Background: Excessive mediastinal shift into the vacated thoracic cavity after pneumonectomy can result in dyspnea without hypoxemia by compression of the tracheobronchial tree, a phenomenon called postpneumonectomy syndrome. More rarely hypoxemia in upright position (platypnea-orthodeoxia syndrome, POS) after pneumonectomy can result from re-opening of an atrial right-to-left shunt through a patent foramen ovale (PFO) due to mediastinal distorsion. Review of literature also shows a unique report of pulmonary veins stenosis resulting in POS without intracardiac shunt after pneumonectomy. Methods: We report the case of a 32-year-old woman who presented POS 6 months after right pneumonectomy for destroyed lung post tuberculosis. Results: The patient described severe dyspnea disappearing when lying. SpO2 decreased from 94% when lying to 60% sitting. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) suspected a possible PFO. We first tried to highlight clinical repercussions of PFO by noninvasive exams. Hyperoxia shunt quantification was not tolerated because of increased dyspnea in sitting position. Contrast bubbles TTE was difficult because of the important mediastinal shift but identified only rare left heart bubbles with/without Valsalva both in lying and sitting position, excluding a significant right-to-left shunt. A lung perfusion scintigraphy (injection while sitting) confirmed the absence of systemic isotope uptake. Computed tomographic pulmonary angiography (angio-CT) revealed a stretched but not stenosed left main bronchus, while the shift of the heart into the right cavity was major. Pulmonary angiography did not show embolism but revealed compression of the inferior vena cava (IVC) with impaired venous return to the right heart, as well as compression of the left pulmonary veins. There was no arteriovenous shunt. Cardiac MRI showed torsion of IVC at the level of the diaphragm, and strong atrial contraction contributing to a passive filling of the RV, while the right ventricle was normal. Right catheterism showed major hemodynamic disturbances with negative diastolic pressure in right heart cavities (atrium -12 mm Hg ventricle pressure -7 mm Hg). SaO2 measured in the pulmonary artery decreased from 58% when lying to 45% sitting. Conclusion: We described here an exceedingly rare and complex mechanism explaining POS after right pneumonectomy. Mediastinal repositioning with a silicone breast implant of appropriate size has been scheduled.

BACKGROUND: Aromatase inhibitors provide superior disease control when compared with tamoxifen as adjuvant therapy for postmenopausal women with endocrine-responsive early breast cancer. PURPOSE: To present the design, history, and analytic challenges of the Breast International Group (BIG) 1-98 trial: an international, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, phase-III study comparing the aromatase inhibitor letrozole with tamoxifen in this clinical setting. METHODS: From 1998-2003, BIG 1-98 enrolled 8028 women to receive monotherapy with either tamoxifen or letrozole for 5 years, or sequential therapy of 2 years of one agent followed by 3 years of the other. Randomization to one of four treatment groups permitted two complementary analyses to be conducted several years apart. The first, reported in 2005, provided a head-to-head comparison of letrozole versus tamoxifen. Statistical power was increased by an enriched design, which included patients who were assigned sequential treatments until the time of the treatment switch. The second, reported in late 2008, used a conditional landmark approach to test the hypothesis that switching endocrine agents at approximately 2 years from randomization for patients who are disease-free is superior to continuing with the original agent. RESULTS: The 2005 analysis showed the superiority of letrozole compared with tamoxifen. The patients who were assigned tamoxifen alone were unblinded and offered the opportunity to switch to letrozole. Results from other trials increased the clinical relevance about whether or not to start treatment with letrozole or tamoxifen, and analysis plans were expanded to evaluate sequential versus single-agent strategies from randomization. LIMITATIONS: Due to the unblinding of patients assigned tamoxifen alone, analysis of updated data will require ascertainment of the influence of selective crossover from tamoxifen to letrozole. CONCLUSIONS: BIG 1-98 is an example of an enriched design, involving complementary analyses addressing different questions several years apart, and subject to evolving analytic plans influenced by new data that emerge over time.

Aujourd'hui plus que jamais, le développement économique ne peut se faire au détriment de notre environnement naturel. Dès lors se pose la question de savoir comment parvenir à maintenir la compétitivité d'une économie, tout en tenant compte de l'impact qu'elle a sur révolution du cadre naturel. La présente recherche propose d'investiguer sur la question en se penchant sur les politiques publiques de promotion économique, et plus spécifiquement sur la politique régionale. Faut-il maintenir la confiance dans les courants néoclassiques, comme le laisse supposer la situation actuelle, renforcer la position d'une économie s'inscrivant au sein d'un cadre socio-environnemental ou encore repenser notre mode de fonctionnement économique quant à son développement ? Dans le cas présent, la politique régionale suisse est évaluée à la lumière de trois stratégies de développement économique. D'une part, il y a l'économie fondée sur la connaissance. Cette dernière est à la base de la philosophie actuelle en matière de politique régionale. Ensuite, il y a l'écologie industrielle, qui pour sa part fait la promesse d'un développement économique éco-compatible. Enfin, la troisième stratégie est celle de l'économie de fonctionnalité, qui propose de maximiser l'efficience d'une unité de matière première en limitant notamment la notion de propriété. Au travers d'une grille d'analyse construite sur le modèle des géographies de la grandeur, les trois stratégies sont confrontées aux objectifs de la nouvelle politique régionale suisse (NPR) ainsi qu'à ses modalités de mise en oeuvre. Il en ressort qu'en l'état actuel, la stratégie misant sur l'économie de la connaissance est la plus à même de relever le défi d'un développement économique durable. Toutefois, moyennant adaptations, les autres stratégies pourraient également se révéler être pertinentes. On constate notamment que les éléments clés sont ici l'innovation, ainsi que les dimensions spatiale et temporelle des stratégies. Nous recommandons dès lors d'adopter une approche territorialisée du développement économique, selon une logique de projet au sens de Boltanski & Chiapello. A notre sens, seules les propositions à même de fédérer les acteurs et disposant d'une vision intégrée du développement ont une chance de permettre un développement économique en harmonie avec notre cadre environnemental. - Today more than ever, economic development can't go ahead without consideration for our natural environment. This lays us with the question of how to maintain the competitiveness of an economy, and at the same time to manage the impact of it on the natural frame. This research aims to investigate this question through public policies fostering economy, more specifically through the regional policy. Must one trust the neo-classical way, as the actual situation let's think about it, reinforce the position of an economy within a socio- environmental frame or moreover reinvent our economical modus regarding development? In this case, an assessment of the Swiss regional policy is lead through three strategies of economic development. First, there is the knowledge economy. It is the core concept of the actual philosophy regarding regional policy. Second, there is the industrial ecology which aims to promote an eco-compatible economic development. Last, there is the functional economy, which proposes to maximize the efficiency of every used unit of natural resources by limiting in particular the notion of propriety. Through an analytic frame built on the model of geographies of greatness (géographies de la grandeuή, the three strategies are confronted to the objectives of the Swiss new regional policy (NRP) as well as its implementation. It turns out that actually, the strategy laying on the knowledge economy happens to be the best solution in order to promote a sustainable economic development. Nevertheless, with few adaptations, the other strategies could be pregnant as well. What we can see is that key- elements are here the innovation, as well as the spatial and temporal dimensions of these strategies. We recommend therefore to adopt a territorialised approach of economic development, with a project-based logic as meant by Boltanski & Chiapello. We are convinced that only propositions which are able to unit actors, and with an integrated point of view, have a chance to promote economic development in harmony with our environmental frame.

BACKGROUND: Diastolic dysfunction with delayed relaxation and abnormal passive elastic properties has been described in patients with severe pressure overload hypertrophy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the time course of rotational motion of the left ventricle in patients with aortic valve stenosis using myocardial tagging. METHODS: Myocardial tagging is a non-invasive method based on magnetic resonance which makes it possible to label ('tag') specific myocardial regions. From the motion of the tag's cardiac rotation, radial displacement and translational motion can be determined. In 12 controls and 13 patients with severe aortic valve stenosis systolic and diastolic wall motion was assessed in an apical and basal short axis plane. RESULTS: The normal left ventricle performs a systolic wringing motion around the ventricular long axis with clockwise rotation at the base (-4.4+/-1.6 degrees) and counter-clockwise rotation at the apex (+6.8+/-2.5 degrees) when viewed from the apex. During early diastole an untwisting motion can be observed which precedes diastolic filling. In patients with aortic valve stenosis systolic rotation is reduced at the base (-2.4+/-2.0 degrees; P<0.01) but increased at the apex (+12.0+/-6.0 degrees; P<0.05). Diastolic untwisting is delayed and prolonged with a decrease in normalized rotation velocity (-6.9+/-1.1 s(-1)) when compared to controls (-10.7+/-2.2 s(-1); P<0.001). Maximal systolic torsion is 8.0+/-2.1 degrees in controls and 14.1+/-6.4 degrees (P<0.01) in patients with aortic valve stenosis. CONCLUSIONS: Left ventricular pressure overload hypertrophy is associated with a reduction in basal and an increase in apical rotation resulting in increased torsion of the ventricle. Diastolic untwisting is delayed and prolonged. This may explain the occurrence of diastolic dysfunction in patients with severe pressure overload hypertrophy.

INTRODUCTION: The pathogenic mechanism of orthostatic proteinuria has not yet been clearly established. OBSERVATION: In a tall, thin, 21 year-old man, isolated proteinuria was discovered during an urological control conducted one year after a bilateral orchidopexy following left testicular torsion. Proteinuria was orthostatic. Doppler examination of the kidney revealed an entrapment of the left renal vein (nutcracker phenomenon-NCP). COMMENTS: An NCP was diagnosed in a young patient presenting with orthostatic proteinuria. By provoking modifications in intraglomerular haemodynamics, the NCP may, in nearly half of the cases, be at the origin of orthostatic proteinuria. Doppler examination is the diagnostic method of choice in the screening for NCP.

The topic of cardiorespiratory interactions is of extreme importance to the practicing intensivist. It also has a reputation for being intellectually challenging, due in part to the enormous volume of relevant, at times contradictory literature. Another source of difficulty is the need to simultaneously consider the interrelated functioning of several organ systems (not necessarily limited to the heart and lung), in other words, to adopt a systemic (as opposed to analytic) point of view. We believe that the proper understanding of a few simple physiological concepts is of great help in organizing knowledge in this field. The first part of this review will be devoted to demonstrating this point. The second part, to be published in a coming issue of Intensive Care Medicine, will apply these concepts to clinical situations. We hope that this text will be of some use, especially to intensivists in training, to demystify a field that many find intimidating.

1. Few examples of habitat-modelling studies of rare and endangered species exist in the literature, although from a conservation perspective predicting their distribution would prove particularly useful. Paucity of data and lack of valid absences are the probable reasons for this shortcoming. Analytic solutions to accommodate the lack of absence include the ecological niche factor analysis (ENFA) and the use of generalized linear models (GLM) with simulated pseudo-absences. 2. In this study we tested a new approach to generating pseudo-absences, based on a preliminary ENFA habitat suitability (HS) map, for the endangered species Eryngium alpinum. This method of generating pseudo-absences was compared with two others: (i) use of a GLM with pseudo-absences generated totally at random, and (ii) use of an ENFA only. 3. The influence of two different spatial resolutions (i.e. grain) was also assessed for tackling the dilemma of quality (grain) vs. quantity (number of occurrences). Each combination of the three above-mentioned methods with the two grains generated a distinct HS map. 4. Four evaluation measures were used for comparing these HS maps: total deviance explained, best kappa, Gini coefficient and minimal predicted area (MPA). The last is a new evaluation criterion proposed in this study. 5. Results showed that (i) GLM models using ENFA-weighted pseudo-absence provide better results, except for the MPA value, and that (ii) quality (spatial resolution and locational accuracy) of the data appears to be more important than quantity (number of occurrences). Furthermore, the proposed MPA value is suggested as a useful measure of model evaluation when used to complement classical statistical measures. 6. Synthesis and applications. We suggest that the use of ENFA-weighted pseudo-absence is a possible way to enhance the quality of GLM-based potential distribution maps and that data quality (i.e. spatial resolution) prevails over quantity (i.e. number of data). Increased accuracy of potential distribution maps could help to define better suitable areas for species protection and reintroduction.

OBJECTIVE: We examined the analytic validity of reported family history of hypertension and diabetes among siblings in the Seychelles. STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING: Four hundred four siblings from 73 families with at least two hypertensive persons were identified through a national hypertension register. Two gold standards were used prospectively. Sensitivity was the proportion of respondents who indicated the presence of disease in a sibling, given that the sibling reported to be affected (personal history gold standard) or was clinically affected (clinical status gold standard). Specificity was the proportion of respondents who reported an unaffected sibling, given that the sibling reported to be unaffected or was clinically unaffected. Respondents gave information on the disease status in their siblings in approximately two-thirds of instances. RESULTS: When sibling history could be obtained (n=348 for hypertension, n=404 for diabetes), the sensitivity and the specificity of the sibling history were, respectively, 90 and 55% for hypertension, and 61 and 98% for diabetes, using clinical status and, respectively, 89 and 78% for hypertension, and 53 and 98% for diabetes, using personal history. CONCLUSION: The sibling history, when available, is a useful screening test to detect hypertension, but it is less useful to detect diabetes.

Differential X-ray phase-contrast tomography (DPCT) refers to a class of promising methods for reconstructing the X-ray refractive index distribution of materials that present weak X-ray absorption contrast. The tomographic projection data in DPCT, from which an estimate of the refractive index distribution is reconstructed, correspond to one-dimensional (1D) derivatives of the two-dimensional (2D) Radon transform of the refractive index distribution. There is an important need for the development of iterative image reconstruction methods for DPCT that can yield useful images from few-view projection data, thereby mitigating the long data-acquisition times and large radiation doses associated with use of analytic reconstruction methods. In this work, we analyze the numerical and statistical properties of two classes of discrete imaging models that form the basis for iterative image reconstruction in DPCT. We also investigate the use of one of the models with a modern image reconstruction algorithm for performing few-view image reconstruction of a tissue specimen.

MI-based interventions are widely used with a number of different clinical populations and their efficacy has been well established. However, the clinicians' training has not traditionally been the focus of empirical investigations. We conducted a meta-analytic review of clinicians' MI-training and MI-skills findings. Fifteen studies were included, involving 715 clinicians. Pre-post training effect sizes were calculated (13 studies) as well as group contrast effect sizes (7 studies). Pre-post training comparisons showed medium to large ES of MI training, which are maintained over a short period of time. When compared to a control group, our results also suggested higher MI proficiency in the professionals trained in MI than in nontrained ones (medium ES). However, this estimate of ES may be affected by a publication bias and therefore, should be considered with caution. Methodological limitations and potential sources of heterogeneity of the studies included in this meta-analysis are discussed.

Dans la th´eorie des repr´esentations modulaires des groupes finis, les modules d?endo-permutation occupent une place importante. En e_et, c?est le r?ole jou´e par ces modules dans l?analyse de la structure de certains modules simples pour des groupes finis p-nilpotents, qui a amen´e E. Dade `a en introduire le concept, en 1978. Quelques ann´ees plus tard, L. Puig a d´emontr´e que la source de n?importe quel module simple pour un groupe fini p-r´esoluble quelconque est un module d?endo-permutation. Plus r´ecemment, on s?est rendu compte que ces modules interviennent aussi dans l?analyse locale des cat´egories d´eriv´ees et dans l?´etude des syst`emes de fusion. La situation que l?on consid`ere est la suivante. On se donne un nombre premier p, un p-groupe fini P, un corps alg´ebriquement clos k de caract´eristique p et on veut d´eterminer tous les kP-modules d?endo-permutation couverts ind´ecomposables de type fini, c?est-`a-dire tous les kP-modules ind´ecomposables de type fini, tels que leur alg`ebre d?endomorphismes est un kP-module de permutation ayant un facteur direct trivial. On d´efinit une relation d?´equivalence sur l?ensemble de ces kP-modules et le produit tensoriel des modules induit une structure de groupe ab´elien sur l?ensemble des classes d?´equivalence. On appelle ce groupe, le groupe de Dade de P. Ainsi, classifier les modules d?endo-permutation couverts revient `a d´eterminer le groupe de Dade de P. Le groupe de Dade d?un p-groupe fini arbitraire est encore inconnu, bien qu?E. Dade, en 1978, ´etait d´ej`a parvenu `a la classification dans le cas o`u P est ab´elien. La premi`ere partie de ce travail de th`ese est consacr´ee au probl`eme de la classification dans le cas g´en´eral et r´esoud la question dans le cas de deux familles de p-groupes finis, `a savoir celle des p-groupes m´etacycliques, pour un nombre premier p impair, et celle des 2-groupes extrasp´eciaux, de la forme D8 _ · · · _ D8. Ces deux choix ont ´et´e motiv´es par le fait que ces groupes sont "presque" ab´eliens. De plus, certains r´esultats sur la structure du groupe de Dade d?un p-groupe fini quelconque rendent le groupe de Dade des groupes de ces deux familles plus simple `a ´etudier. Dans un deuxi`eme temps, nous nous sommes int´eress´es `a deux occurrences de ces modules dans la th´eorie de la repr´esentation des groupes finis, c?est-`a-dire `a deux raisons qui motivent leur ´etude. Ainsi, nous avons r´ealis´e des modules d?endo-permutation comme sources de modules simples. En particulier, il s?av`ere que, dans le cas d?un nombre premier p impair, tout module d?endo-permutation ind´ecomposable dont la classe est un ´el´ement de torsion dans le groupe de Dade est la source d?un module simple. Finalement, nous avons d´etermin´e, parmi tous les modules d?endo-permutation connus actuellement, lesquels poss`edent une r´esolution de permutation endo-scind´ee. Nous sommes arriv´es `a la conclusion que les seuls modules d?endo-permutation qui n?ont pas de r´esolution de permutation endo-scind´ee sont les modules "exceptionnels" apparaissant pour un 2-groupe de quaternions g´en´eralis´es.<br/><br/>In modular representation theory, endo-permutation modules occupy an important position. Indeed, the role that these modules play, in the analysis of the structure of some particular simple modules for finite p-nilpotent groups, induced E. Dade, in 1978, to give them their current name. A few years later, L. Puig proved that the source of any simple module for any finite psolvable group is an endo-permutation module. More recently, the occurrence of endo-permutation modules has also been noticed in the local analysis of splendid equivalences between derived categories and in the study of fusion systems. We consider the following situation. Given a prime number p, a finite pgroup P and an algebraically closed field k of characteristic p, we are looking for all finitely generated indecomposable capped endo-permutation kP-modules. That is, all finitely generated indecomposable kP-modules such that their endomorphism algebra is a permutation kP-module having a trivial direct summand. Then, we define an equivalence relation on the set of all isomorphism classes of such modules, and it turns out that the tensor product (over k) induces a structure of abelian group on this set. We call this group the Dade group of P. Hence, classifying all indecomposable finitely generated capped endo-permutation kPmodules is equivalent to determining the Dade group of P. At present, the Dade group of an arbitrary finite p-group is still unknown. However, E. Dade computed the Dade group of all finite abelian p-groups, in 1978 already. The first part of this doctoral thesis is concerned with the problem of the classification in the general case and solve it in the case of two families of finite p-groups, namely the metacyclic p-groups, for an odd prime number p, and the extraspecial 2-groups of the shape D8 _· · ·_D8. These two choices have been motivated by the fact that these groups are not far from being abelian. Moreover, some general results concerning the Dade group of arbitrary finite p-groups suggest that the Dade group of the groups belonging to these two families is easier to study. In the second part of this thesis, we have been looking at two particular occurrences of these modules in representation theory of finite groups which motivate the interest of their classification. Thus, we realised endo-permutation modules as sources of simple modules. In particular, it turns out that, in case p is an odd prime, any indecomposable module whose class in the Dade group is a torsion element is the source of some simple module. Finally, we considered all the modules we know at present and determined which ones have an endo-split permutation resolution. We could then conclude that all but the "exceptionnal" modules occurring in the generalized quaternion case have an endo-split permutation resolution.<br/><br/>"Module d?endo-permutation" n?est pas le nom d?une maladie exotique contagieuse (du moins pas `a ma connaissance), comme vous pourriez peut-?etre l?imaginer si vous faites partie des personnes qui croient que le titre de docteur n?est destin´e qu?aux m´edecins. Les personnes qui ont d´ej`a entendu parler de Frobenius, Burnside, Schur, ou encore Brauer, pourront vous dire qu?un module est une repr´esentation. "De quoi ?" vous demanderezvous. "Un spectacle de marionnettes, peut-?etre ?" Bien s?ur que non ! Un module d?endo-permutation est une repr´esentation particuli`ere de certains groupes finis, o`u un groupe n?est pas un groupe de rock, comme vous pouvez vous en douter, mais d´esigne un objet math´ematique connu par tous les ´etudiants en sciences au terme de leur premi`ere ann´ee universitaire (en th´eorie, du moins). La "popularit´e" de la notion de groupe, fini ou non, est due au fait que les groupes sont fr´equemment utilis´es, aussi bien dans le domaine abstrait des math´ematiques, que dans le monde r´eel des physiciens, chimistes et autres biologistes (pour ne citer qu?eux). "Mais comment peut-on utiliser concr`etement ces objets invisibles ?" vous demanderez-vous alors. Et bien, justement, en les consid´erant par l?interm´ediaire de leurs repr´esentations, c?est-`a-dire en leur associant des matrices, de fa¸con plus ou moins naturelle. Or, comme il y a "beaucoup trop" de matrices pour un groupe donn´e, elles sont classifi´ees selon certaines de leurs propri´et´es, ce qui permet de les r´epertorier dans diverses familles (celle des modules d?endo-permutation, par exemple). Un groupe est ainsi rendu "concret", car les donn´ees matricielles sont manipulables par tous les scienti- fiques (et leurs ordinateurs), qui peuvent alors les utiliser dans leurs recherches, afin de contribuer au progr`es de la science. En toute franchise, c?est bien loin de ces soucis terre-`a-terre que ce travail de th`ese sur la classification des modules d?endo-permutation a ´et´e accompli. En fait, quitte `a choquer certaines ?ames sensibles, sa r´ealisation est surtout due au caract`ere ´epicure de son auteur, qui, avouons-le, en a ´et´e pleinement satisfait !

Background: Bilateral fourth nerve palsy is characterised by excyclotorsion, which can be corrected by reinforcement of the anterior tendon fibres of the superior oblique muscle. Patients and Methods: A retrospective study of 40 consecutive patients with bilateral acquired fourth nerve palsy operated by a selective tuck of the anterior portion of the superior oblique tendon between 1994 and 2012 was undertaken. Horizontal, vertical and torsional deviations were measured in 9 diagnostic positions of gaze and the field of binocular single vision was evaluated with the Harms tangent screen. Postoperative follow-ups took place at 1 week, 6 months, and ≥ 3 years. Results: Preoperative mean excyclotorsion was 9° in the primary position and 15° in downgaze. These values decreased to 2° and 5° 6 months after surgery, and 2.5° and 6° at ≥ 3 years. Immediate post-operative incyclotorsion in upgaze (28 patients) and Brown syndrome (15 patients) regressed spontaneously. The median score of field of binocular single vision improved from 4 % preoperatively to 76 % postoperatively. Conclusions: The selective tuck of the anterior tendon fibers of the superior oblique tendon enables an efficient and long-lasting correction of the ocular torsion induced by bilateral trochlear palsy.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyze complaints of patients, their relatives, and friends who consulted a complaints center based (Espace Patients & Proches (EPP)) in a hospital so as to better understand the reasons that motivated them and their underlying expectations. METHODS: This study was based on the analysis of written accounts of the 253 situations that occurred during the first year of operation of the EPP. The accounts were analyzed qualitatively using an inductive, thematic analytic approach. RESULTS: We identified 372 different types of complaints and 28 main analytic themes. Five clustered themes emerged from the analysis of the interconnections among the core themes: (1) interpersonal relationship (N=160-the number of accounts including a complaint related to this general theme); (2) technical aspects of care (N=106); (3) health-care institution (N=69); (4) billing and insurance; (5) access to information (N=13). CONCLUSION: The main reason for patients, their relatives, and friends going to EPP was related to the quality of the interpersonal relationship with health-care professionals. Such complaints were markedly more frequent than those concerning technical aspects of care. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: These results raise important questions concerning changing patient expectations as well as how hospitals integrate complaints into the process of quality health care.

Within Data Envelopment Analysis, several alternative models allow for an environmental adjustment. The majority of them deliver divergent results. Decision makers face the difficult task of selecting the most suitable model. This study is performed to overcome this difficulty. By doing so, it fills a research gap. First, a two-step web-based survey is conducted. It aims (1) to identify the selection criteria, (2) to prioritize and weight the selection criteria with respect to the goal of selecting the most suitable model and (3) to collect the preferences about which model is preferable to fulfil each selection criterion. Second, Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to quantify the preferences expressed in the survey. Results show that the understandability, the applicability and the acceptability of the alternative models are valid selection criteria. The selection of the most suitable model depends on the preferences of the decision makers with regards to these criteria.
