Event related potential (ERP) analysis is one of the most widely used methods in cognitive neuroscience research to study the physiological correlates of sensory, perceptual and cognitive activity associated with processing information. To this end information flow or dynamic effective connectivity analysis is a vital technique to understand the higher cognitive processing under different events. In this paper we present a Granger causality (GC)-based connectivity estimation applied to ERP data analysis. In contrast to the generally used strictly causal multivariate autoregressive model, we use an extended multivariate autoregressive model (eMVAR) which also accounts for any instantaneous interaction among variables under consideration. The experimental data used in the paper is based on a single subject data set for erroneous button press response from a two-back with feedback continuous performance task (CPT). In order to demonstrate the feasibility of application of eMVAR models in source space connectivity studies, we use cortical source time series data estimated using blind source separation or independent component analysis (ICA) for this data set.

Regression is at the cornerstone of statistical analysis. Multilevel regression, on the other hand, receives little research attention, though it is prevalent in economics, biostatistics and healthcare to name a few. We present a Bayesian nonparametric framework for multilevel regression where individuals including observations and outcomes are organized into groups. Furthermore, our approach exploits additional group-specific context observations, we use Dirichlet Process with product-space base measure in a nested structure to model group-level context distribution and the regression distribution to accommodate the multilevel structure of the data. The proposed model simultaneously partitions groups into cluster and perform regression. We provide collapsed Gibbs sampler for posterior inference. We perform extensive experiments on econometric panel data and healthcare longitudinal data to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model

Big data is an emerging hot research topic due to its pervasive application in human society, such as government, climate, finance, and science. Currently, most research work on big data falls in data mining, machine learning, and data analysis. However, these amazing top-level killer applications would not be possible without the underneath support of networking due to their extremely large volume and computing complexity, especially when real-time or near-real-time applications are demanded.
