Correlación entre la escala clínica de Apache II y la imagenológica de Balthazar en la evaluación de pancreatitis aguda severa en pacientes adultos de la Fundación Cardioinfantil entre 2008-2010

El diagnóstico oportuno en pancreatitis aguda es clave para abordar adecuadamente al paciente, para disminuir complicaciones. En la evaluación de la severidad de la pancreatitis, se cuenta con la escanografía; útil en la determinación de complicaciones locales; sin embargo, es necesario establecer su correlación con el curso clínico del paciente, evaluado mediante la escala APACHE II que cuenta con diversas variables. METODOLOGIA: Determinar la correlación entre las escalas clínica e imagenológica en la evaluación de severidad de la pancreatitis. Para esto, se revisan historias clínicas de la Fundación Cardio - Infantil de pacientes con pancreatitis aguda, se revisa si cumplen criterios de inclusión, y se emplea análisis estadístico descriptivo en SPSS, para establecer correlación entre las variables. RESULTADOS: Existe pobre correlación entre las variables, porque son escalas que evalúan parámetros diferentes, lo que hace que estas escalas se complementen. DISCUSION: Se analizaron 189 pacientes, de una población de 264; los restantes no cumplían criterios de inclusión. Las características demográficas y la etiología de la pancreatitis son muy similares a las descritas en otros estudios. Se tomaron paraclínicos para definir criterios de Ramson; y se les realizó escanografía abdominal para buscar complicaciones locales; de acuerdo a la escala BALTHAZAR-INDICE DE SEVERIDAD; y la evaluación clínica APACHE II, para hacer seguimiento clínico. El criterio de ingreso a UCI se evalúa con la escala APACHE II que puede hacerse periódicamente; posteriormente se evaluó coeficientes de correlación entre las variables con mayor impacto en pronóstico. Turing’s imitation game and human thought

In 1950, the English mathematician Alan Mathison Turing proposed the basis of what some authors consider the test that a machine must pass to establish that it can think. This test is basically a game; nevertheless, it has had great infl uence in the development of the theories of the mind performance. The game specifications and some of its repercussions in the conception of thinking, the consciousness and the human will, will be ramifications of the path that will take us through the beginning of the artificial intelligence, passing along some of its singular manifestations, to culminate in the posing of certain restrictions of its fundaments.

Conflict and negotiation: a game theoretical approach

We study economic conflicts using a game theoretical approach. We model a conflict between two agents where each one has two possible strategies: cease-fire or neglect the truce. Under this setting, we use the concept of pre-donations, namely, a redefinition of the game where agents commit to transfer a share of their output to the other agent (Sertel, 1992), and explain under which conditions a system of pre-donations can facilitate a truce. We find that for conflicts involving high costs there is a distributive mechanism, acceptable for both parties, such that, the best strategy for both parties is Cease-Fire. However, in many cases there are no sufficient conditions for the scheme or pre-donations to be effective. We also analyze some limitations of this framework and extend the model in order to deal with some of these flaws. Finally, in order to illustrate the relevance of the theoretical results we briefly describe some of the circumstances that characterized the negotiation processes between the Colombian government and different illegal groups.

La pelota no se mancha: Un estudio histórico sobre el desarrollo y la política en FIFA

Esta investigación se centra en la Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) como organización política. Intenta responder dos interrogantes primordiales: 1) ¿cómo la FIFA ha constituido el poder que tiene actualmente y, así, hacerse del monopolio indiscutido del fútbol? Y 2) ¿cómo ha cambiado en el tiempo la política interna de FIFA y su vínculo con la política internacional? Para lograr esto, se realiza un estudio histórico, basado principalmente en documentos, que intenta caracterizar y analizar los cambios de la organización en el tiempo. Se enfatizan las últimas dos presidencias de FIFA, de João Havelange y Joseph Blatter, como casos de estudio.
