Retórica testimonial entre verosimilitud y ficción en La Vorágine

For the author, the concept of testimonial rhetoric means the discursive strategy with which the narrator attempts to make understood that narration is not a product of fiction, but the product of a social reality which he witnessed and lived. The First World War brought with it an increase in the demand for rubber which entailed an attitude on thepart of the consumer countries as well as of the producers, of silencing and refusing to recognize the infrahuman conditions to which thousands of people who worked on the rubber plantations were submitted. This is the social reality, the context in which José Eustasio Rivera wrote La Vorágine.

Entre el relato y la realidad : A sangre y fuego: la historia contada a través del relato

En el presente trabajo se analizará la obra del periodista y escritor Manuel Chaves Nogales A sangre y fuego (1937). El objetivo que se tendrá en cuenta es descubrir dónde está la frontera entre la literatura y el periodismo en esta obra, reflexionando igualmente sobre la teoría de ficción y no ficción, la realidad y la novela. A través de una visión semiótica, mediante un análisis basado en términos de comunicación, y centrándose el estudio en un concepto relacionado con la “literariedad”, se ha llegado a la conclusión de que se hace imposible en determinados géneros establecer fronteras entre literatura y periodismo. Del mismo modo, se ha hecho evidente la contribución y utilidad de lo literario a la hora de afrontar fenómenos relativos a la realidad y concretamente a la actualidad.
