The “external structure” in an object oriented system refers here to the  graphs of objects and classes. The class structure graph or class model is derived from the object structure graph or object model, and in this operation structural information is lost, or never made explicit. Although object oriented programming languages capture the class model as declarations,  contradictory assumptions about object model properties may be made introducing faults into the design. Consistent assumptions about the object model can be specified in the code using assertions such as Eiffel’s  invariants, preconditions and postconditions. Three examples specifying the external structure are considered.

The sheet forming industry is plagued by inherent variations in its many input variables, making quality control and improvements a major hurdle. This is particularly poignant for Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS), which exhibit a large degree of property variability. Current FE-based simulation packages are successful at predicting the manufacturability of a particular sheet metal components, however, due to their numerical deterministic nature are inherently unable to predict the performance of a real-life production process. Though they are now beginning to incorporate the stochastic nature of production in their codes. This work investigates the accuracy and precision of a current stochastic simulation package, AutoForm Sigma v4.1, by developing an experimental data set where all main sources of variation are captured through precise measurements and standard tensile tests. Using a Dual Phase 600Mpa grade steel a series of semi-cylindrical channels are formed at two Blank Holder Pressure levels where the response metric is the variation in springback determined by the flange angle. The process is replicated in AutoForm Sigma and an assessment of accuracy and precision of the predictions are performed. Results indicate a very good correspondence to the experimental trials, with mean springback response predicted to within 1 ° of the flange angle and the interquartile spread of results to within 0.22°.

 Motion Bank Phase One (2010-2013) was a four-year international and interdisciplinary research project of The Forsythe Company providing a broad context for research into choreographic practice. The main focus was on the creation of on-line digital scores in collaboration with guest choreographers, to be made publicly available via this website. For Phase One, the guest choreographers were Deborah Hay, Jonathan Burrows & Matteo Fargion, Bebe Miller and Thomas Hauert. Teams from the Motion Bank Score Partners worked with these artists to make their diverse choreographic approaches accessible in new ways through the digital medium with the results published here: http://scores.motionbank.org/. Alongside this core research, Motion Bank Education Partners and an International Education Workgroup researched ways to integrate the new on-line digital scores and related choreographic resources produced by other artists into their academic programs. Accompanying the Motion Bank education research was an interdisciplinary initiative titled Dance Engaging Science aiming to stimulate new forms of collaborative research involving dance practice. Motion Bank public events offered at The Frankfurt Lab included performances and talks with the guest choreographers as well as a series of Motion Bank Workshops with internationally recognized practitioners from different fields. Choirs are an important part of the social and cultural tapestry of any community. Participating, learning music and performing are key factors to joining music organisations such as choirs. Singing in a choir as a music activity within communities is found to be participatory and voluntary, providing an opportunity for civil expression, identity and connectedness. The focus of this paper involves three choirs from my wider research project ‘Spirituality and Wellbeing: Music in the community’ that started in 2013, in Melbourne (Australia). In May 2014, I visited three choirs for a week in the city of Warnnambool, a regional district in Victoria (Australia). I draw on Yin’s (2003) categorisation of case study methodology that is explanatory, exploratory and descriptive. I draw on observation notes and focus group semi-structured interviews to analyse and code the data using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. The findings include why people join choirs in regional towns, what they enjoyed that contributed to their wellbeing and why they want to sing about issues that make connections to social justice, the environment and the community. Though generalisations cannot be made to other towns or choirs, it is hoped that the findings may provide a vehicle for further dialogue where
