The present study shows design and development of a performance evaluation prototype for IT organizations in the context of outsourcing. The main objective of this research is to help an IT organization in the context of outsourcing to realize its current standing, so it can take corrective steps where ever necessary and strive for continuous improvement. Service level management (SLM) process plays a crucial role in controlling the quality provision for IT service. Out sourcing is the process of entrusting the responsibility of providing certain goods and services to an external party. We have tried to identify as many as twenty complexities and categorized in to four headings. Complexities associated with contracts and SLAs,SLM process,SLM organization and complexities due to intrinsic characteristics. An efficient scheme for the evaluation of coding performance of high speed links incorporating joint error behaviour based on Monte Carlo Method

While channel coding is a standard method of improving a system’s energy efficiency in digital communications, its practice does not extend to high-speed links. Increasing demands in network speeds are placing a large burden on the energy efficiency of high-speed links and render the benefit of channel coding for these systems a timely subject. The low error rates of interest and the presence of residual intersymbol interference (ISI) caused by hardware constraints impede the analysis and simulation of coded high-speed links. Focusing on the residual ISI and combined noise as the dominant error mechanisms, this paper analyses error correlation through concepts of error region, channel signature, and correlation distance. This framework provides a deeper insight into joint error behaviours in high-speed links, extends the range of statistical simulation for coded high-speed links, and provides a case against the use of biased Monte Carlo methods in this setting

Development of Photorefractive Polymers: Evaluation of Photoconducting and Electro-optic Properties

This Thesis discussed molecules suitable for photorefractive effect. Out of the molecules studied, only one system was used to make photorefractive polymers system. Other molecules, especially, the electro-optic polymer, Poly(3-methacrloyl-1-(4'-nitro-4-azo-1'-phenyl)phenylalanine-co- methyl methacrylate) can be subjected to more detailed studies to explore the possibilities of using them for electro-optic applications. Though not included in the thesis, the efficient photoconductor, Poly(6-tert-butyl-3- phenyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine) sensitized with C60, which was described in Chapter 3 showed a low magnitude photovoltaic effect. This hints at the possibility of using this system for organic solar cells also. The thesis presented the initial observation of photorefractive effect in a polybenzoxazine based polymer system. A detailed analysis of the effect of C60, ECZ and DR1 can be carried out to check for the possibility of a high efficiency photorefractive system.

The main benefit of Jeevan Saathi policy is that, it is a joint life policy which covers the life of both husband and wife under a single policy. And they also get double benefit if any one of them dies during the term of the policy. The Jeevan Mitra policy is a single life policy, the main advantage of which is that the dependents get double benefit in case of normal death and triple benefit in case of accidental death during the term of policy. so both the policies have their own attractions but when compared with the annual sales of other policies, the additional increase in the sales of these policies are decreasing. It is a fact finding study concerned with market performance of these two policies by conducting a survey among the Jeevan Saathi and Jeevan Mitra policy holders, and a thorough analysis of the various information or data collected from them. This study is an attempt to present an integrated picture of the main features of the policy holders who have bought these policies, the major factors responsible for making them purchase these policies, the various difficulties faced by them at present and further modification needed in the plans of these policies according to the opinion of policy holders. For increasing accuracy of the conclusions, information is also collected from Agents and Development Officers by using interview schedule. The main purpose of this study is to draw attention of LIC to introduce new plans of policies taking into consideration the drawbacks or defects of the existing policies and present needs of policy holders. It will also help to make new plans in order to suit the needs of more people who want to buy life insurance policies
