Entrepreneurship, organization and economic performance among Spanish firms, 1930-1975. The case of the motor industry

Before the Civil War (1936-1939), Spain had seen the emergence offirms of complex organizational forms. However, the conflict andthe postwar years changed this pattern. The argument put forwardin this paper is based on historical experience, the efforts willbe addressed to explain the development of Spanish entrepreneurshipduring the second half of the twentieth century. To illustrate thechange in entrepreneurship and organizational patterns among theSpanish firms during the Francoist regime we will turn to the caseof the motor vehicle industry.

In thissense we may consider the problem situations as a good example for methodological proposals. So as to determine its useand adequateness for Physical Education it is conveniente to analyse the characteristics of the motor tasks that areproposed as well as the features of the teaching intervention in such a way as to ease the adquisition and development ofthe motor competence of the students

La Variació de les etapes evolutives i l'adquisició dels aprenentatges aquàtics en una experiència motriu en la primera infància

My work seeks, to observe if there is some variation at some evolutionary stage starting from the knowledge obtained starting from the study of learning and development motor, with reference to a controlled group. My research details the types of aquatic abilities that take place as a consequence of a specific program. My investigation uses a quantitative methodology that compares the moments of appearance of different evolutionary stages in a first phase and a qualitative methodology for the second phase that makes those learnings thake place as a consequence of my intervention. To elaborate this process I have used an inductive and deductive method, I have based my reserach on fifteen years, of experience of these practices and used the data that has been provided to me from other's author's investigations.

Market effects of foreign exchange coordinated intervention

In this article we develop a theoretical microstructure model of coordinated central bank intervention based on asymmetric information. We study the economic implications of coordination on some measures of market quality and show that the model predicts higher volatility and more significant exchange rate changes when central banks coordinate compared to when they intervene unilaterally. Both these predictions are in line with empirical evidence. Keywords: coordinated foreign exchange intervention, market microstructure. JEL Classification: D82, E58, F31, G14

S’ha optimitzat un motor de veu natural per a dispositius mòbils com una PDA o un telèfon mòbil basat en un sistema operatiu Windows. La finalitat d’aquest treball és la d’ajudar a fer més fàcil la utilització d’aquests aparells a gent invident i que pugui acabar sent una donació a la ONCE.

Aplicació informàtica per al registre del comportament motor en les situacions pràxiques

Durante los dos años que van desde noviembre de 2005 a noviembre de 2007, en los que se ha llevado a cabo la Beca de colaborador en el ámbito del deporte, tanto en el CAR de Sant Cugat como en el Consell Catala de l’Esport, se han investigado y estudiado las acciones práxicas de un deporte tan popular, pero al mismo tiempo tan desconocido, como es el futbol. El primer año se investigaron las acciones práxicas que finalizaron en gol en la Liga de Fútbol Profesional, Liga Española, temporada 2005-2006. Dichas investigaciones sirvieron como una primera toma de contacto en relación a este tipo de estudios y sirvieron también para elaborar unas primeras aplicaciones informáticas que nos permitieran el registro de dichas acciones para su posterior análisis. Durante el segundo año, se trabajó en la confección de una aplicación informática que reflejara y permitiera el registro de las acciones práxicas del portero de futbol durante un partido de competición. Así mismo, durante este segundo año también se elaboraron y publicaron dos artículos científicos relacionados con las investigaciones llevadas a cabo en el primer año de Beca. La finalidad y propósito de toda esta serie de investigaciones y trabajos ha sido conocer en profundidad el deporte en cuestión para poder plantear nuevas metodologías y planteamientos de entrenamiento basadas en la competición, que nos permitan mejorar el rendimiento en el deporte investigado. 

Health intervention and decline in infant mortality rates. Milk depots in Spain (1900-1936)

The role of public health has been a central topic on the classical debate about the historical mortality decline in Europe. One of these health initiatives were the Milk Depots. Spain set up those centres from the late 19th century until the beginning of the Civil War. The goal of this paper is to evaluate the effect of this health intervention on the infant mortality decline during this period. This study works out three kinds of sources: Statistical Yearbooks, Official documents and local records produced by the same Milk Depot. It analyses data available for all the country and one local case such as the Barcelona’s Milk Depot (1904-1935). The main methodological issue deals with the measurement of the effect of the Milk Depot activities on the pattern of changes of infant mortality. Results suggest that Milk Depots have a positive but quite moderate effect on the improving of overall levels of child survival.

El turismo, motor fundamental de la economía de Cataluña (1951-2010)

Este trabajo presenta las dimensiones básicas de las actividades productivas asociadas al turismo receptor en Cataluña desde 1951 hasta 2010. Analiza sus características desde una perspectiva macroeconómica y con un enfoque comparativo. Demuestra que se ha ido transformando desde el modelo de sol y playa, que definió la fase de instalación del turismo de masas, hasta convertirse en un destino turístico muy diversificado, con un protagonismo creciente de la conurbación de Barcelona. Esta transformación ha facilitado una positiva adaptación a la segmentación de la demanda turística internacional. El turismo extranjero ha proporcionado a Cataluña el liderazgo español y europeo y se ha convertido en motor fundamental del crecimiento económico.

Implication of Nerve Growth Factor in intestinal mucosal mast cell activity and colonic motor alterations in a model of ovalbumin-induced gut dysfunction in rats

We determined NGF involvement in MMCs and colonic motor alterations in an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced gut dysfunction model in rats. Animals received OVA (6 weeks), with/without simultaneous K252a (TrkA antagonist) treatment. MMCs, rat mast cell protease II (RMCPII) levels and colonic contractility in vitro were assessed. OVA increased MMC density and RMCPII concentration. Spontaneous contractility was similar in both groups and inhibited by K252a. Carbachol responses were increased by OVA in a K252a-independent manner. NO-synthase inhibition increased spontaneous activity in OVA-treated animals in a K252a-dependent manner. These observations support an involvement of NGF in the functional changes observed in this model.

En la empresa Unit4 se dispone de un Web Server codificado en Visual Basic que ha quedado desfasado y obsoleto de forma que lo que se desea es migrarlo a un lenguaje de programación actual y potente y eliminar restricciones de software que tiene ahora, además de mejorar el rendimiento. Este proyecto se refiere al desarrollo de este nuevo servidor.

Acute Damage to the Posterior Limb of the Internal Capsule on Diffusion Tensor Tractography as an Early Imaging Predictor of Motor Outcome after Stroke

Background and Purpose Early prediction of motor outcome is of interest in stroke management. We aimed to determine whether lesion location at DTT is predictive of motor outcome after acute stroke and whether this information improves the predictive accuracy of the clinical scores. Methods We evaluated 60 consecutive patients within 12 hours of MCA stroke onset. We used DTT to evaluate CST involvement in the MC and PMC, CS, CR, and PLIC and in combinations of these regions at admission, at day 3, and at day 30. Severity of limb weakness was assessed using the m-NIHSS (5a, 5b, 6a, 6b). We calculated volumes of infarct and FA values in the CST of the pons. Results Acute damage to the PLIC was the best predictor associated with poor motor outcome, axonal damage, and clinical severity at admission (P&.001). There was no significant correlation between acute infarct volume and motor outcome at day 90 (P=.176, r=0.485). The sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values of acute CST involvement at the level of the PLIC for 4 motor outcome at day 90 were 73.7%, 100%, 100%, and 89.1%, respectively. In the acute stage, DTT predicted motor outcome at day 90 better than the clinical scores (R2=75.50, F=80.09, P&.001). Conclusions In the acute setting, DTT is promising for stroke mapping to predict motor outcome. Acute CST damage at the level of the PLIC is a significant predictor of unfavorable motor outcome.

Reduction in catheter-related bloodstream infections in critically ill patients through a multiple system intervention.

Els catéters venosos centrals són necessaris per al maneig del pacient crític però poden ser l´origen d´una bacteriemia. Aquest estudi prospectiu de cohort té com a objectiu determinar la utilitat de l´aplicació d´unes mesures bàsiques de prevenció per disminuir la incidència de bacteriemia associada a catéter. Els resultats de l´estudi confirmen que l´aplicació d´aquest sistema d´intervenció múltiple basat en l´evidencia redueix de forma significativa les bacteriemies associades a catéter a la nostra UCI.

Análisis y diseño de un motor de reglas IF - THEN para dispositivos móviles

El TFC consisteix en l'anàlisi i disseny d'un sistema que permeti administrar les regles d'una organització. Les regles de negoci són importants per a les empreses, ja que descriuen com aquestes realitzen les seves activitats. En aquest TFC es proposa un sistema que permetrà gestionar les esmentades regles.

L' univers femení del Jaufré : les dames, motor de l'acció cavalleresca

Els models literaris analitzats se centren quasi exclusivament en les obres de Chrétien de Troyes i en els lais de Maria de França. S'ha pretés en tot moment fer una lectura de la novel·la en clau femenina per tal de demostrar que la figura central de l'heroi actua i evoluciona generalment gràcies a o a causa de la voluntat, les decisions o les accions de les dones que troba en la seua aventura. No hi pot haver cavalleria sense amor; tot cavaller ha de lluitar per la seua dama tant al camp de batalla com a la cort.

Selecció i implementació d'un motor de cerca a la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC

A partir de diferents enquestes de satisfacció institucional i de l'anàlisi de l'arxiu 'log' del servidor de la biblioteca respecte a l'ús i al comportament dels usuaris, es va detectar que cada cop era més complex accedir als continguts i serveis de manera proporcional al creixement d'aquests darrers i de l'augment del nombre d'usuaris. El creixement dels recursos i de les diferents aplicacions desenvolupats a la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC (BUOC) va fer necessari la selecció i la implementació d'un motor de cerca que facilités de manera global l'accés als recursos d'informació i als serveis oferts a la comunitat virtual de la UOC d'acord amb la tipologia d'usuari, l'idioma i el seu entorn d'aprenentatge. En aquest article s'exposa el procés d'anàlisi de diferents productes i la implementació de Verity a la BUOC amb els desenvolupaments realitzats en les diferents aplicacions perquè el motor de cerca pugui fer la seva funció.
