Multidimensional Adaptations for Open Learning Management Systems

Our work is focused on alleviating the workload for designers of adaptive courses on the complexity task of authoring adaptive learning designs adjusted to specific user characteristics and the user context. We propose an adaptation platform that consists in a set of intelligent agents where each agent carries out an independent adaptation task. The agents apply machine learning techniques to support the user modelling for the adaptation process

Dynamic bandwidth management as part of an integrated network management system based on distributed agents

We present a system for dynamic network resource configuration in environments with bandwidth reservation and path restoration mechanisms. Our focus is on the dynamic bandwidth management results, although the main goal of the system is the integration of the different mechanisms that manage the reserved paths (bandwidth, restoration, and spare capacity planning). The objective is to avoid conflicts between these mechanisms. The system is able to dynamically manage a logical network such as a virtual path network in ATM or a label switch path network in MPLS. This system has been designed to be modular in the sense that in can be activated or deactivated, and it can be applied only in a sub-network. Designing context-aware adaptive units of learning based on IMS-LD standard

Learning contents adaptation has been a subject of interest in the research area of the adaptive hypermedia systems. Defining which variables and which standards can be considered to model adaptive content delivery processes is one of the main challenges in pedagogical design over e-learning environments. In this paper some specifications, architectures and technologies that can be used in contents adaptation processes considering characteristics of the context are described and a proposal to integrate some of these characteristics in the design of units of learning using adaptation conditions in a structure of IMS-Learning Design (IMS-LD) is presented. The key contribution of this work is the generation of instructional designs considering the context, which can be used in Learning Management Systems (LMSs) and diverse mobile devices

This project describes a Web Geographic Information System (WebGIS) built on an Open Source geographic structure lice MapServer (Minnesota University) and PostgreSQL/PostGIS (object relational database management system). The WebGIS is a web site to route ways in streets net of a part of Sao Paulo city (Brazil). The system traces the route based in a best way algorithm looking for better streets traffic conditions

La ISO 9000: ¿Seguirá siendo válida en la nueva era de la gestión de la calidad?

Si bien la gestión de la Calidad siempre ha estado presente en nuestro entorno, no es hasta la aparición de la famosa normativa ISO 9000 que su impacto se ha incluso popularizado, tanto a escala nacional como internacional. En la actualidad, cuando las empresas y organizaciones de nuestro país se plantean nuevos retos (modelos de gestión de la calidad total como el EFQM, nuevos estándares de gestión como la ISO 14000, estándares de soporte como la ISO 10000, …), en este artículo nos preguntamos si la ISO 9000 seguirá siendo válida en esta nueva era
