Letter - E.C. Schmon to Arthur A. Schmon, 9 February 1920

Eleanore Celeste has been in an accident after her driver stopped at a police signal, but a truck did not and hit them from behind. No one was injured, but she mentions "my hands are still trembling a bit, I was so frightened". She was on her way to the hospital to see her mother. The letter is labelled number 123.

Eleanore Celeste has been shopping for warm hats and dresses at Koenige, Beyers and Bambergers. She then visited with friends/neighbours the Glaesers. Her family is heading to Rahway, New Jersey. The letters are labelled number 48, 49, and 50.

Eleanore Celested mentions that men have been returning from duty, but Arthur appears to be sad in a photo he has sent her. She writes a loving message to lift his spirits until he returns home. She signs the letter "Wifie to be". The letter is labelled number 268.

A brief letter as Eleanore Cesleste waits for her "Auntie and Uncle Dick" to arrive from Whippang. She mentions she was in town the previous week for a wedding and went to the Waldorf for afternoon tea.

It is unknown when the Montcalm will sail the Gulf of the St. Lawrence, so Eleanore Celeste waits to travel to Arthur in Shelter Bay. She visited with Mother Schmon after taking her own Mother to the dentist. The letter is labelled number 69.

Eleanore Celeste mentions she has not received a letter from Arthur in over three weeks. She discusses her history studies, visits with friends and letters she has received from Arthur's brother Gus. In the second part of the letter, she has received a letter from Arthur. She then begins to tell a scenario of a day in the life of couple once they are living together. The letter is labelled number 13.

She begins the letter by mentioning the marriage of her friend Maude to Leslie Douglass. She had a visit with Mother Schmon and Gus, Arthur's brother has returned to college. There is also a newspaper clipping titled "Can't Send Articles to Soldiers in France Unless Asked For". The letter is labelled number 80.

Eleanore Celeste has had a falling out with her friend Hilda Hartdegen because she doesn't want to contact "Uncle Dickie", but Hilda wants her to call him to set up an outing. Arthur had said that he didn't want Eleanore Celeste to see "Uncle Dickie" without the company of her Mother.

Letter addressed by Benjamin Bates (bearer of the memorial) to a Member of the Legislature, ca. 1812.

Benjamin Bates was a member of the Religious Society of Friends, and served as Clerk of the Society at the time that the Memorial and Petition was written.

Letter written by Napoleon Buonaparte (Bonaparte) to Guillaume Thomas Francois Raynal, June 24, 1790

Translation: Sir, It will probably be difficult for you to remember among the many strangers who annoy you with their admiration of a person to whom you kindly made civilities last year1 during a pleasant conversation about Corsica. I would be grateful if you could take a look at this sketch of his history.2 I present here the first of two letters. If you agree to them, I will send you the end. My brother, whom I recommend not to forget his deputies' commission to escort Paoli to his country,3 and to come and receive a lesson in virtue and humanity, will give them to you. I respectfully your most humble and obedient servant.4 Buonaparte, artillery officer Ajaccio, [Corsica] June 24 the first year of freedom [1790]5 1 Relations between Napoleon and Raynal have begun in 1789, which seems to confirm a confidence to Las Cases ( Memorial of St. Helena , La Pléiade , vol. I, p. 83) . 2 Latest version of history project of Corsica : Letters on Corsica to Abbe Raynal . 3 Joseph is part of a delegation sent by the city of Ajaccio to host Paoli 's return from exile in London . In doing so he has to go through Marseille where Raynal resides. 4 Shipping autograph, National Archives , 400 AP Biography 1. In the first years of Napoleon Bonaparte (1840) , Coston gives a rough version of this letter that it dates from 1786 , which is impossible because Raynal did not return to France that ' in 1787. Published for the first time in the Memories of Lord Holland (1851) , shipping is now kept in the national Archives Napoleons funds . 5 The letter is dated "June 24, the first year of freedom" (the word "freedom" is underlined twice). Given the dates of stay in Corsica Napoleon, it seems that is present in Ajaccio the month of June in 1790.

Sympathy Letter from Prime Minister

A letter from Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney, expressing sympathy to the parents of Father Sean O'Sullivan. Father Sean passed away in 1989 after battling leukemia, he was 37 years old.

Letter - John Diefenbaker to Sean O'Sullivan, 17 November 1967

The letter mentions that Diefenbaker had just received a letter from O'Sullivan. Diefenbaker mentions that he will be leaving for New York where he will be honoured with the Shevchenko award at the World Conference of Free Ukrainians. He is being recognized for bringing world attention to the denial of freedom to Ukraine and to the Baltic States. He joins a list of past recipients that include: President Truman, President Eisenhower and Vice-President Humphrey.

Letter - Sean O'Sullivan to J. Diefenbaker, April 1968

The letter begins by thanking J. Diefenbaker for a personal note and other mementos. O'Sullivan then begins to discuss Trudeau and his popularity, he remarks "If he calls an early election, he will sweep the Country. Truly he is a phenomenon, thanks to the press of Canada. However, the press are a fickle lot and could easily turn their marriage to him into a divorce under the new rules he had Parliament pass." He also discusses his opinion of how the provinces will vote in an upcoming election.

Letter - Sean O'Sullivan to J. Diefenbaker, November 1969

A letter from Sean O'Sullivan to John Diefenbaker, 29 November 1969. O'Sullivan mentions a confrontation between Diefenbaker and Prime Minister Trudeau, during which Trudeau made an error and apologized to the House. Instead of seizing the moment to ridicule, Diefenbaker crossed the floor to accept the apology. O'Sullivan remarks "The gesture you made brought new honour to Parliament; an honour far too often lacking; and serves to remind all Canadians of the difference between a true leader and a petty political opportunist". He ends his letter by mentioning graffiti on the walls of Brock University that reads: "Mickey Mouse wears a Robert Stanfield watch".
