Resumo:
We study how conveyor drives in refrigerating rooms affect total energy costs. Studied conveyor drives are different types of gear motor drives. Energy efficiencies of the conveyor drives are determined by using direct torque measurement and energy costs of the conveyor drives are approximated from these results. From the measurement results and the approximated total costs it can be seen how the energy efficiency of a conveyor drive has a considerable influence on the total costs, especially, with large operating hours. An energy efficient conveyor drive can minimize the total energy costs by reducing the energy consumption of the conveyor motor while cooling costs in refrigerated rooms are also reduced.

Nykypäivänä energiansäästötavoitteet ovat haasteena yhä useammalle energiankuluttajalle. Tavoitteisiin päästäkseen yritykset ja kunnalliset energiankuluttajat kaipaavat usein apua kannattavien energiansäätökeinojen löytämiseksi. Erilaiset energiakatselmukset vastaavat tähän tarpeeseen ja ovat esimerkki tuloksellisesta energiansäästöstä. Lappeenrannan teknillinen yliopisto on tutkinut energiatehokkuutta pitkään erilaisissa projekteissa teollisuuden kanssa yhteistyössä. Osa LUT:n energiatehokkuustutkimusta ovat energia-auditoinnit yrityksille ja kunnille, joita LUT Energian projektin puitteissa alettiin kehittää vuoden 2008 syksyllä. Energia-auditointien fokuksena on pyritty pitämään pumppausprosessien energiatehokkuuden optimointia, sillä aihetta on tutkittu yliopistolla laajasti. Pumppausprosesseissa on todettu olevan merkittävä energiansäästöpotentiaali: pumppauksen kuluttamasta energiasta voi olla mahdollista säästää jopa 50 % erilaisilla laite- ja säästötaparatkaisuilla. Pumppausprosessien energia-auditointeja on tehty teollisuuden pumppauskohteisiin kuin myös kunnallisiin vesi-huoltolaitoksiin. Lisäksi energia-auditointien puitteissa on tutkittu energiansäästömahdollisuuksia rakennuksissa. Energiansäästökohteita etsitään sekä lämpö- että sähköenergian osalta. Energia-auditoinneissa pumppausten osalta energiansäästöpotentiaalia on todettu olevan etenkin suuren kokoluokan pumpuissa, joilla on pitkä vuosittainen käyttöaika. Myös pumppujen säätötavalla on suuri merkitys energiankulutukseen. Rakennusten osalta on pyritty selvittämään, kuinka energiankulutus jakautuu eri kulutusryhmien kesken. Säästökohteita on löydetty muun muassa rakennusten tiiviydestä, ilmanvaihdosta kuin valaistuksestakin. Monia auditointien asiakkaita on kiinnostanut etenkin led-teknologian hyödyntäminen yleisvalaistuksessa sekä muut keinot säästää valaistuksen energiankulutuksessa. Pyrkimyksenä on kehittää energia-auditointeja projektin aikana saavutettujen kokemusten avulla sekä myös liiketaloudellisessa mielessä opinnäytetutkielmien avulla. Menestyksekäs palveluliiketoiminta edellyttää määriteltyjä toimintatapoja, riittävän tarkkaa palvelujen rajausta ja koko energia-auditointiprosessin kehittämistä aina asiakassuhteen luomisesta sen jatko-hoitoon saakka.

The increasing power demand and emerging applications drive the design of electrical power converters into modularization. Despite the wide use of modularized power stage structures, the control schemes that are used are often traditional, in other words, centralized. The flexibility and re-usability of these controllers are typically poor. With a dedicated distributed control scheme, the flexibility and re-usability of the system parts, building blocks, can be increased. Only a few distributed control schemes have been introduced for this purpose, but their breakthrough has not yet taken place. A demand for the further development offlexible control schemes for building-block-based applications clearly exists. The control topology, communication, synchronization, and functionality allocationaspects of building-block-based converters are studied in this doctoral thesis. A distributed control scheme that can be easily adapted to building-block-based power converter designs is developed. The example applications are a parallel and series connection of building blocks. The building block that is used in the implementations of both the applications is a commercial off-the-shelf two-level three-phase frequency converter with a custom-designed controller card. The major challenge with the parallel connection of power stages is the synchronization of the building blocks. The effect of synchronization accuracy on the system performance is studied. The functionality allocation and control scheme design are challenging in the seriesconnected multilevel converters, mainly because of the large number of modules. Various multilevel modulation schemes are analyzed with respect to the implementation, and this information is used to develop a flexible control scheme for modular multilevel inverters.

Direct torque control (DTC) is a new control method for rotating field electrical machines. DTC controls directly the motor stator flux linkage with the stator voltage, and no stator current controllers are used. With the DTC method very good torque dynamics can be achieved. Until now, DTC has been applied to asynchronous motor drives. The purpose of this work is to analyse the applicability of DTC to electrically excited synchronous motor drives. Compared with asynchronous motor drives, electrically excited synchronous motor drives require an additional control for the rotor field current. The field current control is called excitation control in this study. The dependence of the static and dynamic performance of DTC synchronous motor drives on the excitation control has been analysed and a straightforward excitation control method has been developed and tested. In the field weakening range the stator flux linkage modulus must be reduced in order to keep the electro motive force of the synchronous motor smaller than the stator voltage and in order to maintain a sufficient voltage reserve. The dynamic performance of the DTC synchronous motor drive depends on the stator flux linkage modulus. Another important factor for the dynamic performance in the field weakening range is the excitation control. The field weakening analysis considers both dependencies. A modified excitation control method, which maximises the dynamic performance in the field weakening range, has been developed. In synchronous motor drives the load angle must be kept in a stabile working area in order to avoid loss of synchronism. The traditional vector control methods allow to adjust the load angle of the synchronous motor directly by the stator current control. In the DTC synchronous motor drive the load angle is not a directly controllable variable, but it is formed freely according to the motor’s electromagnetic state and load. The load angle can be limited indirectly by limiting the torque reference. This method is however parameter sensitive and requires a safety margin between the theoretical torque maximum and the actual torque limit. The DTC modulation principle allows however a direct load angle adjustment without any current control. In this work a direct load angle control method has been developed. The method keeps the drive stabile and allows the maximal utilisation of the drive without a safety margin in the torque limitation.

The objective of the dissertation is to examine organizational responses of public actors to customer requirements which drive the transformation of value networks and promote public-private partnership in the electricity distribution industry and elderly care sectors. The research bridges the concept of offering to value networks where capabilities can be acquired for novel product concepts. The research contributes to recent literature, re-examining theories on interactions of customer requirements and supply management. A critical realist case study approach is applied to this abductive the research which directs to describe causalities in the analyzed phenomena. The presented evidence is based on three sources, which are in-depth interviews, archival analysis and the Delphi method. Service provision requires awareness on technology and functionalities of offering. Moreover, service provision includes interactions of multiple partners, which suggests the importance of the co-operative orientation of actors. According to the findings,portfolio management has a key role when intelligent solutions are implemented in public service provision because its concepts involve a variety of resources from multiple suppliers. However, emergent networks are not functional if they lack leaders who have access to the customer interface, have power to steer networks and a capability to build offerings. Public procurement policies were recognized to focus on a narrow scope in which price is a key factor in decisions. In the future, the public sector has to implement technology strategies and portfolio management, which mean longterm platform development and commitment to partnerships. On the other hand, the service providers should also be more aware of offerings into which their products will be integrated in the future. This requires making the customer’s voice in product development and co-operation in order to increase the interconnectivity of products.

Jatkuvasti kiristyvät päästörajoitukset ajavat eri alojen energiatuottajia kehittämään uusia ratkaisuja päästöjen pienentämiseksi. Viime aikoina myös laivojen päästörajoituksia on tiukennettu ja tulevaisuudessa niitä tullaan tiukentamaan lisää. Nämä tiukentuvat päästörajoitukset asettavat myös laivan dieselmoottoreiden valmistajat uusien haasteiden eteen. Yhtenä vaihtoehtona on lisätä dieselmoottorin rinnalle energiavarasto, joka vähentää dieselmoottorin päästöjä varsinkin nopeissa kuormituksen muutoksissa. Tässä diplomityössä tarkastellaan sähköisten energiavarastojen mitoitusta laivan sähköjärjestelmään. Energiavarastot mitoitetaan useaan eri toimintatilanteeseen. Mitoituksen lisäksi pohditaan energiavarastoilla saatavaa mahdollista rahallista hyötyä sekä päästöjen vähenemistä.
