The New York Weekly Museum Newspaper, Vol. I, No.26- October 31, 1812

A weekly paper that was published from 1805 to 1814. War related news includes: Page 103 - Weekly Retrospect: Troop movements of Captain Morgan and a company of light dragoons from Niagara to Greenbush; report on the Battle of Queenston Heights including a casualty listing and a mention of the death of Major General Isaac Brock and Colonel McDonald and the American's respect for Brock; British attach of Fort Erie and the Village of Black Rock; the privateer Globe under Captain Murphy returning to Baltimore after capturing a British letter of marque; First Nation / Indian attacks near St. Louis; movements of General W. Harrison and army from Fort Defiance to the rapids of Miama (Miami). The rest of the newspaper contains literary works (poems and translations), essays (including on celibacy), marriages, deaths and other anecdotes. The Weekly Register Vol. III, No. 11, Whole No. 63- November 14,1812

The Weekly Register, also known as Niles Weekly Register, was a weekly periodical edited by Hezekiah Niles (1777-1839) and published in Baltimore Maryland. Volumes of interest were published between 1811 (Vol. 1, No. 1, September 7, 1811) to 1814 (Vol. 5, No. 26, February 26, 1814). These volumes focus primarily on 19th century politics and government in the United States of America. Niles edited and published the Weekly Register until 1836, making it one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States. The popularity also made Niles into one of the most influential journalists of his day. Devoted primarily to politics, Niles' Weekly Register is considered an important source for the history of the period. The Register also recorded current economics, technology, science, medicine, geography, archaeology, the weather, and stories of human interest. This issue is part of a bound book titled the Weekly Register 1812-1814. Independent Chronicle Vol. XLVI No. 3477- August 8, 1814

A semi-weekly paper that was published from 1801 to 1817. It was previously called the Independent chronicle and the universal advertiser, and was later the Independent chronicle and Boston patriot (Semiweekly). Publishers were Abijah Adams and Ebenezer Rhoades. Topics of interest in this issue include: Page 1: notice from the U.S. War Department seeking proposals for the supply of rations to troops; account of the battle of Bridgewater; list of important military figures wounded in the battle; news of prisoner exchange; Americans and the British negotiate and new prisoner exchange convention; Page 2: report of more British troops sailing to North America; report of some Indian tribes signing a treaty to fight against the British; report of battle near Detroit; report of militia moving from Fredricksburg, Virginia to Baltimore, Maryland; report of troop numbers and casualties in the battle of Bridgewater; report that Commodore Chauncey has recovered from his illness; news of American Naval forces sailing from Sackett's Harbor; Indian tribes sign peace treaty with U.S.; news of U.S. relations with Indians in the southern U.S.; account of battle of Bridgewater and list of casualties; report of the number of men killed and wounded on both sides in the battle of Chippewa; Page 3: report of surprise attack on the British; news of warship movements in and out of Halifax; frigate Java launched in Baltimore; news of British ship movements; 3 companies of Massachusetts militia arrive at Fort Warren; news of ship movements in and out of the Port of Boston; various Marshal's notices alleging U.S. ships supplying goods to the British;

The Boston Gazette, Vol. 4 No. 25- September 14, 1815

A semi-weekly paper that was published from 1803 to 1816. This issue includes an account of the Battle of Chippawa on Pages 1 and 2 as told by U.S. Captain McDonald.

"Where Gen. Brock died. Queenston. Oct. 13, 1812." by Clara Mason

[from back of painting] "The old house faced the river, and the artist has sketched the trees and old fences as they might have been at the time. The remains of the old well were found, and so the path from the house is represented as it probably appeared, together with the old fashioned well cover, common at that period. The artist has suggested a sunset background, in harmony with the evening of life of the old home and the passing of the great General. The house faced the east, so the western glory of the setting sun is most appropriate." The painting was done on paper and the frame is wooden. The artist's signature is located at the lower right. "House where General Brock died, Queenston, Ont."

Profile Portrait of Major General Sir Isaac Brock 1769-1812

This work is a copy of a pastel oval portrait of General Brock that is supposedly the only known portrait of Brock to be done in his lifetime. The original was by William Berczy, circa 1808, and is in the possession of Captain M.H.T Mellish, a descendant of one of Brock's sisters. This portrait was completed on canvas.

Sir Isaac Brock Commemorative Half-Penny Token

Half-penny token struck for general circulation in Upper Canada, about 1816. The token is one of a few issues which commemorate Sir Issac Brock. The name Brock is misspelled "Brook" on this token. The other side bears the picture of a sailing vessel and the motto "Success to the Commerce of Upper Canada".

Promissory Note, February 2, 1812 - William and Abraham Nelles and Nathanial Pettit Estate
