This conference and training facility was established in recognition of a need for a space that unites working professionals, students, educators, community business partners and other community members in a cultivating environment dedicated to environmental and public health stewardship. The CALS is located within the State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa (SHL) and is comprised of a conference center and training laboratory. The Hygienic Laboratory has a rich history as a national leader in public health education and training and through the CALS. The SHL aims to provide training to the current workforce, recruit the workforce of tomorrow and strengthen community engagement
