Contracts listed in this summary are shown in alphabetical order by contractor within the county. Interdepartmental Agreements with state government agencies are at the back of the listing. Each page is divided into eight columns which identify the following: column 1: the county of the contractor; column 2: the contractor; column 3: the contract number; column 4: the contract title; column 5: the contract amount; column 6: the funding source; column 7: the start date of the contract and column 8: the end date of the contract.

Overview of the State Mental Health Institutes, August 24th, 2009

Iowa’s four Mental Health Institutes (MHIs), located in Cherokee, Clarinda, Independence and Mount Pleasant, provide critical access to quality acute psychiatric care for Iowa’s adults and children needing mental health treatment, and provide specialized mental health related services. The specialized services include substance abuse treatment, dual diagnosis treatment for persons with mental illness and substance addiction, psychiatric medical institution for children (PMIC), and long-term psychiatric care for the elderly (geropsychiatric).

Family Development and Self-Sufficiency 2011 Annual Report, 2011

Iowa’s Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) Grant Program was created by the 1988 Iowa General Assembly to assist Family Investment Program (FIP) families with significant or multiple barriers reach self-sufficiency. FaDSS provides services that promote, empower, and nurture families toward economic and emotional self-sufficiency.

The 2008 general assembly acknowledged in House File 2539, Section 70 that is recognizes direct care workers play a vital role and make a valuable contribution to Iowa's Health Care Reform efforts in providing care to Iowans with a variety of needs in both institutional and home and community based settings. the legislation identified that recruiting and retaining highly competent direct care workers is a challenge across all healthcare employment settings.
