For the last two decades, studio photographers have been trying to create photos that replicate those produced for stars and for those destined for the cover of magazines. This article explores this phenomenon from the perspective of its suburban site for the production of the sensation of fame through glamour photography.

Since the publication of Leila J. Rupp’s Worlds of Women: The Making of an International Women’s Movement in 1997, historians have begun to investigate the myriad ways in which women, largely excluded from formal, government-based international relations, nonetheless forged significant personal and institutional relationships across national and cultural boundaries. As a result, women’s international activism has become an increasingly popular field of scholarly enquiry.

Twisted Things: Playing with Time is a film script and exegesis. The script, a murder mystery, slips between contemporary Melbourne and Melbourne in 1959 during the making of, ‘On the Beach’. The exegesis explores history by considering Melbourne in 1959, glamour and image, and the cinema of time.
