Marketing of fire suppression systems: customer value and institutional aspects

The paper studied marketing of automatic fire suppression systems from the perspectives of customer value and institutions. The object of the study was research the special features of the sales and marketing of fire suppression systems, and find some practical applications for sales, and for lobbying of a new fire suppression technology. The theoretical background of the study was in the customer value literature and the theoretical concept of institutional entrepreneurship. The research was conducted as an electronic survey for three different groups of respondents; end customers, solution integrators, and re-sellers. From the answers was gathered generalisations about the customer value assessment and communication of the value related to the sales and marketing processes of the fire suppression systems. In addition, there was observed manners to receive information about the systems, and effects caused by institutions to the decision making of the different parties involved. The findings of the study support companies that are launching a new safety technology to the market focus their marketing, and help to understand institutional forces that are affecting to a safety related product.

Tuotekehitysprosessin alkupään järjestäminen pelialan yrityksessä

Tämän diplomityön tarkoitus on rakentaa mobiilipeliyritykselle tuotekehitysprosessin alkupään prosessi tuotekehityksen tehostamiseksi. Toimialan dynaamisuudesta ja hyperkilpailullisuudesta johtuen sekä projektien abstraktin luonteen takia tulee mobiilipelikehitysyritysten erityisesti panostaa tuotekehityksen alkuvaiheisiin. Työ tutkii yleisiä tuotekehityksen periaatteita sekä yleisiä olemassaolevia tuotekehitysprosesseja. Tarkastelun kohteena ovat erityisesti innovatiivinen organisaatio ja benchmarking tuotekehityksen apuna. Yleisesti tuotekehitysprosesseista tutustutaan yleisimpiin malleihin, jotka ovat olleet valtavirran käytössä jo pitkään. Prosessien tarkastelun lisäksi niitä tutkitaan kriittisesti ja löydetään osa-alueita, joihin tulee keskittyä erityisesti tuotekehitysprosessin alkupään järjestämisessä. Lisäksi työssä paneudutaan alan menestyneiden yritysten toimintatapoihin, joista haetaan oppia rakennettavaan malliin. Työssä käsitellään myös toimialan ominaispiirteitä, joista johtuen perinteiset tuotekehitysprosessit eivät ole optimaalisia alalle. Työn tuloksena saadaan virtaviivainen prosessimalli, joka maksimoi luovuuden, mutta säästää resursseja ja luo selkeät linjat prosessin läpivientiin. Rakennettuun malliin pohditaan myös kehitysehdotuksia, ja sille on laadittu kevyt jatkokehityssuunnitelma. Malli menee suoraan yrityksen käyttöön, joten lopullinen malli tulee myös hioutumaan tuotekehitysprojektien edetessä. Työssä on erityistä se, että työn tekijä on toiminut alalla työtehtävissä, ja malli on hioutunut pitkän ajan kuluessa. Täten suuri osa työstä on tekijän hiljaisen tiedon avaamista ja pohtimista.

Iron(III) as Lewis acid catalyst in organosilicon and carbonyl chemistry

Iron is one of the most common elements in the earth’s crust and thus its availability and economic viability far exceed that of metals commonly used in catalysis. Also the toxicity of iron is miniscule, compared to the likes of platinum and nickel, making it very desirable as a catalyst. Despite this, prior to the 21st century, the applicability of iron in catalysis was not thoroughly investigated, as it was considered to be inefficient and unselective in desired transformations. In this doctoral thesis, the application of iron catalysis in combination with organosilicon reagents for transformations of carbonyl compounds has been investigated together with insights into iron catalyzed chlorination of silanes and silanols. In the first part of the thesis, the synthetic application of iron(III)-catalyzed chlorination of silanes (Si-H) and the monochlorination of silanes (SiH2) using acetyl chloride as the chlorine source is described. The reactions proceed under ambient conditions, although some compounds need to be protected from excess moisture. In addition, the mechanism and kinetics of the chlorination reaction are briefly adressed. In the second part of this thesis a versatile methodology for transformation of carbonyl compounds into three different compound classes by changing the conditions and amounts of reagents is discussed. One pot reductive benzylation, reductive halogenation and reductive etherification of ketones and aldehydes using silanes as the reducing agent, halide source or cocatalyst, were investigated. Also the reaction kinetics and mechanism of the reductive halogenation of acetophenone are briefly discussed.

Työvoimakoulutusraportti Pirkanmaa 2015 – Seuranta- ja ennakointitietoa työvoimakoulutuksen suunnitteluun on Pirkanmaan elinkeino-, liikenne- ja ympäristökeskuksen Koulutus- ja kehittämispalvelut –ryhmän sekä Ramboll Management Consulting Oy:n yhteistyössä laatima selvitys ammattialojen ja työllisyyden kehitysnäkymistä. Raportti toimii työvoimakoulutuksen suunnittelun tukena tarjoten seurantatietoa Pirkanmaalla järjestetystä työvoimakoulutuksesta. Lisäksi raportti kokoaa yhteen ennakointitietoa ja ennusteita toimialojen ja ammattien tulevaisuudesta.

Sellulaasit ja niiden käyttö teollisuudessa

Kandidaatintyön kirjallisuuskatsauksessa esitellään selluloosan entsymaattisen hydrolyysin toimintamekanismi ja kerrotaan sellulaasien käytöstä aiheutuvista eduista ja haitoista eri teollisuussovelluksissa.
