This dissertation argues that the book as we know it will not cease to be. It is somehow a manifesto praising the artifact of words in the scope of literature and scientific culture. The present work chooses Umberto Eco and Jean-Claude-Càrriere‟s book Não contem com o fim do livro (2010) as cognitive operator. It presents a brief overview of the evolution of the informational supports and narrates a history of the book as constructed by complex bases; it also highlights the permanent and current state of the book having in mind the concept of contemporary as proposed by the Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben, as opposed by the ephemeral character of the technological informational supports; moreover, it elects the book as a tool for the learning of Science and Culture, as a school for life, as put by Edgar Morin when referring to the Romance genre, in some of his works regarding Education; it presents as supporting evidence, two interviews with book-lover scholars from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Science thinkers like Edgar Morin, Maria da Conceição de Almeida, Ilya Prigogine, Giorgio Agamben, Pierre Levy, Umberto Eco, Roger Chartier, among others are used as sources of theoretical references. The dissertation places itself in the interface between Literature, Complexity and Education.

Currently, the diagnostic ultrasound is inserted in various areas of medical action and carried out by many medical professionals, from which militate directly in the image area, such as radiologists and sonographers, but also by gynecologists, pediatricians, neurologists, general practitioners, endocrinologists, angiologists, orthopedists, rheumatologists, urologists, general and vascular surgeons. It is well known that the medical professional, for the exercise of its mission, requires a broad set of skills, competencies and attitudes developed and exercised during their training period. Living with medical students over nearly 20 years in hospital environment, I noticed gaps in the learning process by the students about what is diagnostic ultrasound and its applications, demonstrating failures as understanding the basic acoustic ultrasound, difficulties in identifying of anatomical structures in ultrasound images and inability in requests examinations and interpretations of images and reports. Based on these findings, it was developed in this Professional Masters a multimedia digital book that exposes what the ultrasound as a diagnostic modality imaging, dealing with its historiography and its physical/acoustic concepts, relating the process of formation of the ultrasound image, discussing about the features of sonographic equipments and their embedded technologies and highlighting its diagnostic applications , the latter presented through videos which will be described aspects of captured ultrasound images. This book will be available for access in digital format, serving as a teaching tool in medical education since the beginning of the course, so that can be used in conjunction with the discipline of Gross Anatomy, offered in the basic cycle of the Medicine Undergraduate Course of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).

This thesis aims to investigate the space of radio reporting and production conditions in radio newscasts in commercial stations operating in modulated frequency (FM) in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Through preliminary empirical observation, it was observed that this journalistic style (radio reportage) is hardly present in the schedule of local commercial radio stations, with a lack of in-depth news coverage. The research is based on the content broadcast in four daily radio news programs transmitted by commercial stations. It raises the hypothesis that the crisis that cuts across journalistic companies could be justified by the lack of financial funding in in-depth news reporting. The starting point for the case study (Yin, 2005) was a bibliographical research, for building a theoretical model of reference for the studied style, based on Prado (1989), Bespalhok (2006), Meditsch (2007), Lopes (2013) and Ferraretto (2014). The methodology also included listening to content broadcast during a week in the four analyzed news programs, participant observation and interviews with professionals who produce these programs. There were eight events with similar characteristics to radio reporting, all broadcast in just one of the analyzed programs. According to the interviewees, the format is rarely used because it would generate high businesses costs, which are prohibitively high for the stations. The research also inferred that besides the lack of entrepreneurial vision, there is accommodation of the professionals who could produce news stories even with little structure available. Finally, this work points out the need to invest more on local radio journalism to improve the quality of the information provided on commercial broadcasters in Natal and the training of journalism students to use radio's potential to maximum use.

Considering Fernando Pessoa’s The Book of Disquiet as edited in English –, written under the would-be heteronym Bernardo Soares, the author of the present thesis has tried to question, and eventually show, the forms through which fragmentary writing can reveal the power of language. The approach to literary corpus of this research was made having in mind the symbolic structure of the representation of language, used by Soares’ character as a continuous life reinvention resource - a character that shows himself as a proclaimer of reflections and aphorisms spread under numerous themes and pieces of text. The The Book of Disquiet has recorded a somewhat unquiet recent history since its first edition in 1982, with a considerable number of editions and editing criteria, having in common Dominique Maingueneau’s (2006) textual analysis as central theoretical subsidy. In the present work, however, the author has sought to endeavor beyond the theory and borders of Maingeneau’s approach, and to bring by the contribution of authors that had already explored confluent issues, e.g. Françoise Susini-Anastapoulos, Gilles Deleuze, Jerónimo Pizarro, Maurice Blanchot, Roland Barthes, and other. Considering that The Book of Disquiet is a fragmentary work by nature, the author believes that multiple contributions are likely to favor multiple approaches and to reveal consistent angles or paths to approaching Soares’ core work.
