Effects of combined electric and acoustic hearing on speech perception of a pediatric cochlear implant user

The primary objective of this study was to document the benefits and possible detriments of combining ipsilateral acoustic hearing in the cochlear implant ear of a patient with preserved low frequency residual hearing post cochlear implantation. The secondary aim was to examine the efficacy of various cochlear implant mapping and hearing aid fitting strategies in relation to electro-acoustic benefits.

Efficacy of a combined drug therapy for ameliorating noise-induced hearing loss

Experiments investigated the median effective dose of antiepileptic drugs and synthetic glucocorticoids for the prevention and treatment of noise-induced hearing loss for C57BL/6J mice. We also tested the possible synergistic effects of combining drugs from the two drug families.
