Hearing Disability Assessment - Report of the Expert Hearing Group

In November 1997, the Department of Health and Children established an expert group to examine and make recommendations on an appropriate system and criteria for the assessment of hearing disability arising from hearing loss, with particular reference to noise induced hearing loss. The group was to prepare a report for the Minister for Health and Children. Download the Report here

National Physical and Sensory Disability Database - information pack

The need for information on the service needs of people with physical and/or sensory disabilities was first highlighted in Shaping a Healthier Future: A strategy for Effective Healthcare in the 1990s.  This strategy document identified the establishment of a national database as the means of gathering such information.  Subsequently, the report of the Review Group on Health and Personal Social Services for People with Physical and Sensory Disabilities, Towards an Independent Future, identified the lack of reliable information on the numbers of people with a physical and/or sensory disability needing a health and personal social service and their precise service needs. The Quality of Life of Older People with a Disability in Ireland

The Quality of Life of Older People with a Disability in Ireland For many years the National Council on Ageing and Older People (NCAOP) has advocated the importance of meaningful consultation with older people in order to inform public policy and facilitate the development of services to meet their needs. This research study was commissioned to present a picture of quality of life in older age for people with a disability in Ireland and was grounded in consultation with them. Report of Disability Policy Review

In order to inform the work of the Value for Money (VFM) Review of Disability Services, an Expert Reference Group was established comprising representatives from the DoH and HSE, disability agencies and representative groups. The Group conducted an extensive policy review and its Report is here. Housing Strategy for People with a Disability 2011-2016 National Implementation Framework The Government's National Housing Strategy for People with a Disability was published in October 2011 by the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government and the Department of Health. The strategy covers the period to 2016 and outlines the broad proposals and strategic objectives involved in effectively addressing the housing and related support needs of people with disabilities. Value for Money and Policy Review of Disability Services in Ireland - National Implementation Framework

The National Implementation Framework describes how the recommendations from the Value for Money (VFM) and Policy Review of the Disability Services Programme will be translated into concrete actions. It assigns responsibilities for those actions, and specifies timelines for their completion. It also identifies priorities and key performance indicators.
