The Department and its family of organisations made explicit their commitment to undertake on an annual basis a joint consult on the Region-Wide Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) programme, to take account of changing priorities and circumstances and to roll it forward one year. To inform this process, the Department developed a set of Key Factors and Guiding Principles based on those set down by the Equality Commission.

Paragraph 3.21 of the Department’s Equality Scheme contains a commitment to conduct an annual review of progress made in implementing the arrangements specified in its equality scheme and in complying with statutory duties. This annual review report will be forwarded to the Equality Commission to assist it in compiling its own Annual Report, as required by sub paragraph 5(1) (b) of schedule 8 to the Act. The Department will also continue to liase with the Equality Commission with a view to ensuring that progress is maintained. åÊ åÊ

The Inquiry is of the view that the Terms of Reference are wide ranging and comprehensive. The issue of organ retention is not one which may be examined properly in isolation and involves consideration of many issues, most notably the legal context within which the matters arise. Implementation of Recommendations of the Commission on Nursing – Third Annual Progress Report of the Monitoring Committee This is the third annual report of the Monitoring Committee established by the Minister for Health and Children to oversee progress in the implementation of the recommendations contained in the Report of the Commission on Nursing A Blueprint for the Future. It outlines the further progress made during 2002 in achieving targets set out in the Priority Action Plan for 2002 and 2003 agreed between the Department of Health and Children and the Nursing Alliance. The focus of this first annual report is on the progress made during 2000 in implementing the recommendations contained in the priority Action Plan. However, the Monitoring Committee acknowledges that certain other key recommendations of the Commission were implemented in 1998/1999.
