The Audit Commission and Healthcare Commission have jointly published 'Are we choosing health? The impact of policy on the delivery of health improvement programmes and services'. The report assesses the impact government policy has had over the past decade on: narrowing health inequalities; improving sexual and mental health; and reducing smoking, alcohol misuse and obesity.

Linx Project Meals on Wheels

Our Project provides a Meals on Wheels delivery Service and a Drop in Centre five days per week.  We provide a three course meal which is made from only fresh local produce.  All soup, breads, desserts etc. are homemade. Our dinner consists of homemade soup & brown bread, Meat/Fish, two vegetables with potatoes and a dessert for €3.50.  Clients who come into our Drop in Centre avail of free tea/ coffee and biscuits throughout the day.   Initiative Type Community Food Centres Meals on Wheels Location Dublin 9 Target Groups Older people Funding HSE and Dept. Portglenone Enterprise Group (PEG)

PEG and the pharmacist have been working through BCPP projects for a few years and have worked with a range of groups (young and older people) on a range of health issues. This project seeks to continue to build on this work. The lay health worker will be present in the pharmacy and more emphasis will be placed on co-delivery with young people and in schools. Relationships with young vulnerable and isolated teenagers are developing and the pharmacist will continue to engage with them to identify and work to tackle health issues they are facing.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening Programme annual report

This inaugural annual report for the Northern Ireland Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening Programme (produced jointly by the Public Health Agency and the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust) looks back on a successful first year for the programme. The Public Health Agency (PHA) is responsible for commissioning and quality assuring the programme. The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust is responsible for providing and managing the programme.Following significant planning, AAA screening was introduced on time in June 2012, as required by the Government's 'Priorities for Action' target. There is no doubt that this was due to sustained partnership working across a wide range of health and social care services within Northern Ireland.

Time to Move On from Congregated Settings: A Strategy for Community Inclusion

19.6.2011 I am pleased to present the Report of the Working Group on Congregated Settings, which is the outcome and culmination of a very significant piece of data capture, research and analysis. The Report was initiated by the Primary, Community and Community Care Directorate in 2007 to develop a national plan and associated change programme for moving people from congregated settings to the community in line with Government policy.
