The present study is about an etnographic research based on the Theory of Social Representation and its complementary approach, the Theory of Central Core based on the bourdiesianos concepts of field and habitus , concerning that these concepts, articulated to the constructed social representation, may contribute to the study of social identities. Its aim is to acknowledge which identity references community health agents (CHA), agents from Community Health Agent Program (CHAP) and Family Health Program (FHP) from Joo Pessoa PB and which social representation is constructed by them towards health education. The study had the participation of 119 CHAs, from which 90,3 % were female and 9,7% were male. Since the identity is also built by the representation of others towards the group, 63 professionals of the FHP group (16 nurses, 16 nursing assistents, 12 doctors, 9 dentists, 6 dentistry office assistents, 4 coordinators, 1 psicologist and 1 receptionist) and 1 nurse from CHAP took part of the study, oficial documents from the Health Ministry were analyzed, verbal information from its representatives were also taken into consideration, as well as reports from the many benefitiaries of the CHA, CHAP and FHP. For data collecting, we used the combination of (a) Direct Observation and Participant Observation of the functioning micro-areas of the CHA at the Family Health Units, and the Union of the Agents; (b) Free-Association of words and expressions to stimulate the CHA , Health Education and Health ; (c) Questionnaire; (d) Interviews. The interviews were submitted to a thematic analysis of its topic. The free-association was analyzed taking in consideration the vrgesiana proposal (a combination of the frequency and average order of evocation) which treatment enabled the identification of the central and peripheral systems of social representation towards health education and the community health agent. A test of central refutation, associated to the analysis of the indicated evocations as the most important, provided empirical evidence of social representation towards health education as orientation , prevention and hygiene , as well as the identity of CHA as supervisor , friend , help , important , and the link between the community and the Family Health Staff. Other professionals from CHAP, FHP and the Health Ministry share all of these representational contents, especially the concepts of friend and link , also shared by the community. A habitus towards the community health agents was identified, as a representation based on trust and friendship, which gives the professional a great importance towards the daily inconsistencies faced by the community

This research continues the current debate about the role of the images and the words in the architectural design persuasion, where we emphasize the increasing valuation of written documents (FORTY, 2004; MARKUS; CAMERON, 2002), the seduction for the graphical representation (DURAND, 2003) and the rhetorical effects of the graphical and textual resources (TOSTRUP, 1999). Based on these quarrels, we look for verify in the graduate final projects the relation between the design texts and images. From the PROJEDATA, database of the PROJETAR research group (UFRN), we selected the final projects of two brazilians universities, UFRN and USP, that in a first analysis, they had shown as ideal types of two distinct design presentation models, respectively: texts and drawings in separated documents, or combined in an only support. Based on Markus explanation about the function and the content of the texts, on the Durand perspective with regard to graphical representation uses and on Tostrup point of view concerning the rhetorical potential of texts and drawings, we analyze, in a set of 25 projects, how the students relate the textual and imagetical speeches. For this, we related the focus of each speech, in order to verify the possible coherence between both. We conclude that in the model of USP final project the coherence between the texts and the drawings is clearer than in the model adopted in UFRN

Although several studies, have shown differences in cognitive performance between men and women, it not yet known whether these differences occur in tasks involving free association of words (WA). Studies across the sleep-wake cycle (SWC) suggest that rapid eye movement sleep (REM) favors semantic flexibility, in comparison with pre-sleep waking (Pre-WK), slow-wave sleep (SWS) and post-sleep waking (Post-WK). The present work has two aims: (1) to evaluate the semantic distances of word pairs produced by AP, comparing men and women, (2) to evaluate semantic distance in word pairs produced by free association across the SWC in young adults of both sexes. To achieve aim (1), we applied a task of WA in 68 adult volunteers during waking (52 women and 16 men). The WA task consisted of writing the first word that came to mind after viewing another word offered as a stimulus (root Word). To achieve aim (2), we performed polysomnography to identify specific stages of the SWC. The experimental subjects were then awakened (if they were asleep) and were immediately given a WA task. The task was administered to 2 groups of 10 subjects each (G1 and G2). G1 subjects were stimulated with the same set of root words after waking from various states of SWC, while G2 subjects received sets of different root words at each state of the SWC. In the absence of a Portuguese corpus suitable for the measurement of semantic distances, the words collected in our experiments were translated to English, and semantically quantified within a systematic and representative corpus of that language (Wordnet). This procedure removed the polysemies typical of Portuguese, but preserved the semantic macrostructure common to both languages. During waking, we found that semantic distances are significantly lower in WA produced by women, in comparison with the distances observed in men. Through the SWC, there were no statistically significant differences in G1. In G2 women, we detected a significant increase of semantic distances upon being awakened from SWS. In contrast, G2 men showed a significant increase in semantic distances upon being awakened from REM. The results of the first experiment are consistent with the notion that women have a more concrete reasoning than men. The results of the second experiment indicate that men awakened from REM present more flexibility in word association than when being awakened from other states. In contrast, women showed more flexible word association after being awakened from SWS, in compared with other states. The results indicate that the cognitive flexibility attributed to different states of the SWC shows gender dependency

Objectives: The purpose of the current study was to diagnose military police officers in Natal, Brazil as to the level and phase of stress in which they find themselves and the prevalent symptomatology (physical or mental). Methodology: Descriptive, crosscut study that investigated a sample of 264 individuals taken from a population of 3,193 military police officers of the Capital Police Command (CPC) in Natal, Brazil. The data were collected using the Lipp Stress Symptoms for Adults Inventory LSSI, and analyzed by tabulations, percentage calculations, t-test for proportions and Pearson s chi-squared test for associations between stress, symptomatology and military rank. Data collection was between June/2004 and January/2005. Results: It was found that 52.6% of the officers had symptoms of stress and 47.4% symptomatology of stress. This was distributed across all ranks, especially mid and upper-level officers as well as corporals and privates, with predominance in the resistance phase (36%) and a prevalence of psychological symptoms (76%). The only variable investigated that was related to stress was gender (P = 0.0337). Conclusions: It was concluded that there is stress among all ranks of military police officers in Natal, Brazil, especially mid and upper-level officers, corporals and privates, with a prevalence of psychological symptoms, low levels of physical symptoms and predominance in the resistance phase. It seems that stress levels do not differ significantly from those found in Brazilian men and women and do not indicate a situation of chronic fatigue

Diante da inexistncia de estudos que abordem os aspectos psicolgicos e fsicos desses profissionais, tornou-se necessrio e relevante esta investigao para a rea de segurana pblica num contexto multidisciplinar. O estudo objetivou verificar as caractersticas da aptido fsica e psicolgica relacionada sade de policiais militares do Batalho de Atividades Policiais Especiais (BOPE), da Polcia Militar do Rio Grande do Norte. A amostra selecionada de forma aleatria foi composta de 64 militares de diferentes graduaes, do sexo masculino com idade mdia de 26,22,6 anos. Foram utilizados como instrumentos de medida o Questionrio de Sade Geral de Goldberg para avaliar a sade geral; uma balana digital da marca Techline, e estadimetro porttil da marca Sanny para avaliar a massa corporal e a estatura; fita antropomtrica metlica Sanny para avaliar a perimetria (circunferncia do brao contrado, circunferncia da panturrilha); paqumetro Sanny para avaliar os dimetros sseos (bi-epicondilar umeral e bi-epicodilar femural); adipmetro Harpender para avaliar a espessura das dobras cutneas; dinammetro manual Jamar para avaliar a fora de preenso manual; flexmetro Sanny, fotoclulas CEFISE modelo Speed Test Fit e o YoYo Intermitent Recovery Test para avaliar o desempenho fsico ( flexibilidade, agilidade, velocidade e endurance anaerbica). Os participantes apresentaram valores elevados para risco de distrbio ou mesmo a presena de distrbio, no que se refere sade geral; o grupo estudado classificado como mesoendomorfico, predominando caractersticas de endurance aerbico e anaerbico e fora que foram relacionadas com os aspectos psicolgicos. O perfil somatotpico meso-endomorfo parece interferir nos elevados riscos de distrbios psicolgicos advindos da atividade laboral exigida, apesar dos mesmos apresentarem um bom desempenho fsico

The present study seeks to understand tooth loss by investigating the social representations in the daily life of elderly individuals, thus characterizing itself as a comparative and analytic research. It is known that tooth loss is a common occurrence in elderly individuals, interfering at the psychosocial and biological levels, through its functional, esthetical and social implications. The area of oral health in Brazil is lacking studies on this topic, especially with respect to the psychosocial aspects of the elderly. The Theory of Social Representations and the Central Nucleus Theory were selected for theoretical-methodological support. The Free Association of Words Test was used, whose inducing stimulus were the words tooth loss , in which each subject was asked to associate 3 words, to respond to a questionnaire related to socio-economic conditions and containing an investigation of tooth loss, access to odontological services and the need for dental treatment, and to undergo a focus group interview. The study sample consisted of 120 individuals 60 years of age or over, resident in Natal, RN, Brazil and participants of the Live Together to Live Better group of the Basic Health Unit of Felipe Camaro Residential District and Unati (Open University of the Elderly); an interview was performed with 36 subjects. Data analysis was performed by Evoc 2000, SPSS/99, Graph Pad and Alceste softwares. The results demonstrate that the central nucleus of the social representations of tooth loss for the Live Together group emerged from the difficulty in eating categories, showing a relation between physiologic necessity, desire and pleasure from eating, not to mention the pain that resulted from justifying the tooth loss. Besides the central discourses, the following peripheral elements were gathered: difficulty in adapting to the prosthesis, treatment and difficulty in speaking. All of these categories, except the last, also comprised the class themes of the group interview. For the Unati group the central nucleus emerged from the socio-economic difficulties categories, demonstrating a narrow relation between poverty, access to health and education and esthetics, confirming in the discourse of common sense, the association between tooth loss and aging. At the margin of the central discourses was collected the peripheral element difficulty in adapting to the prosthesis, found both in the Live Together and Unati groups, which expresses the resistance of the subject to this new situation and the failure of the rehabilitation treatment in the sense of reviving the memory of their natural teeth. All of these categories also constitute the class themes of the of the group interview. Thus, through the study of the social representations, we can reveal a reality in the perspective of the social subjects, contemplating the multiple facets of the social-cultural reality experienced by these individuals

It historizes and it analyzes the social capital in the area Serid. The traditions associative seridoenses are reconstructed starting from the dimensions: economical, social, religious person and politics. In them it is possible to notice actions that form the social capital of the area. The country of Serid present an associative tradition based on the mutual help, in the trust and reciprocity that she remount there are decades in your history. The relationship among the Catholic Church, that historically it is present in the area, and rural communities, through your community associations, it is the backdrop where you/they are the responsible associative elements for the tear of the regional social fabric: in him (the backdrop) he/she is the responsible social capital for the work of the rural community organizations. The Catholic Church, through your social action and the Program of Combat to the Rural Poverty, of Rio Grande do Norte is the league that sustains the actions collective seridoenses

Romantic love constitutes a central value in the social imaginary of modern societies and with reflexes in today s society. This is because the romantic expectation of realization of love appears, in the majority of cases, as a guarantee of completeness and happiness of individuals. However, the ideal of romantic love imposes a series of demands and character roles that are not easy, in modern age, to be brought about into practice by the ones in love. And, it is in this sense that possible conflicts appear between the romantic proposition and the practical reality of contemporary love. Consequently, the possibility of suffering from love emerges because of these propositions. Initiating from these presumptions, this paper aims to study the contemporary forms of representation and expression of love and of the suffering because of love, through the course of love in the life of some men and women, residents of Natal/RN, that live and/or have lived emotional-sexual relationships, observing the relationship that can be established between suffering from love and the ideal romantic love

The Theory analyzes what should know and what competes, formally, to the Professional of Social Service to act in the School Education. He/she investigates, starting from studies on the theme, and close to Council Federal and Regional of Social Service, and of the Brazilian Association of Studies and Researches in Social Service, that you know and competences are necessary for the social worker performance in that specific area. Through a research of nature empiric, bibliographical and documental, the analysis focus outlines the glance and the understanding of the professionals' category that represent the defense organs, fiscalization and formation of the profession. The importance of the scientific study is justified for the social worker necessary contribution acting in the School Education, whose political and pedagogic context presents multiple demands, you know and relationships, and when it is lived a social and education picture at the present time with order words in formation, as inclusion, empowerment, competence, that they demand other specialists in the school scenery to work with the varied expressions of the social subject. Since the years 1930 the social worker acts in the area of the Education, with an originating from knowledge the human and social areas that you/he/she makes possible him/it to contribute, undisciplinement, close to the pedagogic team of the School Education. The clarity of the you know and of the necessary competences to intervene in that field of specific work makes possible the legitimation of the identity, of the social worker professionalization and the formalization of his/her practice. The Theory ends that the profissionality and the social worker professionalism is built and it is recognized in the area of the Education starting from the knowledge of the you know and pertinent competences to intervene in that context, beginning that knowledge on the part of the category of the Social Service and of the formation organs and representation of the profession so that the school community - administration and pedagogic coordination, teachers and students - he understands and recognize the social worker necessary intervention in that field. The formalization of those you know and competences are built starting from actions and thought mobilizations and operation in the group of the category, and not for isolated actions and individualized. It is revealed, in the opinion of the ones that represent Regional Council of Social Service, a wide vision of the social worker in that space exercising, among other, functions that don't compete to the professional's profile or restricted to actions and techniques historically exercised in their work fields. A new profile of the professional of the Social Service that it acts in the School Education is possible when his/her action is visualized centered not just in the work with the family, but, doing of the school a proposition space and execution of programs, projects, studies and social researches. He intends, an action politics and of popularization on them know and the social worker competences in the School Education

In the last decades, studies on early intervention involving children with autism have suggested that there is no single intervention model capable of addressing the needs of all individuals in the spectrum. The role of parents as active intervention agents is, however, highly recommended. The More Than Words-HANEN Program has been specifically created for parents of children, under five years of age, who are in the autism spectrum. This intervention aims at improving the social competence and language comprehension of the child, as well as their parents empowerment. Until now only three studies have been performed in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the HMTW program. The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the effects of an early intervention program inspired on HMTW model on the level of caregiver responsiveness and child communication skills. The present study adds to the existing research literature on family-centered early intervention that uses a developmental paradigm. A two year boy in risk for autism, his mother and nanny took part in this investigation, which was carried out in the childs home in Mossor, Rio Grande do Norte. The caretakers were given one fifty-two hours of training, divided into thirteen weekly meetings. A quasi-experimental A-B-C design (baselineintervention- follow-up) showed improvement in the caretakers level of responsiveness and meaningful social-communicative gains in the childs response

A ausncia de cuidados do homem com a sade representa um fenmeno significativo, pois contribui para o aumento da morbidade e mortalidade masculina por causas evitveis. Essa realidade torna-se mais relevante quando se trata do policial militar, devido s peculiaridades do seu processo de trabalho. Visto isso, considera-se que os cuidados de sade adotados por policiais militares atrelam-se ao entendimento de que possuem sobre os agravos sade, o qual perpassa por concepes de gnero e da profisso. Isso levou ao seguinte questionamento: Como o policial militar concebe os cuidados com a sade. Objetivou-se analisar concepes de policiais militares sobre cuidados com a sade. Trata-se de um estudo exploratrio e descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, desenvolvido junto a um Batalho Militar do Comando de Policiamento de Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brasil. A coleta de dados foi realizada no perodo de junho a julho de 2013. Essa etapa foi antecedida pela anuncia do Comandante Geral da Polcia Militar do Rio Grande do Norte, sob a aprovao do Comit de tica em Pesquisa da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, com o CAAE n 15449713.7.0000.5537, e autorizao formal dos entrevistados mediante a assinatura do Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido (TCLE), atendendo s exigncias da Resoluo 466/2012, do Conselho Nacional de Sade, no que se refere pesquisa com seres humanos. Participaram do estudo 21 policiais militares, do sexo masculino, que trabalhavam no policiamento ostensivo, no estavam de licena mdica e apresentaram condies psicolgicas e/ou fsicas favorveis para responder aos questionamentos. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista semiestruturada mediante um roteiro constitudo de duas partes: a primeira com questes sociodemogrficas com vistas caracterizao dos participantes da pesquisa e a segunda com duas questes norteadoras relativas ao objeto de estudo. Os depoimentos foram tratados conforme o mtodo de anlise de contedo na modalidade de anlise temtica segundo Bardin. Desse processo, emergiram trs categorias: hbitos de vida de policiais militares, repercusso do trabalho na sade de policiais militares e atitudes de policiais militares em frente dos problemas de sade. A anlise dos dados foi subsidiada pelo referencial terico do Modelo de Crenas em Sade (Health Belief Model), de acordo com as variveis vulnerabilidade e barreiras . Para respaldar a discusso dos resultados, buscou-se na literatura conhecimentos acerca da sade do homem e do policial militar. Os resultados apontaram que os entrevistados procuram cuidar da sade com prticas de exerccios fsicos, alimentos saudveis e preservao do sono. No entanto, vivenciam dores de coluna, ganho de peso, dificuldades para dormir, estresse e sofrimento psicolgico. Diante disso, eles buscam apoio quando acometidos por agravos sade e reconhecem a necessidade de medidas de segurana durante o servio. Portanto, notam a sua condio de vulnerabilidade em decorrncia de seu ofcio, porm enfrentam dificuldades na adoo de prticas preventivas de agravos a sade. Mediante os resultados, faz-se necessrio que o enfermeiro atuante junto a este pblico elabore, implemente e acompanhe estratgias de ateno a sua sade

Este estudio pretende dilucidar las motivaciones que llevan a los lectores del romance Grande Serto: Veredas a la categorizacin de ciertas construcciones gramaticales que se encuentran en la obra como proverbiales. Para ello, recurren a la investigacin de los procesos cognitivos implicados en la configuracin del patrn discursivo proverbio, teniendo como soporte terico a la Lingstica Cognitiva. En este empeo, nos ancoramos en las nociones de construcciones corporeizadas, simulacin mental, frecuencia, patrn discursivo y en la expresin idiomtica. Suponemos que los proverbios constituyen un patrn discursivo cristalizado a partir de la recurrencia de uso y, en virtud de eso, indagamos: Qu mecanismos cognitivos son activados por los lectores en el proceso de categorizacin de las expresiones dichas proverbiales? Motivados por la situacin problema presentada, formulamos algunos experimentos con la intencin de aclarar las cuestiones investigadas y concluimos que los lectores recurren a constituciones construccionales subyacentes a los proverbios conocidos a travs de las interacciones realizadas en su entorno sociocultural, para dar cuenta de la semntica de construcciones inditas. En ese proceso, los esquemas y frames se activan a travs de simulaciones mentales instanciadas por experiencias corporales y culturales, decisivas para la concretizacin de los procesos de las construcciones proverbiales

The present study aims at investigating the style of the Cearense 1poet Patativa do Assar in his poetic discourse Cante l que eu canto c (2004). Such choice is due to the fact that Assar‟s poetry is full of regional identities as well of different voices. In other words, our purpose is to analyze the way the author aesthetically expresses his own voice and the voice of others in his work. This study is based on a social and historical model of language, with language construed as a discourse practice with emphasis on the key concepts of style, voices, subject and dialogic relationships (BAKHTIN, 1992, 2003, 1995). Our documental research is situated within the area of Applied Linguistics and presents an interface with Literature. We start out with the premise that in this type of investigation knowledge is built from language. In this sense, we must consider the social relationships in which language is produced, as well as the world which (in) determines, interferes, represents, interpenetrates or else, reformulates language and the indisciplinary character of the research

This Masters thesis investigates and analyzes the homoerotic expressions in Fernando Pessoa s poetry and in his heteronyms : lvaro de Campos, Alberto Caeiro and Ricardo Reis. Through the elaboration of deceptive strategies as a way to escape from the insults and the constraints, the poet by means of creative runaway lines builds up a homoerotic poetry that differ from the established patterns and representational models of the literature. We can find, bearing in mind a problematic sexuality which overflows in the various I s, of the sinuous identities and the movable boundaries, and intense mask games. They become real in poems, especially by means of sensations, yielding the possibility of a queer discourse and generating a homoerotic poetry. Pessoa s homoerotism is, thus, presented amid friendly relationships, smooth spaces, of heterotrophy of the city, or others space and the closet s aesthetics. Based on this, it is noted the articulations of a performance gender as body scripture and inscription, thus establishing a physical-writing which reveals a transgressive sexuality, with multiple entrances and exits, affirmations and denials that originate paradoxes. In this matter, we develop links between Foucault conceptions (2010a, 2010b, 2011) towards the history of sexuality, friendship and the power-knowledge relations with traces of significance and subjectivity, in processes of faciality and BwO (Body-without-Organs) in Deleuze and Guattari (1996). We still consider the ontological questionings towards the Gay dimension in Eribon (2008) and we raise aspects concerning the construction of the idea of masculinity in Bourdieu (2010). Finally, we base ourselves on Sedgwick s 1993 closet epistemological approach, as well as on Butler s 2012 gender and performance theory, also going through a few Bataille 1987 passages about erotism, that redimension the homoaffective images of the Portuguese poet

This work treats about the speeches that produced the crisis of symbols of Cear, researching on matters and ways of expression of space between 1950s and 1970s. Therefore, we search discursive practices that since the end of nineteenth century built the identity of Cear and in the middle of twentieth century produced the crisis of modes of seeing and telling the space in front of enunciations of the national modernization, especially with the emergence of politics by SUDENE to the Northeast, the progressive actions by Catholic Church, the defense of tradition by regional literature of union of Cear Cl. The contradictions between the glorification and fear the modernization of Brazil produced on the space speeches that his identity would be fractured, that the old symbols of drought, cangao, mysticism and colonels declined. Among analyzed speeches, we centered the analysis of Trilogia da Maldio formed of novels O Drago, of 1964, Os Verdes Abutres da Colina and Joo Pinto de Maria: a biografia de um louco by Jos Alcides Pinto. In this novel, the enunciation of the crisis of symbologies about the space produced another aesthetic, the allegory, which, mixed with the mystical and melancholy, in search of ways to restore the language of the old themes Cear, drop of Cear the same stigma of anti-modern space, where the images of delay changed icons of a fractured identity in front of the modern streams, where the word was transformed in the dimension precarious and redeemer of the tradition, of old, of nature, of the plenitude of senses. In Jose Alcides, the colonel returns as the origin of the lost space, the drought is the revolt of God against the devil place, the apocalypse, the end imminent threat to the village, signs that fantastic, however, are in dialogue with the settings space and time in which they were produced
