Framework Agreement between the Minister for Health and the Irish Medical Organisation in respect of a process for engagement concerning the GMS/GP Contract

Minister of State with responsibility for Primary Care, Alex White TD, today (4 June 2014) concluded a series of meetings with the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) with the signing of the Framework Agreement between the Minister of Health, the HSE and the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) setting out a process for engagement concerning the GMS/GP contract and other publicly funded contracts involving General Practitioners (GPs). Garden to Plate

North Tipperary Food Partnership aims to improve access to healthy food and build community and skills through food growing initiatives. `The Garden to Plate` project was set up as part of Nenagh Community Allotments, a voluntary group who lease a site privately containing up to 20 allotments and a communal green house. The North Tipperary VEC Community Education and Back to Education Initiative Projects rent two allotments from NCA offering a certified learning opportunity and generating a space for the wider benefits of learning. The adults engaged are mainly men both recently and long term unemployed with a range of skills and experiences. A small study has been conducted with participants to identify feedback on skills and knowledge gained including those related to health and nutrition. A report is available. Development of a National English Language Policy and Framework for Legally Resident Adult Immigrants - Horwath Report

The Office of the Minister for Integration (OMI), in conjunction with the Department of Education and Science (DES), commissioned an independent review to assist in the development of a national English Language policy and framework for legally-resident adult immigrants. Horwath Consulting Ireland, in association with Rambll Management and Matrix Knowledge Group, were awarded the contract to undertake this assignment. The terms of reference for the assignment state that: “proposed future developments will be governed by a clear strategy which reflects the importance of English language tuition in overall integration objectives and which addresses key coordination, technical, funding and service-delivery issues."
