Chronic Disease Connections, April 2015

IDPH has a new grant-funded program, the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Control Partnership. This publication, Chronic Disease Connections, will be part of the communication strategy between IDPH staff and healthcare system providers throughout the state as we partner to help patients control their diabetes and high blood pressure. This is just one of the major objectives for the funding. The CDC would like to see that more patients are aware that they have pre-diabetes, diabetes or high blood pressure and that health systems are maximizing evidence-based strategies to assist patients with achieving control. Over the coming months you will hear more about the new program and how you can become involved.

During the 2010 legislative session, House File 2531, Fiscal Year 2011 Standing Appropriations Act, was enacted and required school districts to report the specific use of sales tax dollars for school infrastructure purposes to the Department of Education. The Department published SAVE SILO annual report reflecting data for fiscal year 2011. This issue review provides a summary and additional analysis of that information.

Each year, IEDA’s contract compliance team compiles a report of the status of each business project awarded or under contract. The FY14 annual report measures status and progress of projects awarded since 2003 and tracked by the compliance team. Within this version of the report, the projects are grouped by status. Within this version of the report, the projects are first grouped by the county in which they were awarded and subcategorized according to their status. Below is an explanation for each status as well as an explanation on how they appear within the report.

Iowa Drug Control Strategy, 2015

The purpose of the strategy is to describe the activities of the office and other state departments related to drug enforcement, substance abuse treatment and prevention. This report also highlights trends in respect to substance abuse within the state and sets out innovative approaches to reduce drug abuse and its associated damage to society. Finally, the Strategy shows the state funding levels for the various agencies working in this area, as divided among the three areas of emphasis: prevention, treatment and enforcement.
