Tax Credits Contingent Liabilities Brief March 17, 2009

The Tax Credits Contingent Liabilities Report was created by the Tax Research and Program Analysis Section of the Iowa Department of Revenue (IDR) for the benefit of the Revenue Estimating Conference (REC). This report is part of the Tax Credits Tracking and Analysis Program. The goal of the program is to provide a repository for information concerning the awarding, usage, and effectiveness of tax credits. This report forecasts tax credit claims assuming that all available awarded credits are issued and then, along with forecasted credits, are subsequently claimed.

Anadvanced foods economy is under development in the state of Iowa that builds on Iowa’s established strengths in plant and animal sciences,production agriculture, food science, nutrition, and processing technology. This new pathway was identified when Battelle Institute studied Iowa’s strengths in the biosciences and recommended six technology platforms as opportunities to use these strengths for growing the economy. One of those technology platforms is functional foods, sometimes called nutraceuticals.

Iowa first in ethanol Iowa is now the largest ethanol-producing state in America, according to the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, with 864 million gallons of production capacity. Fourteen facilities now produce ethanol in Iowa, and nine more plants are planned or under construction. This burgeoning renewable fuels industry continues to spread through the state of Iowa.

Federal Highway Administration Finding of No Significant Impact Collins Road NE (Highway 100) Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa, December 17, 2009

The proposed project consists of improving approximately 2.6 miles of Collins Road NE (Highway 100) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The project extends from the intersection of Center Point Road to approximately 750 feet east of its intersection with 1st Avenue.
