A graphs G is clique irreducible if every clique in G of size at least two,has an edge which does not lie in any other clique of G and is clique reducible if it is not clique irreducible. A graph G is clique vertex irreducible if every clique in G has a vertex which does not lie in any other clique of G and clique vertex reducible if it is not clique vertex irreducible. The clique vertex irreducibility and clique irreducibility of graphs which are non-complete extended p-sums (NEPS) of two graphs are studied. We prove that if G(c) has at least two non-trivial components then G is clique vertex reducible and if it has at least three non-trivial components then G is clique reducible. The cographs and the distance hereditary graphs which are clique vertex irreducible and clique irreducible are also recursively characterized.

This thesis Entitled On Infinite graphs and related matrices.ln the last two decades (iraph theory has captured wide attraction as a Mathematical model for any system involving a binary relation. The theory is intimately related to many other branches of Mathematics including Matrix Theory Group theory. Probability. Topology and Combinatorics . and has applications in many other disciplines..Any sort of study on infinite graphs naturally involves an attempt to extend the well known results on the much familiar finite graphs. A graph is completely determined by either its adjacencies or its incidences. A matrix can convey this information completely. This makes a proper labelling of the vertices. edges and any other elements considered, an inevitable process. Many types of labelling of finite graphs as Cordial labelling, Egyptian labelling, Arithmetic labeling and Magical labelling are available in the literature. The number of matrices associated with a finite graph are too many For a study ofthis type to be exhaustive. A large number of theorems have been established by various authors for finite matrices. The extension of these results to infinite matrices associated with infinite graphs is neither obvious nor always possible due to convergence problems. In this thesis our attempt is to obtain theorems of a similar nature on infinite graphs and infinite matrices. We consider the three most commonly used matrices or operators, namely, the adjacency matrix

The object of this thesis is to formulate a basic commutative difference operator theory for functions defined on a basic sequence, and a bibasic commutative difference operator theory for functions defined on a bibasic sequence of points, which can be applied to the solution of basic and bibasic difference equations. in this thesis a brief survey of the work done in this field in the classical case, as well as a review of the development of q~difference equations, q—analytic function theory, bibasic analytic function theory, bianalytic function theory, discrete pseudoanalytic function theory and finally a summary of results of this thesis

An attempt is made by the researcher to establish a theory of discrete functions in the complex plane. Classical analysis q-basic theory, monodiffric theory, preholomorphic theory and q-analytic theory have been utilised to develop concepts like differentiation, integration and special functions.

This thesis is an attempt to initiate the development of a discrete geometry of the discrete plane H = {(qmxo,qnyo); m,n e Z - the set of integers}, where q s (0,1) is fixed and (xO,yO) is a fixed point in the first quadrant of the complex plane, xo,y0 ¢ 0. The discrete plane was first considered by Harman in 1972, to evolve a discrete analytic function theory for geometric difference functions. We shall mention briefly, through various sections, the principle of discretization, an outline of discrete a alytic function theory, the concept of geometry of space and also summary of work done in this thesis

There is a recent trend to describe physical phenomena without the use of infinitesimals or infinites. This has been accomplished replacing differential calculus by the finite difference theory. Discrete function theory was first introduced in l94l. This theory is concerned with a study of functions defined on a discrete set of points in the complex plane. The theory was extensively developed for functions defined on a Gaussian lattice. In 1972 a very suitable lattice H: {Ci qmxO,I qnyo), X0) 0, X3) 0, O < q < l, m, n 5 Z} was found and discrete analytic function theory was developed. Very recently some work has been done in discrete monodiffric function theory for functions defined on H. The theory of pseudoanalytic functions is a generalisation of the theory of analytic functions. When the generator becomes the identity, ie., (l, i) the theory of pseudoanalytic functions reduces to the theory of analytic functions. Theugh the theory of pseudoanalytic functions plays an important role in analysis, no discrete theory is available in literature. This thesis is an attempt in that direction. A discrete pseudoanalytic theory is derived for functions defined on H.

During that period there were two streams of Mathematical activity. On one side many eminent scholers, who wrote in Sanskrit, .he l d the field as before without being much influenced by other sources. On the other side there were scholars whose writings were based on Arabic and Persian text but who occasionally drew upon other sources also.

It is highly desirable that any multivariate distribution possessescharacteristic properties that are generalisation in some sense of the corresponding results in the univariate case. Therefore it is of interest to examine whether a multivariate distribution can admit such characterizations. In the exponential context, the question to be answered is, in what meaning— ful way can one extend the unique properties in the univariate case in a bivariate set up? Since the lack of memory property is the best studied and most useful property of the exponential law, our first endeavour in the present thesis, is to suitably extend this property and its equivalent forms so as to characterize the Gumbel's bivariate exponential distribution. Though there are many forms of bivariate exponential distributions, a matching interest has not been shown in developing corresponding discrete versions in the form of bivariate geometric distributions. Accordingly, attempt is also made to introduce the geometric version of the Gumbel distribution and examine several of its characteristic properties. A major area where exponential models are successfully applied being reliability theory, we also look into the role of these bivariate laws in that context. An antimedian of a pro le = (x1; x2; : : : ; xk) of vertices of a graph G is a vertex maximizing the sum of the distances to the elements of the pro le. The antimedian function is de ned on the set of all pro les on G and has as output the set of antimedians of a pro le. It is a typical location function for nding a location for an obnoxious facility. The `converse' of the antimedian function is the median function, where the distance sum is minimized. The median function is well studied. For instance it has been characterized axiomatically by three simple axioms on median graphs. The median function behaves nicely on many classes of graphs. In contrast the antimedian function does not have a nice behavior on most classes. So a nice axiomatic characterization may not be expected. In this paper such a characterization is obtained for the two classes of graphs on which the antimedian is well-behaved: paths and hypercubes.

A profile is a finite sequence of vertices of a graph. The set of all vertices of the graph which minimises the sum of the distances to the vertices of the profile is the median of the profile. Any subset of the vertex set such that it is the median of some profile is called a median set. The number of median sets of a graph is defined to be the median number of the graph. In this paper, we identify the median sets of various classes of graphs such as Kp − e, Kp,q forP > 2, and wheel graph and so forth. The median numbers of these graphs and hypercubes are found out, and an upper bound for the median number of even cycles is established.We also express the median number of a product graph in terms of the median number of their factors.
