The Mexican dream is the equivalent of the American Dream for Mexico. This thesis explores what is the equivalent of the American Dream for young Mexican adults (25 to 35 year old Mexicans). The aim of the study is to develop an understanding of the core values of young Mexican adults. The study is made for a case company, Expertos Patrimoniales Wealth Management Advisors, who intend to sell financial management services to these young Mexican adults in the next 5 to 10 years. This study implements a cross-cultural consumer behavior framework by David Luna, in order to consider factors like culture, and value systems to uncover the Mexican Dream for young Mexican adults. In order to gather data for this study, key informants were interviewed in specific areas, such as culture, financial consumer behavior and Mexican culture among others. The results suggest that independence is a strong driver for the young Mexican adults, independence from their family, from the corporate hierarchy and men. These core drivers differ from the traditional culture values where hierarchy and a secure job, family which includes the extended family and women´s economic dependency on men have been strong. Images of the future are created in order to understand the young Mexican adults Mexican Dream in the next 5 to 10 years, in order to provide useful information for the case company for the development of products and services that this segment of the Mexican market might find interesting in the near future.

This dissertation discusses Holocene palaeoenvironmental and palaeomagnetic secular variation (PSV) records reconstructed from sediments preserved in Lake Lehmilampi (63º37´N, 29º06´E) and Lake Kortejärvi (63º37´N, 28º56´E) in eastern Finland. Several piston and freeze cores were obtained from both lakes for varve and magnetic analyses. Sediment samples were impregnated in low-viscosity epoxy and physical parameters of varves, including varve thickness and relative grey-scale values, were recorded using x-ray densitometry combined with semiautomatic digital image analysis. On average, varve records of Lehmilampi and Kortejärvi cover 5122 and 3902 years, respectively. Past solar activity, as estimated by residual 14C data, compares favourably with varve thicknesses from Lehmilampi during the last 2000 years. This indicates the potential of clastic-organic varves to record sensitively climatic variations. Bulk magnetic parameters, including magnetic susceptibility together with natural, anhysteretic and isothermal remanent magnetizations, were measured to describe mineral magnetic properties and geomagnetic palaeosecular variation recorded in the sediments. Main stages in the development of the investigated lakes are reflected in the variations in the mineral magnetic records, sediment lithology and composition. Similar variations in magnetic parameters and sediment organic matter suggest contribution of bacterial magnetite in the magnetic assemblages of Lehmilampi. Inclination and relative declination records yielded largely consistent results, attesting to the great potential of these sediments to preserve directional palaeosecular variation in high resolution. The PSV data from Lehmilampi and Kortejärvi were stacked into North Karelian PSV stack, which may be used for dating homogenous lake sediments in the same regional context. Reconstructed millennial variations in relative palaeointensity results are approximately in agreement with those seen in the absolute palaeointensity data from Europe. Centennial variations in the relative palaeointensity, however, are influenced by environmental changes. Caution is recommended when using varved lake sediments in reconstructing relative palaeointensity.

Tämän tutkielman tavoitteena on selvittää, mitkä tekijät vaikuttavat henkilöstöpalvelualan yrityksessä työskentelevien y-sukupolveen kuuluvien tietotyöläisten organisaatiositoutumiseen ja näin löytää keinoja edistää tämän henkilöstöryhmän sitoutumista. Päätutkimuskysymys on ”Miten tietotyötä tekevän milleniaalin organisaatiositoutumista voidaan edistää?”. Tutkielma on kvalitatiivinen tapaustutkimus, aineisto kerättiin puolistrukturoiduilla haastatteluilla. Aineisto analysoitiin teoriaohjaavasti organisaatiositoutumiseen, milleniaaleihin ja tietotyöhön liittyvää teoreettista viitekehystä tukena käyttäen ja abduktiivista päättelyä hyödyntäen. Tutkimustulosten mukaan tietotyötä tekevä milleniaali on sitoutunut työhönsä, työyhteisöönsä ja organisaatioon. Organisaatiositoutuminen muodostuu useammasta kuin yhdestä komponentista ja on aineiston mukaan muodoltaan niin affektiivista, normatiivista kuin jatkuvaakin. Nykyorganisaatiossa sitouttavat erityisesti hyvä esimiestyö, työn haastavuus, mahdollisuudet työnkuvan monipuolistamiseen, uramahdollisuudet ja ammatillisen kehittymisen tukeminen. Tulevaisuudessa tietotyötä kohdeyrityksessä tekevät milleniaalit toivovat, että organisaatio panostaisi sitouttamisen edistämiseksi erityisesti yksilön arvostamiseen, työntekijöiden ammatilliseen kehittymiseen, urasuunnitteluun, palkitsemiseen, esimiestyöhön ja yhteisöllisyyteen.
