A single-feed rectangular-ring microstrip antenna is proposed for indoor communication under the Bluetooth protocol. The dimensions of the antenna together with the location of the feed point are optimized through field simulations in order to cover the Bluetooth bandwidth and to avoid linear polarization. The performance and the efficiency of the antenna are illustrated in a real indoor environment

A novel antenna configuration comprised of two circular micro strip antennas (CMAs) resonating in the TMtt and TM2, modes, producing radiation characteristics suitable for a mobile telephone handset, is presented. The antennas operating at the same frequency are placed back to back with a separation comparable to the thickness of a typical handset. The radiation pattern consists of a region of reduced radiation intensity, which minimizes the radiation hazards to the user

A new compact dual-band, dual-polarized microstrip antenna is presented. 7'iris antenna resonates at two frequencies with different polarizations: a linearly polarized one for terrestrial communication, and a circularly polarized one for satellite mobile communication. This antenna also provides an area reduction of 70% compared to a standard rectangular patch antenna

compact multihand planar octagonal-shaped microstrip antenna simultaneously suitable for mobile communication and blue tooth application is presented. The antenna provides sufficient isolation benveen the two operating bands and an area reduction of -29 % with respect to a circular patch operating in the same band

A new design of' a dual-frequency dual-polarized square microsh'ip antenna fed along the diagonal, embedded with a square slot having three extended stubs for frequency tuning, is introduced. The proposed antenna was fabricated using a standard photolithographic method and the antenna was tested using the HP 3510(:; Vector Network Analyser. The antenna is capable of generating dual resonant frequencies with mutually perpendicular polarizations and broad radiation pattern characteristics. Such dual-frequency designs find wide applications in personal mobile handsets combining GSM and CDS 1800 modes, and applications in which different frequencies are used for emission and reception such as personal satellite communications and cellular network systems.

Usage of a dielectric multilayer around a dielectric Sample is studied as a means for improving the efficiency in multimode microwave- heating cavities. The results show that by using additional dielectric constant layers the appearance of undesired reflections at the sample-air interface is avoided and higher power -absorption rates within the sample and high -efficiency designs are obtained

Development of a new type of microwave absorbing material using rubber latex and carbon. for application in the interior lining of anechoic chambers, has been reported. Absorption coefficients of different combinations were estimated at X and S bands and the results were presented graphically. A combination of 50% rubber latex, 40% carbon and 10% graphite is found to form an ideal microwave absorbing material in the X and s bands

A forward - biased point contact germanium signal diode placed inside a waveguide section along the E -vector is found to introduce significant phase shift of microwave signals . The usefulness of the arrangement as a phase modulator for microwave carriers is demonstrated. While there is a less significant amplitude modulation accompanying phase modulation , the insertion losses are found to be negligible. The observations can be explained on the basis of the capacitance variation of the barrier layer with forward current in the diode

Ceramic dielectrics with high dielectric constant in the microwave frequency range are used as filters, oscillators [I], etc. in microwave integrated circuits (MICs) particularly in modern communication systems like cellular telephones and satellite communications. Such ceramics, known as 'dielectric resonators (DRs),donot only offer miniaturisation and reduce the weight of the microwave components. but also improve the efficiency of MICs

The (Ba1-x Srx) (Nd1/2, Nb1/2) O3 ceramics have been prepared by the conventional ceramic route for different values of x. Addition of a small amount of CeO2(1 wt%) as a sintering aid increased the density of the samples. The structure and microstructure of the sintered samples are studied by X-ray diffraction and SEM methods. The dielectric properties of the samples are measured in the microwave frequency region as a function of composition. The dielectric constant decreases as x increases. The coefficient of thermal variation of resonant frequency decreases as the Sr content increases and goes to the negative side. The dielectric properties of (Ba1-x Srx) (Nd1/2, Nb1/2) O3 are in the range suitable for application as dielectric resonators in microwave circuits
