The letter mentions how much Eleanore Celeste would like to be cozy in her home and how she does not approve of large mansions for her family. Eleanore Celeste describes her previous day: Studies, shopping for Mother, bridge party, out with girls and Uncle Dick. They attended the play "pearls" starring Robert Edison. The rest of the letter is written on New Year's Eve at twelve o'clock. She recounts last New Year's Eve.

Eleanore Celeste writes that she is waiting for her "big sister to dismiss two bad boys, then we are going down town shopping". This letter is incomplete and undated.

Letter - E.C. Schmon to Arthur A. Schmon, Tuesday A.M.

The letter mentions that Arthur was supposed to arrive, but did not. The letter mentions evangelist Billy Sunday. She also mentions the authors she has been reading: Hood, Emerson, Wordsworth and Byron. Eleanore Celeste plans to begin reading "Parsifal of Wagner". This letter is undated.

Eleanore Celeste mentions she would like to write in French or German so that others would not be able to understand what she writes to Arthur. She also mentions that Arthur asked if she minded if he called on other girls while in Washington. She responds honestly and states it would be hurtful. This letter is not dated.

The letter mentions a snow storm that came through Eastern Canada and "cripples" the telegraph wires. She also mentions heading to Shelter Bay around December. This letter has no date.

Eleanore Celeste received a book from Arthur for Christmas, entitled "The Ruling Passion" by Henry Van Dyke. This appears to be early in their relationship because she signs the letter "Celeste".

Eleanore Celeste mentions that she went to church and then began to read the book "The Woman named Smith. She finished the book and spent the night awake worrying about Arthur since she has not received a night letter in a week. The next day she receives a telegram from Arthur and she is at "peace". The second part of the letter mentions her mother is attending her final examination before an operation. This letter is labelled number 103.

The letter states that they will see one another on the nineteenth and Eleanore Celeste is excited for the date to arrive. She also mentions some volunteer work "tagging" for donations for the "benefit of war sufferers". She also attends a concert of Columbia University given at Carnegie Hall.

Eleanore Celeste mentions her mother's eye surgery is complete and she is now recuperating. She also mentions that Arthur plans to come for a short visit soon.
