Report of National Health Strategy Consultative Forum 2nd December 2005

The National Health Strategy Consultative Forum took place on 2nd December 2005 in Dublin Castle. This was the fourth National Forum and it was chaired by Dr. John Bowman. Cultural male circumcision - Report of Committee 2004/2005

Male circumcision is performed for two general reasons namely where there are medical indications or for cultural requirements. The tragic death of a male infant following a circumcision performed outside the health-care setting highlighted the need to provide recommendations for health-care providers to help prevent such circumstances arising again. The Minister for Health and Children established a group to advise on the needs, ethical recommendations and practical guidance on circumcision performed for cultural reasons. Report of the Working Group on Post Mortem Practice

The Madden Report into Post Mortem Practice and Procedure (2005)1 stated that consideration should be given to the implementation of the recommendations made in the Report to other post mortems2, namely those carried out on babies who died before or during birth, minors and adults. It was acknowledged that while many of the recommendations in the Report may apply generically to all categories of post-mortem examinations, these post mortems also raise distinct legal and ethical issues that were not within the Terms of Reference of the Madden Report. The Report advised that a Working Group be established to ensure that appropriate adaptation in relation to those issues takes place. The terms of reference were: Read the report (PDF, 117kb)

Improving Quality of Life for Older People in Long-Stay Care Settings in Ireland

The quality of life of older people in all care settings is a primary concern of the National Council on Ageing and Older People (NCAOP); a concern echoed by the National Economic and Social Forum (NESF) in its recent report Care for Older Peoplein which it stated that â?~enhancing quality of life of older people in different settings should be a key policy priorityâ?T (NESF, 2005). Report of Working Group set up by the Tanaiste in March 2006 to examine the nature and extent of Haemochromatosis in Ireland and to advise her on the action necessary to address the problems caused by Haemochromatosis

It was agreed at a meeting on 15th February, 2006, between Ms Mary Harney, TD, Tanaiste and Minister for Health and Children and Dr Maurice Manning that a Working Group would be set up to examine all of the issues relating to haemochromatosis in Ireland and to advise her on the actions necessary to address these issues. Social Inclusion of Older People at Local Level:The Role and Contribution of the CDBs - Conference Proceedings

This is a publication of The National Council on Ageing and Older People The Conference took place on October 3, 2005 . It attracted almost 250 delegates from across the statutory, voluntary and private sectors, and from every county. The Conference provided the opportunity for delegates to focus on the issue of social inclusion of older people at local level and the challenges it presents.
