Indicadores del servicio de acueducto y aglomeración urbana en Colombia

El presente artículo revisa la relación entre la jerarquía territorial urbana y algunos indicadores deservicios públicos domiciliarios. Se estudian los informes anuales de la Superintendencia de Servicios,que no ofrecen una perspectiva espacial consistente. Sin embargo, con base en las evaluacionesintegrales publicadas por esa entidad, se asignan ponderaciones y puntajes a algunos indicadoresde prestación del servicio de acueducto, con el fin de analizar una muestra de 110 empresas. Losresultados muestran índices de servicio decrecientes en función de la posición en la jerarquía urbana(asociada con el número de suscriptores atendidos por las empresas). Estos resultados cuestionanla posición oficial que asevera que es la naturaleza jurídica de los prestadores la que determina losresultados.

Paz en el territorio: dinámica de expansión geográfica del accionar colectivo por la paz en colombia 1978-2003

This article is an attempt to make an introduction, both empirical grounded and descriptive, of the dynamic that the collective action for peace shows in the Colombian society, with special emphasis in the geographical dimension. The article is developed in two main parts: firstly, the key characteristics of such social mobilization for peace are presented (an important and massive mobilization, which displays a varied repertoire of action forms and reaches a countrywide scale). Secondly, using the data of the Cinep’s collective action for peace database (Datapaz), the process of geographical expansion of those actions are showed. Tour periods of time are considered: the antecedents of the peace mobilization (1978-1985),the activation of the peace mobilization (1986-1992), the blossoming of the peace organizations and massive demonstrations (1993-1999), and, finally, the crisis of the massive demonstrations but a great dynamism at the local level (2000-2003). Summarizing, the article starts to elaborate which can be called a geography of peace; that is to say, it is an analysis that shows the geographical dynamic of the collective efforts for peace in the Colombian society. It aims to demonstrate that the Colombian reality is not only armed conflict, but also a growing confluence of initiatives and efforts towards finding alternatives to violence.

Vereda Crucero Puelenje: interfaz periurbana ante a urbanização em Popayán, Colombia

This article is the result of a work of research conducted on the peri-urban interface of Popayan to detect its potential, restrictions and pathologies regarding the urbanization process. The Crucero Puelenje village, taken as a case study, is located in the south of the town center and it is recognized as one of the agricultural pantries of the city.The territory reading was focused on the macro-landscape as a result of the relationship between social groups and their physical and natural environment. Hence, this research process articulated technical and participatory methodologies that allowed determining the socio-cultural, environmental, physical-spatial, economic and political-administrative particularities of the territory with respect to urbanization and local development. Thus, the participatory component with the Crucero Puelenje community, both in the participatory workshops and in the census, gave feedback to the technical component considered as the guiding thread.This research found knowledge applicable to spatial planning and regional development from the study of the socio-environmental and territorial transformations impact caused by the urban sprawl of Popayán, and at the same time, it offered the Crucero Puelenje community the possibility of interpreting its territory and gaining insights about its planning.

Entropic system of daily mobility in a Metropolitan Area of Bogota, Colombia.

The fundamental diseconomy in the large metropolitan areas is the significant and sustained increase in travel time incurred by its inhabitants daily. Since a portion of the energy consumed in the daily mobility does not necessarily translate into individual and collective wealth, entropic systems have a feature which, as discussed for the case of Bogotá, does not have metropolitan institutions with the ability to redirect.
