The binding of (-)[ 3H ]dihydroalprenolol , an antagonist of norepinephrine , to $-adrenergic receptors in different regions of the brain of male and female rats of various ages was measured . The binding to the synaptosomal fraction of corpus striatum , hypothalamus, cerebral cortex, cerebellum and the brainstems shows a significant decrease in the binding in old rats of both sexes . Only in the female corpus striatal region, the binding in the adult and the old is the same . In the case of females, the highest binding is seen in the young. In the male, an increase in binding occurs up to adulthood , after which it declines, suggesting a definite sex-related difference in the Q-adrenergic receptor.

We are in the cutting edge of a new era of development without leaving any promises to next generation. But the scale and size of the problem are only partially blamed. The juggernaut of Globalisation has trampled upon whatever little hope we might have had making a quick transition to a less energy – intensive world. “Environment friendliness begins at home”. Our quest for productivity and profitability should progress simultaneous with our cooperative responsibility of leaving behind a clean and green earth for the generation to come. Climate change is the most pressing global environmental challenge being faced by humanity, with the quest for better productivity for our fragile ecosystem. It is too late to rely solely on reduction in Green house gas emissions to mitigate climate change although this is undoubtedly crucial. Coastal belts are more prone to these devastating impacts and its protection is an intensive filed of research. The present study describes how the colourful Carotenoids and Chlorophylls can be used in rapid hand on tool in conjunction with molecular biology to open sources and it also explores the fate of organic matter in the aquatic system and underlying sediments.

We consider a resistively shunted Josephson junction with a resistance that depends inversely on voltage. It is shown that such a junction in the underdamped case can give rise to extremely long-lived metastable states even in the absence of external noise. We investigate numerically this metastable state and its transition to a chaotic state. The junction voltages corresponding to these states are studied.

We discuss how the presence of frustration brings about irregular behaviour in a pendulum with nonlinear dissipation. Here frustration arises owing to particular choice of the dissipation. A preliminary numerical analysis is presented which indicates the transition to chaos at low frequencies of the driving force.
