The Deaths page from the Bell Family Bible listing the deaths of Jane Tyrrell in 1886, William C. Tyrrell in 1898, and Lewis Tyrrell in 1908. This Bible was in the possession of the Rick Bell family of St. Catharines, Ontario. Relatives of the Bell family were former Black slaves from the United States who settled in Canada.The handwritten entry appears to read as follows: "Jane Tyrrell, died March 1st 1886 age 64 yrs. William C. Tyrrell died January 15th 1898 by accident in Albany N.Y. age 33 yrs 3 months Lewis Tyrrell died September 25th 1908 at his late residence Vine and Welland Ave. St. Catharines age 81 yrs 5 months." There are various spellings of the Tyrrell name within the Bell family archive. Other forms of the name include Tyrell, Tyrrill, and Terrell.

Michael Sands Hornyansky was the son of well-known artist, Nicholas Hornyansky and a cellist. He attended Oakwood Collegiate, Toronto; University College in Toronto and Merton College, Oxford where he was a Rhodes scholar. He won the Newdigate prize for poetry in 1951. Dr. Hornyansky taught English Language and Literature at Carleton University, Ottawa for 10 years before moving to Niagara in 1964. He was the founding chairman of the English Department of Brock University where he remained until his retirement in 1993. Some of his achievements include:The Golden Phoenix, a retelling of French Canadian folk tales and the publishing of papers on children’s literature and the discriminating use of the English language. He also reviewed poetry for the University of Toronto Quarterly. Michael Hornyansky died on May 14th, 2008 in Alberta at the age of 81. The annual Michael Hornyansky prize for creative writing was established at Brock University.

This copy is signed in the upper left hand corner by Mr. Dickson. Mr. Robert Dickson was one of the directors of the Welland Canal Office. The report covers meetings which were held: January 15-16, and 19 of 1830. The meetings were attended by Messrs. Blacklock, Mackenzie, Woodruff, Longley and Hopkins. Balance sheets are also included within the report. The report of the Welland Canal Company for 1829 is also included within this document, and this is dated December 31, 1829. Names at the end of the 1929 report are members of the Welland Canal Office and they include: John Henry Dunn, president; Henry J. Boulton, vice-president and William Allan, George Keefer, John J. Lefferty and Robert Dickson who were directors The report is dated January 26, 1830, and submitted by Thomas Horner, chairman of the Commons House of Assembly.
