The publication of this report fulfils a commitment made by the Department of Health and Social Services to produce a summary of the responses which it received to the Fit for the Future consultation paper, which invited views on the future of the health and personal social services in Northern Ireland. The report has been prepared following a careful examination of all the responses received during the consultation exercise. It attempts to summarise the comments and åÊviews offered on the extensive range of issues which were raised in the consultation paper. Every effort has been made to ensure that this is an objective summary of the responses, without any further interpretation, colouring or qualification by the Department.

Review of Roles & Responsibilities of the Food Safety Promotion Board (FSPB/SafeFood)

The Department carried out a review during 2012 on FSPB’s work in the food safety, diet and nutrition areas. This review, approved by the Minister on 25 January 2013, provides a summary of the responses received and recommendations made. Click here to download   PDF 63KB  

National Strategy on Dementia Summary of Consultation Process

The Programme for Government gives a commitment to develop a National Strategy on Dementia by 2013 which will increase awareness, ensure early diagnosis and intervention, and enhance community based services for people living with this condition. During 2012, following the completion of the Research Review in preparation for the National Strategy, the Department carried out a public consultation to inform its development.
