapeutic options are discussed.

Sindrome das bandas ou constricoes amnioticas: Relato de caso

The authors present a case of constriction band syndrome in a 20-year-old male. There were constriction rings in the interphalangeal joints of hands and in the thigh, shortening of the lower limb and atrophic left gastrocnemius muscle. These findings belong to the described syndrome, which is uncommon and has no genetic implication. Personal antecedent: convulsive syndrome and corrective surgery for congenital bent foot.

Penfigo foliaceo no Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu, SP

BACKGROUND - Pemphigus foliaceus is an autoimmune bullous disease that is endemic in Brazil and in other South American countries such as Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia. OBJECTIVES - To compare the observed clinical and epidemiological data with those referred in the literature. METHOD - Retrospective study in patients with pemphigus foliaceus admitted to and treated at University Hospital of the School of Medicine of Botucatu, SP, Brazil, from 1976 to 1993, analyzing the following variables: age, sex, race, origin and onset of disease. RESULTS - From 1976 to 1993, 63 patients were treated, with an average of 3.7 cases/year. Patients within the age range of 20 to 60 years old were the most affected. Most of the patients were white, females being slightly more affected than males. The majority of male patients were rural workers. Some towns presented higher incidence of cases. Most of the patients from rural areas became sick mainly in summer and in autumn. Occurrence of similar cases was observed in blood-related family members and neighbors. CONCLUSIONS - Clinical and epidemiological data were similar to those referred in the literature.

Fatoriais fixos desbalanceados: Uma análise mal compreendida

Few users of statistical packages are capable of analyzing unbalanced factorials properly, because introductory textbooks do not discuss this topic in detail. The present article is directed to agriculture researchers, with the purpose of clarifying the differences among several widely used programs. It shows how to test useful hypotheses about population means in models having qualitative and quantitative factors. The paper emphasizes the pitfalls of blindly applying packages without prior knowledge of the hypotheses being tested.
