Introductory Physical Chemistry Lecture 1

These lectures are designed to show new students different lecturing styles they will encounter at Southampton University. This lecture is in the style of 'Chalk and Talk'. The lectures also teach students some of the fundamental parts of physics which are relevant to the Physical Chemistry course. This will be particularly useful for students who have forgotten their GCSE physics! To view the videos, download the zip file and 'extract' the contents by right clicking on the folder. An Introduction to applying styles in MS Word 2010

Keeping formatting consistent is made easy by using Styles and they allow you to change the look of the text formatting throughout your file with a few clicks. This video shows how to apply styles in a MS Word 2010 file. Word 2011 is for Apple computers, there is a collection of similar video for use with the PC version Word 2010.

University of Southampton thesis template for MS Word 2010/2013 (PC) and 2011 (Mac)

This template is for use with both Word 2010/2013/2016 for PC and Word 2011/2016 for Apple Mac. It provides a structure and format that meets with the University's quality requirements for a thesis such as mirror margins to allow for double-sided printing. It is not compulsory to use the template when writing a thesis, however it's use, in conjunction with the supporting material referenced at the start of the template, will make your thesis well presented and should save you a lot of time and effort. If you have Word 2003 there is a separate template for this version of Word available. Since this is not a University supported version of Office there are no supporting videos.

Social Media Analytics: Trust and Power

In this lecture for a second year interdisciplinary course (part of the curriculum innovation programme) We explore the scope of social media analytics and look at two aspects in depth: Analysing for influence (looking at factors such as network structure, propagation of content and interaction), and analysing for trust (looking at different methods including policy, provenance and reputation - both local and global). The lecture notes include a number of short videos, which cannot be included here for copy-write reasons.
