The proliferative usage of multimedia tools in the classroom reflects an increasingly technocratic education system. Technology provides educators with new opportunities to reach students in innovative ways. We describe the use of iPads and several proprietary applications in a General Psychology course as one opportunity to improve student learning outcomes. Quantitative and qualitative evidence will be provided of the pre- and post-tests, which both show positive significant outcomes.

Ursula C. Schwerin (right) is pictured in graduation regalia at a commencement ceremony for the New York City Technical College. The date of the ceremony is unknown. Ursula C. Schwerin, a former City Tech student, was president of the College from 1978-1988. She was the first woman to be president of a community college in the CUNY system along with the first woman to be president of a technical college in the U.S. Under Schwerin's tenure, the College made the transition from a two-year to a four-year senior college. and the school was thus renamed New York City Technical College.

Alison Macrina is the founder and director of the Library Freedom Project, an initiative that aims to make real the promise of intellectual freedom in libraries. The Library Freedom Project trains librarians on the state of global surveillance, privacy rights, and privacy-protecting technology, so that librarians may in turn teach their communities about safeguarding privacy.
