Summary Report for the Iowa Alzheimer's Task Force 2007 from the Iowa Alzheimer's Disease Demonstration Projects

The Iowa Department of Elder Affairs, in collaboration with the University of Iowa College of Nursing, has been engaged in developing and evaluating community based services for persons with dementia in the state of Iowa over the past 7 years under a grant form the Administration on Aging. This grant tested out several models of care (dementia nurse care manager, memory loss nurse specialist, “People Living Alone Need Support” (PLANS), varying models of respite care), surveyed agencies and service providers in regard to how they provide services for persons with dementia, and provided training to case management, community college instructors, adult day service providers and other related services providers including assisted living and nursing home facilities.

Iowa Department of Transportation Fiscal Year 2008 Report of Savings by Using Video Conferencing Through Iowa Communications Network to the Iowa General Assembly Pursuant to Iowa Code § II 84 Acts and Joint Resolutions Enacted at the 1994 Regular Session of the 75th General Assembly of the State of Iowa Iowa Code §8D.10 Report of Savings by State Agencies

Iowa Code § 8D.10 requires certain state agencies prepare an annual report to the General Assembly certifying the identified savings associated with that state agency’s use of the Iowa Communications Network (ICN). This report covers estimated cost savings related to video conferencing via ICN for the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT). In FY 2008, the DOT did not conduct any sessions utilizing ICN’s video conferencing system. Therefore, no cost savings were calculated for this report.

S.F. 376 - Report on Status of Projects - Bridge Safety Fund

Pursuant to section 34, subsection 1 of S.R. 376 passed by the 2010 session of the 83rd Iowa General Assembly, please find attached the report on the status of all bridge projects, completed or in progress, that were funded with the Bridge Safety Fund established by S.F. 376.

Iowa Department of Transportation’s summary of project status for infrastructure projects

Per legislative requirement, attached is the Iowa Department of Transportation’s summary of project status for infrastructure projects that have been appropriated revenue from various funds including Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure, Health Restricted Capitals, Bridge Safety, Revenue Bonds Capitals, and Revenue Bonds Capitals II. Although a status report for the Bridge Safety Fund was already submitted to the directors of LSA and DOM, a status report on those projects is also included within this attachment for consistency with last year’s reporting. In addition, per request from LSA, status reports for the FY 2011 passenger rail appropriation from the Underground Storage Tank Fund and the FY 2010 Commercial Service Vertical Infrastructure appropriation from the General Fund are also listed in this report.

Interim Guide for Optimum Joint Performance of Concrete Pavements, September 2011

The purpose of this guide is to help practitioners understand how to optimize concrete pavement joint performance through the identification, mitigation, and prevention of joint deterioration. It summarizes current knowledge from research and practice to help practitioners access the latest knowledge and implement proven techniques. Emphasizing that water is the common factor in most premature joint deterioration, this guide describes various types of joint deterioration that can occur. Some distresses are caused by improper joint detailing or construction, and others can be attributed to inadequate materials or proportioning. D cracking is a form of joint distress that results from the use of poor-quality aggregates. A particular focus in this guide is joint distress due to freeze-thaw action. Numerous factors are at play in the occurrence of this distress, including the increased use of a variety of deicing chemicals and application strategies. Finally, this guide provides recommendations for minimizing the potential for joint deterioration, along with recommendations for mitigation practices to slow or stop the progress of joint deterioration.
