This report describes how Iowa compares to other states in the nation. To promote consistency, the Iowa totals and the other states’ information have been taken entirely from the FBI’s national publication called Crime in the United States; 1999. The Iowa information in Crime in the United States; 1999 is based upon actual summary totals for selected reporting jurisdictions and produced by the U.S. Department of Justice, F.B.I. These Iowa totals cannot be compared to the 1999 Incident-Based Iowa Uniform Crime Reports, which are based on actual totals for all reporting Iowa law enforcement jurisdictions.

The Iowa EDI Implementation Guide is designed to help any individuals or businesses understand and implement the IAIABC’s Release 2 EDI package. In order to process workers’ compensation claims in Iowa after July 1, 2001, that information will have to be exchanged using EDI as the IAIABC and State of Iowa have standardized. The report is designed to provide a supplemental analysis of the information presented in Tables 5-19 (pp. 16-37) referenced in the publication titled Iowa's Adult Basic Education Program Annual Benchmark Report: Program Year 2002. The original data source for Tables 1-7 is from Iowa’s National Reporting System (NRS) report Tables 4B and 5 and the publication titled Iowa’s Community College Basic Literacy Skills Credential Program: Program Year 2002. (See Appendix B of Iowa’s Adult Basic Education Program Annual Benchmark Report: Program Year 2002, [pp. 54-55] and Iowa’s Community College Basic Literacy Skills Credential Program Annual Report: Program Year 2002 Tables 1-2 [pp. 6-7]).

The 2005-2006 (FY06) edition of Iowa Public Library Statistics includes information on income, expenditures, collections, circulation, and other measures, including staff. Each section is arranged by size code, then alphabetically by city. The totals and percentiles for each size code grouping are given immediately following the alphabetical listings. Totals for all reporting libraries are given at the end of each section. There are 542 libraries included in this publication; 10 did not report. The Table of Cities and Size Codes lists the libraries alphabetically and gives their size codes. The table allows a user of this publication to locate information about a specific library. The following table lists the size code designations, the population range in each size code, the number of libraries reporting in each size code, and the total population of the reporting libraries in each size code. The total population of the 542 libraries is 2,243,396. Population data is used to determine per capita figures used throughout the publication.

The following table lists the size code designations, the population range in each size code, the number of libraries reporting in each size code, and the total population of the reporting libraries in each size code. The total population served by the 543 libraries is 2,248,279. Population data is used to determine per capita figures throughout the publication.
