The heightened pace of corporate governance reforms has focussed attention on countryspecific governance models. In relation to India, scholars have observed that a hybrid of the outsider Anglo-Saxon system and the insider Continental system is likely. This paper reports
the results of a study that investigated the corporate governance system of five large firms in 2008. It presents evidence based on publicly available documents and twelve key executive interviews. The paper initially presents a literature review and establishes six propositions
based on the distinguishing features of the two major systems, and then presents the methodology, findings and discussion. The governance characteristics of the Indian firms are classified in terms of the two systems with a view to assessing the extent and nature of hybridization. The findings endorse the hybrid corporate governance system in India.
However, the scope of this study was limited to large listed companies and business groups. Future research should use a larger and more diverse sample including private and unaffiliated firms for outcomes that can be generalized.

Most real systems have nonlinear behavior and thus model linearization may not produce an accurate representation of them. This paper presents a method based on hybrid functions to identify the parameters of nonlinear real systems. A hybrid function is a combination of two groups of orthogonal functions: piecewise orthogonal functions (e.g. Block-Pulse) and continuous orthogonal functions (e.g. Legendre polynomials). These functions are completed with an operational matrix of integration and a product matrix. Therefore, it is possible to convert nonlinear differential and integration equations into algebraic equations. After mathematical manipulation, the unknown linear and nonlinear parameters are identified. As an example, a mechanical system with single degree of freedom is simulated using the proposed method and the results are compared against those of an existing approach.

The heightened pace of corporate governance reforms has focused attention on country-specific
governance models. Considerable debate has ensured as to whether the outsider Anglo-Saxon system
or the insider Continental system is most applicable to India. This paper reports the results of a study
of Indian governance which used a primary qualitative approach of twelve interviews of key executives
of five large firms in 2008 as well as publicly available documents. A literature review establishes six
key characteristics that distinguish the two major systems. The governance characteristics of the
Indian firms are classified in terms of the two systems with a view to assessing the extent and nature of
hybridization. The findings endorse the hybrid corporate governance system of India, clearly
identifying similarities and differences to the two major governance models. In drawing on rich
interview data, the paper delves into the national characteristics of India that have influenced the
hybrid model such as stewardship, corporate social responsibility and partnerships between the
corporate and community sectors. The evolution of the governance practices and the rationale for their
existence are also examined. The paper demonstrates that the hybrid governance system has emanated
from country-specific culture including values and ideologies, and political orientation of socialism.
The scope of this study was limited to large listed companies and business groups. Future research
should use a larger and more diverse sample including private and unaffiliated firms for outcomes that
can be generalized.

The use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology can be employed for tracking and detecting each container, pallet, case, and product uniquely in the supply chain. It connects the supply chain stakeholders (i.e.; suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers/distributors, retailers and customers) and allows them to exchange data and product information. Despite these potential benefits, security issues are the key factor in the deployment of a RFID-enabled system in the global supply chain. This paper proposes a hybrid approach to secure RFID transmission in Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems using modified Wired Equivalent Encryption (WEP) and Rivest, Shamir and Adleman (RSA) cryptosystem. The proposed system also addresses the common loop hole of WEP key algorithm and makes it more secure compare to the existing modified WEP key process.

A novel polythienylenevinylene (PTV) and two new polythiophenes (PTs), featuring fused tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) units, have been prepared and characterized by ultraviolet−visible (UV−vis) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroelectrochemistry. All polymers undergo two sequential, reversible oxidation processes in solution. Structures in which the TTF species is directly linked to the polymer backbone (2 and 4) display redox behavior which is dictated by the fulvalene system. Once the TTF is spatially removed from the polymer chain by a nonconjugated link (polymer 3), the electroactivity of both TTF and polythiophene moieties can be detected. Computational studies confirm the delocalization of charge over both electroactive centers (TTF and PT) and the existence of a triplet dication intermediate. PTV 4 has a low band gap (1.44 eV), is soluble in common organic solvents, and is stable under ambient conditions. Organic solar cells of polymer 4:[6,6]-phenyl-C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) have been fabricated. Under illumination, a photovoltaic effect is observed with a power conversion efficiency of 0.13% under AM1.5 solar simulated light. The onset of photocurrent at 850 nm is consistent with the onset of the π−π absorption band of the polymer. Remarkably, UV−vis spectroelectrochemistry of polymer 4 reveals that the conjugated polymer chain remains unchanged during the oxidation of the polymer.

This paper presents a hybrid method for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of a Photovoltaic (PV) system which experiences non-uniform environmental conditions or partial shading conditions. The hybrid method combines two simple techniques with complementary strengths in achieving Global MPPT. Simulated Annealing (SA) has only recently been applied to PV MPPT and is very effective at locating global maxima with limited implementation complexity. Perturb and Observe (P&O) is a very common technique which provides continuous tracking of the MPP in a simple and easy to implement manner. The P&O method is generally incapable of locating global maxima, and the SA based method is unable to perform continuous searching. By merging these techniques in a hybrid MPPT method consisting of a global searching stage and a local searching stage, the tracking performance is improved compared to what each technique could achieve independently. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid technique.
