Report of Working Group set up by the Tanaiste in March 2006 to examine the nature and extent of Haemochromatosis in Ireland and to advise her on the action necessary to address the problems caused by Haemochromatosis

It was agreed at a meeting on 15th February, 2006, between Ms Mary Harney, TD, Tanaiste and Minister for Health and Children and Dr Maurice Manning that a Working Group would be set up to examine all of the issues relating to haemochromatosis in Ireland and to advise her on the actions necessary to address these issues. Corporate governance is the system by which organisations direct and control their functions and relate to their stakeholders in order to manage their business, achieve their mission and objectives and meet the necessary standards of accountability, integrity and propriety. It is a key element in improving efficiency and accountability as well as enhancing openness and transparency. A significant element of the Governmentâ?Ts programme for health service reform is the strengthening of governance and accountability arrangements across the health system. Minority report by the Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland

The Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland (ABFI) is the umbrella organisation for drinks industry manufacturers and suppliers. ABFI works to promote and support an environment that encourages the sustainable and responsible development of the alcohol beverage manufacturing sector in Ireland. The Irish drinks industry is a major national industry providing over 60,000 direct and indirect jobs, generating approximately â,¬2 billion in excise and VAT revenues for the State, and supporting some of Irelandâ?Ts most successful international export products. 2004 National report to the EMCDDA by the Reitox National Focal Point: Norway: New developments, trends and in-depth information on selected issues.

This is the fourth annual report to the EMCDDA from the Norwegian Institute for Alcohol and Drug Research (SIRUS) on the drugs situation in Norway. The report has been drawn up in accordance with the new reporting guidelines introduced by the EMCDDA this year. We have endeavoured to follow these as consistently as possible, with the main focus on “new developments” and substantial changes in epidemiology, legislation and organisation. To allow readers to obtain more background information the report contains a number of references to the national report for 2003, and occasional references to the report for 2002.This resource was contributed by The National Documentation Centre on Drug Use.
