The demand for high strength materials and improvements in heat treatment techniques has given rise to this new form of high strength steel known as nanobainite steel. The production of nanobainite steel involves slow isothermal holding of austenitic steel around 200oC for 10 days, in order to obtain a carbon enriched austenite and cooling to room temperature using austempering. The microstructure of nanobainite steel is dual phase consisting of alternate layers of bainitic ferrite and austenite. The experimental design consists of face milling under 12 combination of Depth of Cut (DoC)-1, 2 and 3mm; cutting speed-100 and 150m/min; constant feed- 0.15mm/rev and coolant on/off. The machinability of the material is assessed by means of analysis such as metallography and cutting force analysis. The results obtained are used to assess the most favorable condition to machine this new variety of steel. Future work involves study on phase transformation by quantifying the microstructural phase before and after milling using XRD.

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for global minimization of functions represented as a difference of two convex functions. The proposed method is a derivative free method and it is designed by adapting the extended cutting angle method. We present preliminary results of numerical experiments using test problems with difference of convex objective functions and box-constraints. We also compare the proposed algorithm with a classical one that uses prismatical subdivisions. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

As-cast AZ80 magnesium alloy consists of α-Mg, eutectic product of α-Mg and γ-Mg17Al12, with the latter present in the form of partially and fully divorce eutectic. There occurs dissolution of harder γ-Mg17Al12 phase during homogenization treatment at 400 ° and 439 °C. The proportion of the α-Mg and γ-Mg17Al12 phase was varied by solutionizing the alloy for various lengths of time at these temperatures, in order to investigate the kinetics of phase transformation and to evaluate the effect of phase proportion, size and morphology on room temperature tensile properties. It was found that the yield strength decreases with the increase in solutionizing temperature from 400° to 439 °C and at the same time, ductility in general increases with the increasing solutionizing temperature. The variation in tensile properties and the nature of fractographs were analyzed in terms of the effects of microstructure. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

It is an enormously difficult—and perhaps impossible, but ultimately important—task to comprehensively define the contemporary moment through a particular concept. This introduction and this journal make the claim that both in a pervasive way and to a pandemic extent, there is enormous activity and energy in the production, construction, and exhibition of personas. Something quite extraordinary has shifted over the last twenty years that has led to this intensive focus on constructing strategic masks of identity. The catalyst is the development of online culture and its invocation to personalize the expression of a public self—essentially a persona—regularly and incessantly. This culture of producing and monitoring our public selves is the focus of this journal as online culture blends with everyday culture and leads to an insistent proliferation of personas for both presentation and for strategic purposes in order to manage very new notions of value and reputation. The task of investigating persona is complex, and is dependent on connections and intersections across an array of disciplines. This journal and the field of Persona Studies is designed to serve as a site for this essential work of comprehending, analysing, and critiquing persona, and to allow disciplines to intersect, exchange ideas, and debate the play of persona historically and in contemporary culture.

A constitutive model was proposed in this thesis and a promising approach for accurate prediction of forming behaviour of high strength titanium alloy sheet metal forming at room temperature is presented. Outcomes showed a potential solution of cold roll forming of this material for aerospace and automotive structural applications.

While the issue of boys’ dominance of the curriculum has a long history, the article examines this phenomenon in a contemporary context, through an empirical study with female teachers designing English curriculum around girls’ media in a coeducational secondary school in Victoria, Australia. In this space, teachers, and the researcher, produce and perform both individual gendered identities and plans for the identities of future student subjects, while negotiating subject positions made available to girls and women in broader social contexts. In this instance, negotiations that take place during the development of a unit of work on Mattel's Barbie website form the basis of feminist discourse analysis, enabling us to ‘take stock’ in thinking about what curriculum design is, about where the past is situated in relation to the present, and to question why, within a discursive feminist/postfeminist entanglement, the heritage of feminist intellectual thought in this area seems absent.

This article provides a critical examination of the allocation of scarce public health care funds in relation to extremely premature and sick neonates. Decisions to withdraw or withhold life-sustaining treatment from neonates born extremely premature are generally informed by arbitrary and often subjective considerations of those involved in their care – namely parents and medical practitioners. This article argues for a sharp and immediate focus in decisions to treat such neonates based on the allocation of limited health care resources. Accordingly, decisions to save and preserve the lives of imperilled neonates should not be limited to the immediate financial costs of medical treatment. More explicitly there should be a full appreciation of the cost of disability to the family, requirements for long-term care, and the benefits and associated costs of life, not only to the patient, but also to society.
